The last part is a perfect example why I admire CJ so much. The kindness he shows to Steve about the rough last couple of weeks he has endured is awesome. Good on him.
Treliving has a pretty track record of signing or trading for defensemen, he got Weegar in the Tkachuk deal, acquired Dougie Hamilton, similar with Zadorov, signed Tanev, etc. I am sure that's pretty high on MLSE and Shanahan's mind when they hired Tree. If say Tree can get a similar package (Huberdeau, Weegar + 1 rounder) for 1 of core 4/5 (not Matty), I am sure the fanbase would be over the moon.
@@anthonyfaccaro7118No fan base? I have been a fan for about 65 years. If the fan base could survive and grow through the Ballard years as it did, it will survive and continually grow in the future.
I miss when the president of an NHL teams job was just to deal with non hockey related operations, like sourcing cheap butter for the popcorn or where the beer vendors should be located in the arena. Now they're basically the GM with the power to dictate and veto anything the actual GM does
This is Shanny's last year if the Leafs don't progress. It's the final year on his contract also with Pelley in I think MLSE will erase the "president" job and Tre will answer directly to Pelley as reported by some of the hockey writers.
Now that Utah has joined, has there been any talk of re-alignment within the 2 Western Conference divisions ? Suggestion: Given natural rivalries & taking geography into account, how’s about Avs & Utah go to Pacific and Flames & Oilers come to Central ? Just sayin’.
@@johnefrederick1590 I mean not necessarily, there’s teams that could do it. Would Mitch waive his nmc to go to any of those teams? probably not, but it’s possible, unlikely but possible
Chris mention that he didn't know many events that a quarter of a countries population watches. Here's one, a third of the Canadian population watched the Tragically Hip's final concert.
Steve and Chris you trade marner to Calgary with lilejgren and jarnkrok for markstrom and Anderson you pair Anderson with Reilly you then dip into free agency and sign pesce and zadorov or tanev McCabe and Benoit are your 5 th and 6 th d and Webber as your 7 th thus solves your goaltending and defence now you work on the forward position
Yes, according Steve I'm a sick puppy. Wuhuuh!!! 😂🎉 In all honesty i find under 18 and 20 year old world championship's quite appealing. Then again I'm Finnish and we love hockey just loke Canadian's do too.
Im amazed that someone apparently working in hockey for decades, who is literally on a hockey tournament in Europe right now, has no idea how to pronounce the home nation’s name. We aint Chechnya bro thats elsewhere
@@Sir_GodzMore successful passes for staeters, more space for wingers to wind up. JT could have a million assists. Dont care what adam wylde says, goals dont happen without good passing.
Why all this talk of sheldon keefe being the youngest head coach? Like just currently? Because mike sullivan was 35 when he got the bench boss job in Boston...
Guy Boucher will go to NJ, follows Keefe, also Guy coach Nico the year before his draft. IMO i much rather Jessica Campbell for PP coach if im the Devils but this year Fitzy has been clueless and bad. Even tho Devils dont need a PK guy cuz they have their guy in McGill(top 12 PK in the last two years) Now Boucher for D coach and help with PK yes.
Honestly with Gio its not even a 8 going its an 8 RETIRING. The Guy's 40 years old and is starting to show his age a bit so I wouldn't be surprised if he retires this year.
Having Auston and Willie fall ill killed the Leafs and cost Keefe his job. Special credit to Mitchie who did nothing in the playoffs as usual. Should have kept Hyman and traded Marner
Even though I know it to be the case it's a bit funny when North Americans say that NHL is for casuals and the World Championship is for hardcores when it's the other way around here.
I would move away from Jarnkrok, Robertson, Liljegren, Timmins. Strangely, I'd be up for Klingberg coming back at something like 1 million. PS Honestly, the only Marner trade I would like is to Columbus for Werenski. Big, talented 26 year old defender.
It won't matter. The cancer is still in the organization. Shanahan and the Board of Governors are still there and THEY are part of the problem. Shanahan has to go. It is still going to be the same old Leafs. The roster needs to be taken apart and rebuilt and Shanahan has to go. Or it will be the same next year. The irony would be the Habs making the postseason next year and knocking out the Leafs. And it would be poetic justice.
So when it comes to discussing the Maple Leafs, since the sportscasters at both sports networks are "contractually obligated" to talk about the Leafs, do they really think hockey fans outside Toronto care? When you haven't won a Stanley Cup in 57 years and counting, why bother? I just visit here because it's comical to think the Leafs mean anything.
Tavares if he won’t wave best case scenario is to let him play out next season and for Tavares to agree to resign to a low contract like 4.5 million x 3 years he still could be a 70 point center because let’s face it the leafs do not have a 2 Nd line center anywhere in there organization so I envision this as our top two lines Bertuzzi Matthews domi Mcmann Tavares nylander
It's a shame Russia doesn't get to compete internationally. We never punished American athletes for the illegal military operations of their government.
