This song def hits home on both levels. I cry every time I hear it. My father served in the USMC for 12 yrs. and he eventually succumbed to ALS. The doctor said he only had a month to live but he fought it for 2 yrs. I know I'll see him again in heaven.

Lost my kids father to aml leukemia he put up a good fight for 3 year said im not afraid to die. Was once 230 muscula went down to 130 lbs died at home with dignity and with my boys around him. He cried out and smiled "God!" I sleep with it every night (if I sleep at all) sometimes it's just easier to stay awake, but I Wouldnt change any of it and I would do it all over again in a minute to protect the people and the country I love so much and I'm thankful for the Honor and the privilege to have been allowed to serve.

Yes I know even those who fight will disagree with that statement, but I don’t apologize for what I believe, nor would anyone have to apologize for a son, daughter, wife, husband, dad, mom, brother or sister for why their loved ones won’t be coming home alive!!! One of my very best friends passed suddenly due to complications with type 1 diabetes at only 29 years old, I've also had both of my grandfathers pass, and they were vets, all 3 were recent, and this song sure shoots me right in the heart. The second verse is like my grandpa. He got throat cancer in Oct 2015, had to get a tracheostomy. He beat the cancer in Feb 2016, but due to complications in and out of the hospital, he passed away in June of 2016. He trained in the USMC. Tough as nails kinda man

Respect to everyone fighting for America and against cancer! People need to appreciate military for our freedom, and people need to respect people fighting horrible diseases ! Be nice and open a door instead of being shut off and disconnected! Especially the younger generations.
