#randomdalek presents the theme tune to Carla Lane’s classic BBC sitcom Bread.
This popular 80s/90s comedy focused on a large Liverpool family - the Boswells - who were trying to make their way through life in Margaret Thatcher’s Britain, with no visible means of support.
The show’s theme tune, Home, was sung by members of the cast. It was released on BBC Records but failed to make the UK Singles Chart.
All 7 series of Bread - 74 episodes, including 3 Christmas specials - aired on BBC One between 1 May 1986 to 3 November 1991.

A good comedy series with that certain appealing cosy atmosphere I remember watching it whilst growing up , they have started showing re-runs on uk Drama on freeview. Oh to bring back those 1980s enjoyable days of TV.

There's actually people like her at most Job Centres, trust me, I was on the JSA for a year from 1998 to 1999, till I eventually got fed up of being chuffed about and told them to kiss my arse. Seriously they do get fed up of the job and serving people who clearly have no intention of ever working, they're just going through the motions to keep getting their money.

Theme tune written by David Mackay. He also wrote the music for Auf Wiedersehen Pet series 1 and 2. I own a Yamaha DX7 synth which belonged to him (might even be the one I can hear in this song).

Mostly. It reinforced every stereotype under the sun when the city needed help the most. It didn't help that Carla Lane who wrote it had upped sticks many years before and lived in a mansion in Sussex.

My Mum recommended this show to me, but I didn't find it particularly funny. Maybe there was something about this shows brand of humour I didn't get, but I often wonder if my Mum and me were watching the same show.
