The Rolling Stones: Brian Jones and The Stones:
In the crucible of creative fervor that birthed The Rolling Stones, a tumultuous dynamic unfolded between two titans of rock and roll-Brian Jones and Mick Jagger. United by a shared passion for music, their camaraderie initially fueled the band's meteoric rise, but as success beckoned, an undercurrent of rivalry emerged, casting a shadow over the once-unbreakable bond.
Ultimately, the tension between Brian Jones and Mick Jagger became a defining chapter in the narrative of The Rolling Stones. It laid bare the complexities of creative partnerships, the weight of fame, and the toll of internal power struggles. The echoes of their rivalry lingered, shaping the destiny of the band and forever imprinting the legacy of The Rolling Stones in the annals of rock and roll history.

"In 1966, I witnessed, on numerous occasions, the remarkable spell Brian would cast while working in the recording studio. Mick and Keith would bring songs in, Brian would listen and effectively take charge, and everyone was in awe of him. He was a real perfectionist. While recording the recorder part in Ruby Tuesday he explained to me that he had to do it over again as he had been a quarter tone off tune."--Prince Stash Klossowski de Rola (artist and friend of the Stones) in Brian Jones: Butterfly in the Park.

Bullshit story, Theater Poop... Recorders can not go out of tune. You will cling to any crap you read about Jones, won't you.

Btw, Gene Clark made it clear that Brian co-wrote Eigh Miles High. So much for certain people saying Brian couldn't write. ;)
@ardalla535
@ardalla535 6 месяцев назад
rubbish. Gene said he wrote the song and Brian was in the room and they were having a conversation. Brian never wrote lyrics to anything. He contributed a few riffs and played the odd instrument ... that's about it.
@TheaterPup
@TheaterPup 6 месяцев назад
Honey, writing riffs is part of songwriting. It's not just lyrics. You understand songs aren't just poems right? And Gene was not merely saying Brian was in the room. I'm embarrassed for you that you said that. Please do better before commenting again. @@ardalla535

If Gene Clark of all people who was given official credit, is giving co writers credit to Brian , then that is greatly significant. There’s also the Nanker Phelge credited songs which includes all five group members.i think Brian explained on the most recent film of Rolling Stones and Brian Jones, these were made up in the studio. However, that’s the way some of the Beatles originals were written.

@@richardbanker3910Gene has said he wrote the words to the song after a conversation with Brian, he obviously got an idea or some inspiration from what they talked about but that is all, Brian was not involved in the writing.

“Brian’s pioneering status as a musician has become steadily less obvious thanks to the very success of his mission. The blues and world music that he championed and dragged into the mainstream have become so ubiquitous that we all suffer a hindsight bias-we find it impossible to imagine what the world was like without this music. As counter-intuitive as it might seem, this is proof of Brian’s accomplishment.”-Sympathy for the Devil by Paul Trynka

The Stones went on to become mega-stars after Brian Jones death. He was vital to their early sound but that diminished by 1968.

Ironically he was a friend of Jimi Hendrix. But he was too messed up to plug into the kind of creativity that made Jimi so great. He was burning out on Mandrax and giving up. I still think he was murdered though.

Brian was the leader. But if he could write more than bits he would've been like a co-leader. I think Ruby Tuesday is his and Keith's really. But he was swept away by the whole London-Picadilly Circus atmosphere and the girls and the parties and the drugs. If he lived he would've been a part of something where his BITS were recognized and fed off of. But he was never a front man and his insecurities grew when Mick and Keith became a songwriting team. And having 4 or 5 kid before he was 19 didn't help much either. Not so easy being a Rolling Stone for real; even if he could act the gentleman with girls parents.
@TheaterPup
@TheaterPup 6 месяцев назад
He didn't just write "bits." He was their George Martin, he arranged the songs they brought in, helped make them hits. And I'm not sure why his personal life gets scolded, as though every other rock star doesn't do the same thing.

@@TheaterPup..that simply isn't true. Even Mick didn't get five different women pregnant and dump them by the time he was in his early twenties. And that's only the ones we know about.If he had lived he probably would have been a closer comparison to The Duggar family patriarch than a rock star.
