i sang this rendition of Poor Unfortunate souls for a musical audition and i made the director laugh, and she said "We'll let you know" after a weeks of waiting i got the part Thank you Brian Charles Rooney
Nice performance! Casting a male as Ursula actually works really well. There was recently a production of The Little Mermaid with John Treacy Egan (who was Chef Louis in the original Little Mermaid Broadway cast) as Ursula, and he was incredible. I feel the reason it works so well is because the original animated character was based on the drag queen Divine, and Pat Carroll still brought some of that in her performance. This was something that was lacking in Sherie Rene Scott's performance as Ursula.
This brings me so much pleasure. Not only is the fellow unbelievably handsome and has a great voice, the performance even has this comical relief to it that it ought to have. Bravo!
I've only just discovered this song (never saw the cartoon, can't wait for the Live action thing to come out!), and I've been binge watching different versions of this, and this one is nearly perfect. Totally should have casted this guy in the live action version.
Dude... I just listened to a few others and this guy beats all of the women out! Surrendering fully to the character is important. ESPECIALLY, when singing a villain's song.
