it's not his amp, and orange sucks, they are nothing like they originally were, I have a friend who still has his stack from the early 70's, the same orange amp now is toneless, and these tiny terrors, the only terror is finding out you spent money on the junk!
Bill Kelliher talking about his stuff: I use 2,000 fiber count fabric for the grill for better sound dispersion. I use a second gain channel for more granular gain control. Brent Hinds talking about his stuff: It's orange and does loud noises.
At 1:21 his fast hybrid picking style is pretty jaw-dropping! I read that he developed it because he originally played the banjo before discovering the guitar in his late teens, which is another extremely cool thing on its own (being able to play the banjo!).
@@thegimpsometimes5937 You're actually right, man. Given the fact that I'm not from the South of the US, (I'm not even American to be fair) I assumed that 'hybryd picking' would be the right definition (he uses a pick and his fingers after all, hence the word 'hybrid'). 'Chicken Picking' is definitely the correct definition though.
Chicken pickin is done with two finger picks dongus. Every bluegrass banjo player uses them when picking, or at least the fast pickers do anyway. Roy Clark is a monster on the banjo and all stringed instruments. One of the best musicians who ever lived, and he was on Hee Haw lol
To all the people complaining about the sound, everything about this commercial is a joke. The scripted banter, the playing, the tone, the mic placement. Learn to laugh.
Eddy Buckhorn Why would they put out a video of an amp that sounds like shit? They don't make these videos just for the hell of it; they make these to sell amps. Who wants to buy an amp that sounds like dog shit in the demo? I've never played one and have no idea how they sound in person, but why not make the same video with a better mic setup/placement/mix? We'd all get to laugh and people would actually want to buy the thing.
To be fair, it's not exactly slapstick - it's very subtle and dry humor. I couldn't tell if it was a joke or not, which was the goal of the video I think.
What a truly humble genius. Amazing guitar player and even better of a vocalist. No bullshit ego like most guitar players have. Brent is as real as you can get in the industry.
Had diner with this guy after a Rob Zombie Mastadon show in Lubbock TX,all of Mastadon but especially Brent and Braun were so amazing to my late mother, they made here feel so special and loved I'll never forget that. This man has a heart of pure gold .
Damn. All these years later and EVERYBODY still gets the BLACK SABBATH-ORANGE AMPS connection wrong. Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler have clarified this many MANY times in interviews. BLACK SABBATH did this one single performance on a TV show in 1970 or 71 in which the backline was all ORANGE amps. BLACK SABBATH NEVER recorded or toured with ORANGE amps. Tony and Geezer played through LANEY amps only in the late 60s early 70s.
Black Sabbath...."more crushing" ....were they not CRUSHING enough? Laney,Orange, Marshall, Sunn, Hiwatt, Sound City, Traynor...they all kinda "crushed"
craigdamage I believe that old paranoid video is the TV show in France. Orange amps may have been borrowed. Laney were serious back then! Warren deMartini loved them in the 80s.
omg, this is the best interview of an artist whom i'm not even sure if he actually uses this or he cares what's going on. mastodon rocks, in everywhere.
I love the random filled sentences mixed with the body language of sincerity. It brings joy and hope to my labor filled uninteresting redundant life. Keep expressing the soul and working hard my fellow inhabitants.
When it comes to views Brent Hinds just slays. You guys should just have him present everything 🤣. New Jim Root signature Rockerverb, presented by Brent Hinds 🤘🤘🤘
😂🤣 I actually want to buy one now. Just saw Mastodon a few days ago live here in London. I was the only dude waiting 2 hours to meet the band one by one as they came out. I fucking love their sound and humor. I consider myself SUPER lucky to have met them twice already. I always manage to catch something. Last time it was Bill's pick and now Brann's drumstick! This time Bill GAVE me his pick from his pocket outside the show and signed it. Got drunk Brann to sign his drumstick too! Pictures with each of them too! I'm so fucking happy just talking about it! Ok, I'll stop showing off.
Iommi was known to use a 50-watt Marshall plexi before his Sabbath days and during the writing process for the first album. In Iommi's early days he used a Gibson SG and Les Paul guitars, a Jaydee Custom SG, a Fender Telecaster, a Steinberger Transtrem guitar, a Gibson J50 acoustic and a Fender nylon strung classical guitar. Amplification was by Laney GH100TI amplifiers, a Laney VC30 amplifier, a Marshall 2554 amplifier and Laney speakers. In the past, he used mostly P90's and stock humbuckers (and strats on real early stuff). He used Duncan Custom shop pickups in his Patrick Eggle Custom guitars, and now he actually uses his Gibson Iommi sig pickups. But to be specific I believe most the 70's stuff was P90. Iommi played a Strat into a Laney on the first Sabbath album, briefly played a Gibson SG, and then played custom made Patrick Eggle guitars. but we think of him as a Gibson/Orange guy because that's what was played in their first US appearance (and Iommi has said he hates Orange amps, and Laney is the bee's knees). ----- Copy/Paste of random stuff I found. Some of this could be wrong, FYI. :-)
Haha search for the video where mike sits downm and talks amp with the orange CEO or whatever and think again...matt pike is a A-hole in that vid, not listening to the guy and interupts, only waiting and figuriong out what to say when it´s his turn. so i dont think that´s going to happen
because no one trying to sell an amp would leave it sounding dry but if you use a reverb pedal it can also colour the sound & make it sound wet so if you mix the room it gives you the same effect but stays dry leaving the actual amp tone. my Orange amp sounds exactly the same in rehearsals room which is why I knock off the reverb when rehearsing.
I highly doubt this video is intended to sell as opposed to entertain considering almost no information about the amp was given and they've mixed a ton of the room in with a PPC212ob, which already has a "roomy" sound.
Yea,so everyone is aware,Tony Iommi never used Orange amps. Brent just complemented Laney amps during an Orange amp interview to talk about his own Orange amp XD and got away with it.
Metalhead Lazz If you watch the paranoid video the one that looks like it has the dude from David letterman’s band, Paul Schaffer, superimposed in the background,
Thank goodness you made us all aware!!!!!! I can’t imagine if I’d led the rest of of my life thinking Tony Iommi used Orange amps. Just think of all the embarrassing campfire moments, my feature on Snopes, my whole life a lie. You saved us all, friend. Great work!!!!!
Hilarious! I bet these will sell like hot cakes!! ORANGE AMPS, please make an AD version of this with bedroom switch and effects loop... Id say most guitar players are at home playAS
