I did my research and came to the conclusion it was time to get a BrenTune from BT-Moto. I'm really happy with the purchase and how the tune has gave my bike a new character. It's almost like having a new bike.

You’re one of the few, if not only, guys on here that have done the BT and headers on a R1250. I’m hoping you will make a review of both together that focuses more on the performance and sound and less on the quick shifter. Shifting on the Boxers with shaft drive will never be smooth without a clutch. Thanks!

Thanks for checking out the videos. I’m sure other people have done it they just don’t make RU-vid videos about it. 😆 actually I made a few videos on the topic of the headers and the BT Moto tune. Here’s a few: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tnWim5JbeKU.htmlsi=-vq48B-YPFSCZsRH. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YfjxGFE-9xQ.htmlsi=sAAPpseghMDm_fx1 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zSUft1lKpl8.htmlsi=4jJMXK_1s4YbeAR8 I’ll probably put together another video in the future after I’ve had the setup for a while. But just know I’m very happy with it. Definitely a boost in performance, better idle, better structured engine profile, removed all limiters more instant access to the throttle. The sound is improved deeper and more raspy, but not too loud. I’d have to take out the slip on baffles for more sound. However, for me I believe that would be too loud. Thanks again for checking out the vids. BTW, I’m guessing you ride an RS? If not, what are you riding? Safe journeys!

Ok I’ve had mine for about a thousand miles. Coming from a 98RT, when the RS was basically the same bike with less wind protection, I can’t get over how much smaller this bike is. I will probably go with a 1300RT, after it’s introduced and they work the bugs, if any, out of it. This RS is fine for touring if you take breaks to recover every few hours. I don’t remember having to do that with my RT. Oh and btw, rounding up I’m only 5’8”.

Thanks for checking out the video and commenting. I typically will pull over and rest everyone to one and a half hours on my RS. A few things you can do to make the RS much more comfortable and tour worthy is to get bar risers a touring screen and if need be dropping the foot pegs a little lower. Since we are both 5’8” tall lowering the pegs is unnecessary. I do not want barriers or a tall touring screen. If I was going to do that I would just spend the extra money and buy an RT as you mentioned. RT has a much more upright seating position and is more comfortable for long-haul riding than the RS.

There is a clue in the feature; quick means adding revs. Too many folk use the quickshifter as if it was an automatic. No quickshifter will be smooth between 1 and 2 because it can see neutral and there is (almost) a hesitation to pass it smoothly. You need revs to be quick and smooth, not just for boxer twins, for any type of engine. The smoothness when coming down the box is through rev matching, something I found the machine sorts out nicely.

@Texas2Tires 3 месяца назад
True but the inline 4s and 6s I’ve ridden are way smoother than any boxer. In fact the new boxer 1300 claims to be smoother as BMW repositioned the transmission and rebuilt the entire engine layout. Anyway I’m very happy with the tune and it has smoothed out the shifter a bit.

Get the Blackwidow header with de cat and flapper valve delete . Game changer . I've gone back and forth with BT moto on my 2023 R1250RS , but I still have warranty for 2 years or 28,xxx miles . Also did your dealer ever check / adjust you cam timing ? Every 1250 I've touched has been off . You can see my photos on TWT aka two wheel texans forum . FYI we both know Chuck Mendez

Hi Bryan thanks for checking out the video and thank you for your insights. Yes my dealer has checked the cam. I’m really enjoying the extra punch from the tune. I also like the look of the titanium headers on the bike. As it anodizes, they’ll look even better. Chuck is good peeps! You based in Houston? How do I find your pics on TWT?

Excellent video! Very detailed! Question is their a connection between the Tune and the quick shifter? Would that help it? Second, to me the RS Boxer engine is designed so that I do not feel like I need to change gears a lot to get some power. I have rode my RS in second or third gear when I on most bikes I should have been either in a higher or lower gear and I was able to access power or do whatever I needed to in that gear for the most part. Many people do not like the Boxer engine for some reason but I do. I am glad that you identified a lot of positive things about this bike and it's engine. Next time I ride my bike I will pay more attention to see if I experience some of the things you reported. Also, why did you select Bren Tune was there other options? And is it an expensive process and are their dealers that would do this for a customer? I need to go and check out your Sargent Seat Episode again. Is it leather and why Sargent and not Corbin Seat or other if you do not mind me asking. I am just curious about your process. BTW your bike looks new and every time I look at your bike I see why I got one too! BTW your analytical process and Mindfulness is fun to watch! Thanks great job!

Yes it is one of the areas that the tune says it will help, smooth out the quick shifter. Anyone that has ever ridden a boxer can't complain about the performance. Typically they complain about the look "heads sticking out" and the vibration of the engine. The BrenTune from BT-Moto was recommended to me by many friends including the BMW sports bike ambassador Nate Kern (@N8.Kern). The tune costs about $895 USD. I chose Sargent over Corbin for two main reasons. The Sargent seat looks much better than the Corbin for my bike and it is much less expensive. Thanks for always checking out my videos. I'm very happy that you like them and you find them beneficial.

@Texas2Tires Thanks! I will look at the video again on the Sargent seat to see the install process. One last question, does the Brent tune effect future services on your bike in any way at the dealer? Also would a bmw dealer do the Brent Tune for a customer or any dealer. Thanks

@Texas2Tires 3 месяца назад
@@p-dub7422 From what I understand, you have to reinstall your stock ecu mapping before bringing the bike in for service. Then after service, reinstall the BrenTune. I don’t think a BMW dealer would install a tune but other mechanics would probably be more than happy to charge you for that service. My next service is in 6,000 miles, so no need for me to worry about the tune until then. I believe BT-Moto.com has instructions about changing the tune prior to servicing the bike.

Part of the setup of this includes making a saved copy of the factory tune, which can be returned to at any time in a way that a dealer wouldn't know the difference. My RS left warranty last November. Was going to get a de-catted Akra headers this summer but instead, I broke my femur rollerskating and won't be back on my bike until July. This will still be my next mod. Any thoughts on bumping this to a stage-2 w/their velocity stacks? They verified the stacks will fit our RSes via email to me.

Thanks for watching the video and commenting, appreciate it. Yes there is the stock file that needs to be loaded each time the bike goes into service. Not sure if it is true, but according to some on RU-vid it was said that BMW can tell if a bike’s ecu has been flashed. Sorry to hear about your leg, wish you a speedy recovery. I did see and think about the stage 2, but for now I’m happy with the tune and the new headers.

Check the ASA - Automated Shift Assistant by BMW - they uploaded short on their RU-vid channel. I wonder how much that option will cost. Honda’s e-clutch is ~$200 so I guess BMW will be $500-700 :) Cheers!

I saw that. There’s also a bunch of industry news in print about this. They also have a video with a bike driving in auto pilot with no rider. I feel sad for the future of motorcycles. There will be no need for rider inputs on future bikes and they will all be electric. 😢
@jarosawskrzypek1373
@jarosawskrzypek1373 3 месяца назад
@@Texas2Tires Bike riding itself without rider sounds good for fast delivery services in the future :) I'm more optimistic, I rode Energica bikes and they are great, so future with electric to me seems fine and promising. Concerning ASA, you really don't like that idea either? To me it sounds great. You can still ride bike like you used to (changing gears yourself) but you will not complain about clunky quikshifter ;) If you're in the city traffic you have an option to go full auto which is awesome to me. Would you like to drive your car with stick in the city? I would never go back to manual gear box in the car. Even more sporty, enthusiasts models are better with dual clutch auto vs manual. But hey, that's me :)
