@@tramachi7027 funny enough it would actually make a good defence position actually. the "Shaft" sticks out breaking up enemies units, the "balls" below prevents the sides of the "shaft" being flanked, it could also be used as a artillery base. Dear god i actually was talking about cock and balls in a military context. what have we come to.

This looks great! With relatively little gameplay shown so far, I was concerned how it was coming together. The new additions: Defensive structures, LOS tool working with elevation, longer ranges, capture points, efficient shot... Before even getting to the strategic layer this looks well worth the upgrade. Nice.

great to see that you now can make a lot of value out of the tigers! this mode might become damn intense in multiplayer. the defender might have reinforced defenses like barbwire and stuff but it also takes more time to get his soldiers to the front, than it is for the attacker. i just hope they tweak the ai a bit more. got the feeling the ai in the first installment was smarter than this one here.

I still feel like tanks are WAYYYY too powerful in this game. There's almost no point of bringing out infantry which goes against the awesome combined arms play style used in SD44

My thoughts exactly. Tanks are more powerful due to the significantly increased as well as SIGNIFICANTLY increased availability. When I saw Panzergrens priced at 45 and Panther Gs at 140 vs the 35 and 280 in SD44 all I could think is just wtf. I can expect it just to devolve into tank spam, exactly what WG players would want. No more cool combined arms with mortars or infantry support weapons or interesting infantry micro just attack moving blobs of tanks. Seeing such cheaply priced Tigers in A was also jarring, why even purchase Panzer IVs or StuGs let alone Renault tanks when you can just immediately get end game tanks. Infantry definitely formed the backbone of the previous title and all other units existed to support them, whereas here I get the vibe that tanks have superseded infantry in that role.

I'm no fan of the new UI style. Everything is tiny and hard to read. I really liked the SD:44 one, from an aesthetic and functional viewpoint. It will probably be different for people accustomed to WarGame since that was a bunch of dark boxes too.

I like that it's small. Sd44 ui felt too big. After awhile, you'll memorize keybinds and such and itll be easier. But a true MVP move would be to make it so you can scale the UI

I hope the unit icons are not final. They look significantly worse than in Steel Division. Also, I'm really annoyed that the inner parts of the forests are "light" and the outer "dense". That makes absolutely no sense.

I agree, in fact I think the entire UI and aesthetic of the game is up to the same calibre as SD:N44. I would theorise that the UI design teams were hit hardest in all that downsizing the company went through. I hope they either update it, so the UI looks more like SD:N44 or we get a community mod to do it. Luckily the rest of the game is looking pretty good.

Seems to me the 37mm pak are pretty much a waste of time when you've already got Tigers/Panthers in strong positions. Surely sensible deployment of the 75mm would be the go; one of them did very well while the 37s did nothing. If the tanks can hold, taking a bit more time to get the 75s in their pits would be well worth it. Can you put those pits in forest edges to get some OHP and concealment? Something to consider. Lastly, are flak 88s not available? They went pretty air heavy, although having said that they didn't seem to achieve a lot. Would expect IL-2s to be a PITA for vehicles and troops, and not easy for 20mm AAA to deal with. Looks good, but then I've always been far more interested in the Eastern Front than the Western as it was by far the decisive one (and the Soviets have some cool vehicles of their own). Speaking of which, run into any ISU-152s? I bet infantry love them, lol.

This game looks absolutely fantastic! I simply LOVE the new maps and spoting mechanics!!! I just wish they made infantry and vehicles more diverse in supression and survivability mechanics. Vehicles should be supressed like it works now but infantry should be much more easily supressed but allso at the same time insanely more difficult to spot and kill. This has buged me with all the Wargame games. The whole point of armoured vehicles are their ability to advance despite taking fire when the infantry can’t. Edit: Maybe infantry supression should even be reversed. When fired upon they should be instantly supressed, taking cover becoming invisible and imobile and then gradually regain situational awareness and initiative... 🤔 I know it’s a french game but I doubt even frensh infantry marsh around the battlefield in big square formations with banners like it were the 18’th century.

They are making artillery more accurate in radius and better fire rate. I think that they wrote it in one dev diary. also Hold Ctrl will this buff disable and arty fire as ussual

I hope they get rid of the frontline, it's just meta gaming and prevents smart flanks. Maybe have a frontline move when a key point is taken.

When they release divisions that focus more on recon we might see some more sneaky tactics since recon vehicles no longer affect the frontline. I don't think it's impossible to flank or make surprise attacks though since the frontline doesn't indicate anything more than potentially one unit.

and the reason the Soviet tanks broke down was because they made them only as good as they had to so as to increase production, with the German tanks they tried to make them perfect but they just sucked lmfao. they made neither reliable nor numerous tanks.

They will likely improve AI as the beta progresses. I did however meme on them pretty hard with my Tigers, basically spawn killing.

Another thing is playing offensively is pretty hard when the enemy has entrenched infantry, tanks in the forest, and AA support for all of their vehicles.

then it seems like AI is not really optimized for this game mod at that difficulty it should be challenge for any good player and it should be able to awoide spawn killing in sd44 ai seemed stronger but even then i needed to play with very easy ai against two mediums for challenging 1v1 hope here they make 1v1 ai stronger

And again infantry squad is only 10 mens... Should be more than just one squad. It should be one company - about 100 -120 soldiers and with option to divide it into 4 independent platoons. Game would be much more spectacular

Holy cow the Russians got rinsed, great use of LoS and topography, hammer them from range and tank the return is how Tigers and panthers roll, plus the soviets seemed to neglect big arty and attack AT planes in favour of URAing more men and tanks into the slaughterhouse, major victory indeed

Quite excited about this. Looks much better than SD1. Does anyone know which version of the game is best to buy? There is like 3 and I want the most amount of in-game content possible without other stuff like soundtrack, wallpapers, etc... The only bad thing is that my shitty laptop cant run it. You are correct, although they are adding four of the allied divisions (which you can get if you owned SD:N44) from the previous game for skirmish and multiplayer. Potentially more later on.

Skeptical. Remain overly concerned that this is just a WG reskin rather than a proper SD title. Eugen just doesn't get that there has been a bifurcation in their playerbase. There is nothing they can do to win over miserable RD players.

Don't fix what isn't broken? They have added new music amongst the old tracks too. Many game developers recycle audio clips throughout series of games.
