Death and heartless/nobodies creation are a different things, right? I have the theory that Strelitzia's heart went into Lauriam/Marluxia at some point, and when Lauriam became a nobody he carried an special Strelitzia nobody with him (the spectre). Kinda like when Terranort became Ansem SoD, Terra's heart was part of the guardian.
That's a tad close to my own theory. I don't know about a physical body but I believe that while not the Heart we actually talked to, Strelitzea's Heart my have been in the Final World. Chirithy (Ventus' so perhaps its vacant) was also a world where "Sleep and Death touch" & "One can't help the occasional cross over. If her will persists I wonder if she was able to establish contact with her, if only briefly.
I don't think that giant Nobody is Strelitzia's, but an image of her created by Marluxia's subconscious. He seems to have lost his memory at some point when he became a Nobody, but since the bond between brother and sister was so strong, he never truly forgot about her, and his powers manifested like that.
@@alexanderuser1282 naw man, I disagree. While the first game has it's simple and clean charm, I stay with the series for Nomuras crack head narrative that takes decades to decode
@@alexanderuser1282 You have it right. Complicated writing isn’t good. In fact, it’s usually bad. Establish good characters and settings and then play simple stories with them. You can raise stakes and create drama without making things confusing.
Man, the spectre in the final two Marluxia fights has such an awesome design to it. Till this day, it might be my favourite final bosses in terms of music and monster designs. I really hope that this 'Guardian Angel' is Strelitzia's Nobody as, much like the Guardian, it would make these fights even cooler looking back at them. I don't want to get too attached to the theory, but these hints given in the last UX update are really leaning towards this revelation. It's a bit in the air on Strelitizia's 'death' as it does leave some things open. If the spectre is her Nobody, then that would mean she would have to produce a Heartless first, which is possible. This whole thing really depends on two things; 1. How was Strelitzia exactly struck down? 2. Where did her heart go afterwards? Because she doesn't exactly just fall over and simply die, like say Barbossa in KH2. Her heart flies away and her body disappears, which isn't necessarily death as we've seen multiple characters go through similar circumstances, such as Sora, Eraqus, Xehanort and that one NPC from Traverse Town. Theory-discussion aside, I enjoyed this breakdown. It was nice to see the little details during these battles.
It never occurred to me that the spectre you're flying on and the spectre behind Marluxia could possibly be different! It's possible that the smaller spectre is another manifestation of the large one, or that this spectre was formed from the bond between Lauriam and Strelitzia, similarly to how the Armored Xehanorts were created, while the actual Strelitzia is the larger one holding them up.
This would also compliment the motif that Strelitzia is finally strong enough to carry her brother on her back. Similar to the first phase but further emphasized.
Darkness did tell Maleficent that she would lose her body if she time traveled! Nobodies are only a body though without a heart at first though so I would assume they would cease to exist if they tried to time travel.
I don't think it's *quite* as simple as it being her Nobody purely, but it certainly is themed due to Marluxia using it. Shame we don't see it again in KH3. Though I wonder, perhaps this ability may have been Strelitzea's memory etched into his heart.
@@BioRoxas Hmm... Vexen WAS working on replicas in Castle Oblivion... this probably is just supposed to be Strilitzia's Nobody, but it makes you wonder, eh?
She didn't become a heartless though, she died. So she can't have a nobody. I think the ideas that either her heart moved into Lauriam when she died, or that the Spectre was made from marluxia's memories of Streletzia are more likely.
I mean if you think about it axel doesn't have a heartless neither does the other organizations except xeahnort and i think marluxia sister went into his heart i mean its possible
@@jordancrooks6752 Axel had a heartless because he's a nobody. His heartless was created when he became a nobody due to Xehanort's experiments on ansems apprentices. He wasn't just killed the normal way. His heartless was probably not very strong or unique powerful since he didn't have a lot of darkness at the time. It was probably defeated a while back.
Thank you so so SO much for this breakdown! I love Spectre and wanted to give some additional thoughts. Observations: - Final Spectre has four wings, the number of wings a cherub has. She also has rotating rings around the arena, reminiscent of throne angels which are associated with cherubs - Final Spectre's regular scythe attack resembles CoM Marluxia's Deathscythe sleight - Final Spectre's Circle Reject animation is the same as one of CoM Marluxia's single card attacks (I think blue but not 100% sure) - The bottom of her dress has the same shape as the bottom of Reaper Nobodies, and the appendages coming out look like roots - The torn black cape on her armor resembles Lauriam's torn vest Theory: I think it's possible that Spectre isn't *exactly* Strelitzia's Nobody (since we never saw Strel become a Heartless), she actually has a few similarities with Terra imo. I think could be a Lingering Will-type of sentient wish that bound to Lauriam/Marluxia's body. Her mimicking Lauriam's vest and Marluxia's weapon/sleights, her pink "hair," and her physical attachment to Marluxia in both phases hint to me that her body was either donated to her or shared with Marluxia when he needed her help (his desperation to defeat Sora triggered her to awaken, like how the presence of Riku's keyblade triggered LW to awaken in KH2). The fact that we never see her body other than her face in the armored phase also makes me think it was in the process of being formed during the fight but that's more a guess on my part. Thank you again for posting this! I've been hoping to find some camera angles on this boss's attacks but sadly no longer own Re:CoM.
I really love your breakdowns so. When you're playing the game you don't really have time to appreciate everything that's going on. It's just insane how much thought and work went into these bosses and how many symbols and nuances you can find in them
I love this boss fight and the music in it I know I'd never happen but I'd love to see this fight with regular KH combat instead of the card based one oh well great video!
I think the spectre is not actually Strelitzia. Just a figment of Marluxia's memory of her, which is of course buried deep inside of him because he doesnt remember who or where he's from at the time.
Nice breakdown Bio. There's something about this boss that makes it stick out from previous ones in the series. As much as I love Xemnas, Ansem and Xehanort Re:Coms final boss is so unique in both music and design. Keep up the good content 😁 P.S Lord of the Castle might be my favorite Final Boss track in the series but I'm still debating on that.
I felt that the giant white guardian is NOT Strelitzia. I’m guessing Laurium’s heart must’ve been THAT strong for he remained pretty powerful when turned into a Nobody. In Castle Oblivion, he must’ve unlocked his old potential and created this Nobody. Marluxia might’ve subconsciously based his guardian in the memory of his late sister.
Been waiting on you to do a vidoe about this, plus i dont think I ever told you but a lomg time ago I made this theory that the hooded figured on the official artwork of Union Cross was Strelitzia's nobody or something like that, so in a way my theory came true. Keep up the amazing work Bio
It's so wild that this showed up in my feed cuz I only just found out like two hours ago that Marluxia played a super important role in the story somehow. Thanks for the impeccable timing
I'm curious how a keyblade wielder turned into a lesser nobody. An incredibly powerful lesser nobody, but a lesser nobody nonetheless. Shouldn't keyblade wielders have strong enough hearts to make humanoid nobodies? Then again, Starlight does appear to be a mass produced keyblade, so Strelitzia's heart might not be powerful enough for a personal keyblade Also, why do so many characters have Orbitar weapons? Xemnas, Ansem(KH3 Ansem), Marluxia, and Strelitzia have these.
Mass produced keybalde or not, all keyblade weilders seem to have strong hearts and a lot of determination, They at least make more sence to become nobodies in my head than the radiant garden's castle gaurds or some radiant gaurdian scientists, but what do I know?
I'm genuinely shocked I haven't made this connection yet. Given how much Lauriam flips the fuck out over Strelitzia's disappearance, it makes me wonder if he became a nobody specifically to be reuinited with his sister. It'd also explain his desire to overthrow and control the Organization as well, as he probably saw them as a threat to the remains of the poor girl. And if she really is the nameless star Sora encountered, then that makes it all the more tragic because she moved on before he did. Even worse yet, perhaps her tears in the first phase were a reaction to seeing her brother get hurt, even if it was a copy, and she does desperately try to keep Sora as far away from him as possible (especially in the GBA version). The more serious face in the second phase might be this desperate rage as well, if they are the same being. But her angel motif makes it even more fascinating too. The flowers appearing on the wheels right before Omnilaser makes me think that this might be a reference to the wheels within wheels from Ezekiel, and if Stelitzia's consciousness was already in the Final World by this point than it makes me wonder if beings are able to influence the worlds from the beyond. Cause that is some biblical "Wrath of Heaven" shit. Nevermind how much it shows the girl's sheer willpower to be able to defend her brother from outside forces no matter the distance between them. Reminds me a lot of Terra's lingering will with that combination of devoution, sorrow, rage, and force of will. If I'm even half way right and not just spiraling into a Nomura induced madness, then Strelitzia earned that angel motif she has going on.
Good eye on the rotating wings; throne angels/wheels also appear alongside cherubs, which have four wings as Spectre does. The similarity with Lingering Will is hard to ignore, too, I think she's probably more akin to that than a normal Nobody - a sentient wish that managed to bind itself to Lauram/Marluxia's body the same way Terra's wish bound itself to his armor.
@@bouclechocolat I totally forgot about that bit with the cherubs. Certainly helps lead credence to the whole thing. Makes me wonder how much of that battle is Castle Oblivion weirdness and how much is Strelitzia and Lauriam's bond.
@@DyxoXinoro Definitely think their bond had a lot to do with it. I'm not 100% convinced yet that Strelitzia's body would have survived from the age of fairytales to present day (AND made it to land of departure/castle oblivion) without anyone stumbling upon her, so her will following Lauriam's body around has a stronger case imo. (My personal preferred take is that Spectre is a kind of chimera formed from Strelitzia's will and part of Marluxia's body but I feel like KH can go either way on whether they'd make it that complicated lol)
I wonder if it really is her nobody, or if Marluxia made a nobody to resemble her, kind of like paying homage to her or something. I mean it could be her, anything is possible, I just feel it is weird that she would still be alive after all this time as a nobody. Also I've always thought that each numbered member of the organization might have a special nobody attached to them, like the Twilight Thorn that attacks Roxas in KH2. The Dusks even call Roxas their liege, so I assumed that even the Twilight Thorn was also something that Roxas once considered a subordinate, although it is never stated in game I think. Even Xemnas had the castle turn into a nobody dragon. And we only ever see the Spectre, Twilight Thorn, and Dragon nobodies once. So I assumed that they were either special nobodies akin to the more human looking numbered members of the Organization just not quite as special as them, or were an amalgamation of nobodies to make them stronger and given specific looks to make them stand out. But that is huge speculation on my part. Regardless it was a super interesting video, Bio!
The change to the background at 3:25 makes it look like you're in the Lanes Between from BBS. Kind of makes me wonder whether they were just reusing resources or if there might be some connection there.
Circle Reject is devestating if you don't pick up all your cards because itll destroy them, its unlikely to happen but that includes your Reload Card irrc
Sadly its not like that. He said he plans 2 games at time, he just connects little details in previous games as he wish later in the years, but I'd wish it was like you said..
3:25 Can anyone mention how this new background recalls the original battlefield from the GBA version ? Like, a dark colored background with stars flying around? The Mega Flare-like attack in the original CoM is actually the reused Blossom Shower sleight from the previous fight. Same for the scythe attack regarding Deathscythe. In the original, the little cross attacks are all sent in one card, while in the remake, each cross attack is sent one card at a time.
It was ventus, but not of his own free will. Darkness is the true perpetrator of her murder aka a early form of vanitus or a part with in him of currently unknown to us.
I’m so happy that Nomura is referencing older kh titles. Also...sora has a special person inside his heart. And Streletzia may have beef with that special person... It’s so sad that she failed to avenge herself. This is getting deep and I love it.
Fun Fact Lauriam (Marluxia's Somebody) has the Divine Rose Keyblade. So their family could be a bloodline of Keyblade Wielders. Just not Rose Keyblades specifically due to Strelitzia having the Starlight Keyblade
FINALLY!!!!! I had theories about this as soon as Union X confirmed that Marluxia was Strelitzia brother. I’ve always wonder why Marluxia specter looked like a human girl.
"A Princess of Heart can never turn into a Heartless, but (if necessary) they can produce a Nobody." If the White Coat Strelitzia appear in Lauriums dream, does that mean she has similar abilities like Namine? If Strelitzia was straight up dead, there should have not been a reason for that White Coat Strelitzia to appear. It's possible she might have created a Nobody and her heart being in the Final World or maybe awoke as a heartless or human. Kairi was able to create Namine when she was set free from Sora's heart, so Strelitzia could have created one when she died. Maybe she is one of the "New seven hearts"?
That's Spectre always creeped me out as a kid when I played this boss and I always knew something was up with it because to have that face cloaked while guarding its host says it's a separate consciousness from the antagonist. In other words the assassin in darkness waiting to strike or the channeling of a will from beyond the grave protecting it's loved ones.
Nomura was into some occult shit, man. He also drew the final boss artwork for FF6, with Kefka depicting of an imagery of Dante's Inferno, and him being Jesus being on Mary's lap after his death then turning into Lucifer. The Mary boss had a hood on too, just like spectre here. Marluxia represents Jesus and that woman is Mary. Nomura was really into that Judeo-Christian imagery with his art. At the time in Japan, it was edgy to feature those symbolisms and occult knowledge in anime and JRPG. Also, Nomura did the final boss artwork for Sephiroth with Sephiroth turning into a Angel god. And his name is based off from the Jewish Kabblah and the Tree of Life. It seemed like an ongoing Square trend to have the final boss being some angelic figure or using creepy beings for final boss.
Never thought Marluxia’s nobody fiend had so much backstory and depth. Played the GBA Chain of Memories for years growing up. Never gave it a second thought.
I could see the first being a Nobody and the last phase being a Guardian like entity similar to what Ansem has in KH1 (which we now know has more importance)
I think the 2nd Phase fight is her Nobody, and the Final Phase is her Heartless. The Angel has Yellow Eyes, and also the Skull on her head has Yellow Eyes as well which is usually a trait of Darkness/Heartless.
That KH3 skull when coming out of the muck, and maybe I'm stretching this, but it looks like it has bangs like Strelitzia at the beginning before the muck falls off showing a simple skull. Maybe they wanted to show something that has a semblance to her.
Two things: 5:50 Circle Reject has a hidden property. If you were previously hit by Whirlwind to the Void and still have any cards laying on the field, circle reject will blow them away from the field making it so you can't get them back for the remainder of the fight. Your reload card can be blown away via this method if you're not careful. 5:30 Regarding Doom. I haven't found anyone that's been able to give me an answer to this, but if you currently have the Platinum card, which makes Sora invincible, will you be able to survive Doom?
Wait. KH second phase. 3 stories, 6 new playable characters. Isa and Lea looking for Subject X, Lauriam and Elrena looking for Strelitzia and Luxord and Yozora looking for the nameless star????
normally i dont like to comment on old videos, but this turned up in my recommended videos page and i can't help but notice that the different phases of this boss remind me of the Genova and Bizarro Sephiroth designs from FF7, though no one else mentioned it so maybe it's just me
Bio-Roxas the hardest part will be deciphering what terra said xd nah but seriously all we can really make out is “so, you finally found the strength to protect what you hold dear”
to me the specter is just a pre-kh 3 version of the nobody mooks that marluxia controls. like Saix with the Berserkers, Roxas with Samurais, Xigbar with Snipers.
I don’t think it’s her nobody because we know nobodies are created from a being losing their heart. Like when a being’s heart is consumed by darkness or a heartless stealing a heart (the Traverse Town NPC) or a keyblade extracting a heart (Org 13 researchers). We can’t be sure her heart was stolen or extracted in a way so that she became a nobody when she died. The specter maybe is just a representation of marluxias memories of her. something he was able to summon cause of their bond
Is it weird I hope strelizia in the white cloak is the final boss of union x cross I think her boss would have 3 phases 1 her normal form where she summons a keyblade and fights the player with pink based attack and magic then her second form she turns into the specter and charges and makes pink slashes that explode with rose petals and her third and final form is the angel of death / grim reaper where there is a doom curse depending on how much time it takes you to defeat her if not defeated in Time you are defeated and second chance once more and your pet cant revive you I think it would be a very challenging fight but at the end strelizia is defeated she and the player meet and her heart goes to lauriam/ marluxia and the last time we see her is during the boss fight with marluxia
Do you think you'll ever do a recap video on the timeline/events of KHuX? I've never played the game and didn't know it would have important lore at first and by the time I realized that it was years later so I'm pretty lost at the important info that pops up through this game lol
At 1:55 I think the head of the specter the flower on top of the head is the bangs and hair while the wings are strelizia pigtails you already pointed it out not trying to copy what your saying just thought about it while watching it and why would strelizia help her brother if he is obviously on the side of darkness probably to get revenge and help her brother find her killer maybe .
Once again Nomura has been playing the long con w us. I assumed the skull was a reference to the Doom spell since Doom often is accompanied w a skull in FF but the nod to Strellazia's death is valid. Also growing up I always thought Spectre had an uncanny resemblance to Jenova
Only thing I want to understand is where she came from because the Specter wasn't hinted at at all during the story at least that I saw and then final boss it appears and somehow he confused with it since when can people from the organization fuse with their nobody's because if this is an ability why didn't everyone do that
@@BioRoxas I can see that. Plus think about this the original Arc that was in a variant of radiant garden before its fall to darkness and it makes me wonder did he use the arc and at one point was in the the castle of hollow bastion before becoming a nobody in kingdom hearts 1 indicating when he made contact with xemnas.
@@BioRoxas ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BUXp7q5mcf8.html we have also encountered her in kingdom hearts 3 re mind surprising or the girl yozora is searching for.
Not just chain. Even in days he's the second strongest member statewide, usually only a single point behind in most catagories. Maybe he was a late bloomer?
I mean he used to be a Keyblade wielder in an age where factions of wielders would constantly face each other to gather light resulting in a massive war. Would be kind of disappointing if he wasn't.
So question, since for a human to return, both their Nobody and Heartless must be defeated so if we find and defear Strelitzia's heartless in Unino X, she will return. If I manage to predict the future wow since it's a shot in the dark.
This boss goes under my radar a lot since it was originally on a gameboy advance, but it’s actually pretty insane. Shouldn’t he be considered like top 3 most powerful members of the organization?
