I went to STLV convention this year. My dad and i got to take a picture with him. I actually called him by Mr. Stromboli as reference to his character and he really enjoyed hearing that :)
Brent was hilarious in "Out to Sea" as well. His character was so outrageous that he totally stole the show from Walter Matthau and Jack Lemon even though he was supposed to be the villain, lol.
I'd love to have met him at a time when he was younger :-/ Time is weird to me, and I can't make the way he looked then, & on TNG stop being my default expectation of what he looks like 20-30+ years later. I see more recent pictures (from "Picard") and even though I know that's also Brent Spiner, I can't seem to make that connection permanent to me.
@@Elly3981 born in 1990. I don't remember watching TNG as it aired, but I remember watching this tape over and over when I was about 10 years old. Absolutely loved it ❤
Brent Spiner's talent is sorely underused. Such an enormous range of gifts...such little time. Wish he'd record more. He should be more musicals like Chicago, Dreamgirls, etc. Two thumbs up on the 'sex appeal' comment below. Woo Brent you're still hot!
I asked him about this went I met him today at London Film and Comic Con. He is lovely, and he said he found it hard to talk and sing to a room of marionettes XD I love Brent! :D
I don't see why people are saying this movie was garbage. I didn't and still don't think so. It is old, and obviously was on a fairly tight budget. But it wasn't bad. I liked it and still do.
The fact that you think this is "old" says a lot about your perspective. Meaning, you were likely a child when you saw it first and that's why you like it.
Perhaps because it has absolutely nothing to do with the story of Pinocchio, most of the actors do not stand out at all, some songs if you avoid them and the whole is assembled in a rather patchy way in short, it is absolutely a disaster, even if I have seen worse, I do not consider it one of the best versions of Pinocchio ever made
Love it how the composer bases the chorus on Largo al Factotum! I thought of including this in my degree recital, but I'm thinking of actually doing a completely separate performance for funny works.
Brent Spiner was the original Franz in Sondheim's "Sunday in the Park with George" on Broadway in the 1980s. I saw that production. I was delighted when he was cast as Data in SNG, along with my all-time favorite, Patrick Stewart. Everyone on SNG had an impressive resume in the theater before that show.
Zedwoman Yeah, I was first introduced to Brent Spiner through Star Trek, and then grew to love him in other things, this was one of them. :D Now all he needs to do is impersonate Data trying to recite a line of Stromboli from Disney's Pinocchio to Picard saying, "We will tour the world, sir, Paris, London, Monte Carlo, Constantinopaleee," complete with trying to belly dance when saying the last word. LOL
@@AishaVonFossen I adore Brent in his other roles outside of Star Trek as well! He's so handsome yet such a funny guy and can take on even the nuttiest of roles.
Well, Brent can look quite different in his various film roles when not playing the smooth and polished android, Data. I learned to recognize him by the shape of his nose and lips.
@@robertrowley4929 Brent owns every role he's in! I'm not a Drew Carey fan but I loved this move because of Brent. I also don't like Halle Berry but I watched Introducing Dorathy Dandridge because Brent was in it as well.

I haven't seen the 2022 version but I actually liked this version a lot. I must see it again since its been such a long time. Brent is wonderful in all of his roles!
The one and only enjoyable moment in this TV-Movie. Was amazed that the same people who wrote this lousy thing also managed to write such a great song.
In this film, Brent Spiner is the opposite of Dana Carvey. While Carvey's acting is dull and his singing tone deaf, Spiner gives a performance, both acting and singing, that's over the top and goofy in the best way, kind of an American Tim Curry.
Sono attore come brent spiner attore bravo stromboli più presto sarò felice mio preferito di serie TV film bravo stromboli come anni ho compiuto 30 serie TV film molto interessante
it is easy to say Brent was the only thing worth watching in that rubbish movie, that was incredible, I'm sure when they offered him the part they thought it would be just an entertaining thought a guy who played a android for all those years chasing a puppet, yet he stole the whole movie all his scenes were great especially this one
I actually liked this movie. Maybe not the best version of the Pinocchio story but still worth watching. And Brent Spiner stands out so much as an actor that he totally stole the show even in movies where he's the main antagonist like in Gepetto and Out to Sea.
This particular video is somewhat sped up. This isn't the original 'tone' of the song; it's in a lower register. Still - holy F! This is awesome! I watched this movie solely because of him when it originally aired on TV. Don't know what made me revisit it within the past year, but I'm glad I did. Solved a problem within my story, big time!
I don't really like Walter Matthau, Jack Lemon, or Halle Berry but I watched "Out to Sea' and "Introducing Dorothy Dandrage" just because Brent was in them and I adore him.
I agree. There is a lot of fun, but Stromboli is a real fiend, indeed a monster, fool with jealousy and money! You see he wants to wrest Pinocchio from Geppetto's arms, tell me how can he try to tear away a father's love for his son and ruin a dream? This is a very madness!
After years of a second-rate act on a second-class circuit, After years of obscurity, toiling in doubt and in debt, Comes a chance I could perk up my luck, and I'm going to perk it. Think of the rapture Once we recapture That marvelous marionette. Remember the audience cheering the puppet who's stringless? Remember them throwing those purses of gold our way? It's clear a performance without him is going to bring less. We've got to find him, Capture and bind him, And cage him again Till we stage him again And they say, "Hooray!" "Bravo, Stromboli!" (Bravo!) "Bravo, Stromboli!" (Maestro) "Bravo, Stromboli! Practically holy, You are a showman Second to no man." And with the tickets Selling so quick, it's Making us ancy For if we can't see Signor Stromboli an imbrolio. There's going to be Stromboli, bravi- ssimo! But what if we never can find our dear little dummy? (Oh.) Farewell to my riches, addio, admiring throngs. No! I will not allow my good fortune to be taken from me. We'll search for Pinocchio From here to Tokyo And bring him back where he belongs. Perhaps little Woody's forgotten that he signed a contract That binds him to me in each codicil, rider, and clause. Ensuring whenever my orchestra strikes up their entract He'll be appearing, And I'll be hearing The jingle of coins and the tingling sound of applause. "Bravo, Stromboli!" (Bravo!) "Bravo, Stromboli!" (Magnifico.) We'll name a cannoli After Stromboli We who you lowly Think of you solely As the Napoleon of puppeteers. After all of the years, All of the tears, Hearing the cheers Ring in my ears. Silence the scoffers, Fill up the coffers, Wearing me offers Everyone proffers. They're dying to back you with such a spectacular show. They "ooh" and they "ahh." Acclaim and eclat. Stromboli, hurrah! Bravo! We go!

Sometimes this character makes your skin crawl!!! If you see when Stromboli is in Pleasure Island to kidnapp Pinocchio again and to interfere with Geppetto's noble intentions, here he is seen in all his total insanity!

Brent Spiner played a Pinocchio-like character as the android Data in "Star Trek: TNG" who spends his life wanting to become human. That's how casting directors are, like how Mia Farrow from "Rosemary's Baby" was cast as Damien's new nanny in "The Omen" remake, for example.
