Okay, I have stopped at the 9:23 mark because I am shocked that these owners were not prepared to have these pups. No berthing area for the mom, the dad was holding his dog when in labour, kids mauling the dog. GRRR!! Let the dog do it's own thing, yes watch but give it space in a nice comfy quiet corner. You can use RU-vid for help in what to do if your a new breeder or ask for help. Now to finish the video.

Yeah, it bothered me, too, especially seeing a mother of 3 kids have no clue. I understand confusion over it being a dog, but it's not much different from a human. You don't need the whole family in the birthing room.

i dont know why they waited until she was overdue to find out how many puppies she was going to have and not even knowing for sure. its easily visible far earlier and if she had delivered naturally, on time and at home how the hell would she (a first time dog grandma) would know that bonnie got all of them out or if she was simply too exhausted to push anymore. I know that people think that a dog will enjoy being a parent and all that but its really selfish to breed a dog like this (not a breeder, breed that is a purebred or breeding out bad genes like in pugs, and not even knowing or particularly caring where the puppies will go, i know dr. scott would be a wonderful choice but the way she offered just seemed like she would be offering them to everyone.)

@Francine MirandaHaving 3 or 6 puppies does make a difference, the more puppies the less oxygen and space for each puppy. Generally when a medical professional reccomends a service or theraphy they weigh the risks & benefits, so while radiation does carry risks the benefits out weigh the risks in this case. Also how could you possibly be so certain C-Section was nessacry? We saw the out come of a video so if you didn't see this video you would of known? If an X-Ray had been done Dr Scott might of given the Oxytocin earlier if he had actually known there were more than 3 - 4 puppies.

Our Granddaughter’s boyfriend needed someone to rescue his nine month old miniature Doxie. The young man’s mother had a recurrence of breast cancer and wasn’t expecting to live long. He was only 18y and knew it would be very hard to find somewhere to live after his mom died. So my husband and I took the nine month old puppy and thought she was a Black and Tan. Actually she had double dapple in her and both eyes were constructed with problems. One has no optic nerve and the other has sight issues including little irises floating in the eyeball. It’s been expensive. The young man would have no way to care for the medical problems created by breeders that irresponsibly put her mother and father together. Lesson learned if I were to buy for a particular breed I’d find an AKC breeder. My granddaughter is on her way to becoming a Vet Tech or nurse and her ethics about animals is awesome. I notice it is very common in her friends and others in her generation. I’m so glad that such incredible young people will soon be in charge.

Sadly, this is why we have so many issues with genetics/health. Because some people just get this idea "oh my dog is the best thing ever! Lets breed it!" This is right there with back yard breeders because precautions ethical breeders take are ignored and unknown of to these people. It's either a price tag or emotional breeding that ends with dogs who are genetically prone to diseases are bred and then people who don't research the breeder purchase their dog and continue this disastrous cycle. I see it mostly with small dogs or doodles/poodles. I see in some breed groups on facebook at least once a day someone wanting to breed a dog that is not breed standard and looks to have eye issues (like toy poodles having bulgy eyes which is not healthy or breed standard) or shih tzu with horrible under/over bites and while they should have a slite under bite, the poorly bred ones have some so bad their teeth are always showing which cause dental problems.

Average size for a miniature poodle is 5, and I think Bonnie is a miniature mix, not a toy poodle mix (average litter size 3). My Sheltie of years ago came from a litter of 8, a lot for that breed. But my 45-pound retriever mix came from an (unintended, and first) litter of 11. Larger breeds have larger litters. Never heard first litters are smaller. The attitude in the UK is very different about neutering/spaying pets vs in the U.S. The mortality/complication rates under anesthesia for small animals there are much higher than in the U.S.-- you really are deciding if you are willing to risk losing your pet completely just to sterilize it. I still would but it makes me more sympathetic to them not doing so as just a standard thing the way it is here.

Indeed: why breed dogs when so many dogs are killed in the UK for lack of families? Adopting a dog on death row would have cheered the family up just as much. Backyard breeders should not be given as models: they don't have a clue about what they're doing and each puppy born takes the place of a dog that got killed in a shelter. They are probably also after the money they'll get from selling the puppies: they could not even spend some to make sure their poor pregnant dog was cared for properly. X rays at the end of pregnancy are not dangerous, on the contrary they save lives. Ultrasounds can be done earlier in the pregnancy without any risk.

The way she was so cavalier to the neighbour lady about "Oh can your dog come over?" Like it's some cute little game. No! There is no need to contribute to pet overpopulation just because you had a "crazy idea." I'd expect that logic from a six-year-old. C-sections on animals are much more risky than on humans, because the animal has to be put under and the anaesthesia affects the babies as well. That's why it took so long to get all the puppies breathing. I was certain at least one wasn't going to make it - they were very lucky. And that lady, after casually breeding her dog, didn't even bother to do an internet search for what to do with a dog in labor? "I don't know if I'm supposed to be there with scissors" and the poor dog's already overdue. The radiation from one x-ray is completely negligible, and the vet probably would have started the C-section earlier if he knew how many puppies were in there. Would have saved the poor mama dog suffering and prevented so much potentially deadly stress on the puppies. I hope these people learned their lesson! Spay and neuter your pets!

The more I watch the BondiVet series, the more I am stunned about all of the dogs and cats giving birth both in the UK and Australia. Here in Canada It's practically law everywhere to have your pets spayed or neutered. Of course that is not true in all cases, but you cannot go to any shelter and adopt a pet without it having been de-sexed. Usually they have been micro-chipped as well. Buying from "breeders" is highly discouraged. The other thing we do here is catch and release feral cats. The cats are trapped, spayed or neutered, the ear tip is clipped and they are released back to their colonies. The cats live their lives outdoors but cannot ever breed again thus keeping the feral populations down.

Don't assume that if people stopped having these type of puppies (small, sweet, family-friendly) that the issue of too many unadopted dogs in shelters will be solved. Problem is not all dogs in shelters are suitable for many homes. Many are there because they are "too much dog" for the previous owners. I know that I can't adopt many of the dogs that I see. Had a family members try, and they had to return a dog who was not getting along with the resident cats. :(

@@barbararoberts571 of course not but it would open up many homes that potentially would be a good fit. “Forced it pregnant” is unfair to say. I don’t like when people don’t spay/neuter their dogs, but she didn’t *force* the dogs to mate, she just brought them together and they worked it out themselves. You make it sound like she r*ped the dog or something

@@mar-k7104who said anything about r*pe though? The first comment is right, she forced Bonnie to be pregnant by wilfully and knowingly putting her into that situation and wanting that outcome. Gee, that poor lady though, she was SOOO WORRIED.

@@emluvslou “force” is still not the right word. You know that old saying “you can take a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink?” You can bring two intact dogs together, but you can’t make them mate. Unless she literally forced the two dogs on top of one another manually, the situation wasn’t forced, she just made it so it was possible and hoped it would happen *naturally* Again, I disagree with her allowing it to happen, I think people should get their dogs spayed/neutered, but framing it as anything but natural is ingenue. And yes, “forced to get pregnant” implies “forcibly mated” and forced s*x is r*pe

Designer mutts are just that, all looks but a shot in the dark with anything else and have created some iconic ones like the Goldendoodle, Puggle, aussiedoodle, pomsky, all for looks but in reality are not healthy for majority are not looking at genetics or health screening.
