Another cracking job Izzy, Drew certainly getting a good work out for the marines ! Well explained and your attention to detail is exceptional . Respect from Scotland.
Thanks so much mate! Untill a year or so ago I was still in a gang mate, just takes time and practice...and some confidence to go do it! You got this! And confidence will come with experience bud
Invest in a little clip on mic bro. The wind noise is a pain in the hole. Love the videos though mate I’m a truck driver and I sit here and watch these at night. I would love to try bricklaying for a day hard work but yous are great at it. Respect from 🏴
Nice job Izzy. Full joints on the block-work says a lot about you 👍 Shame Drew has got stir crazy in these last weeks. Drew I'm sure you watch these vids. I know you're leaving for something you wanna do badly but don't burn your bridges on the journey to the other side mate. You never know what the future brings. You've had a great mentor up till now. Not many young people get personal training like that. Good luck in the Marines 👍👍
Appreciate your support as always my mate Doug! He's still smashing it, had him wamming some bricks on a garden wall yesterday, each one bang on! I think he should definitely make a channel so we can all follow him on his journey!😉💪🤜🤛
I am merely a self taught amateur bricky. I do it myself because I can not find a good one. I love the neat crispness of your work. Loads of tips. Thanks for posting. One question, I did not notice any ties in the bulk of the wall.
Brilliant mate! I'm also self taught 🤜🤛 appreciate the comment, new video out today ☺️ erm I'm pretty sure I would have put ties in that wall 💪 hopefully 😂
Nice one. Getting inspiration and the hands-on know-how for an ambitious self-build on a tight narrow site between two semis where I reckon one facade will need to be built overhand (how the hell will I get it pointed sweet?!!) Subscribed and looking forward for more content.
Depends on if you can see the brickwork from the other side. If it can be seen your gonna have to point it mate. Best to do 3/4 course and then stand on something like a hope to reach over and down the point it up💪
Top man Izzy. Think we'd all like to work with you and crack on, enjoy and have a cheeky pint or two after. Good tips for everyone too. Class man. Best to you God bless!
Thanks so much mate, do appreciate all the support! I've got a new lad with me now! Seems very keen and very switched on👌 Hope all is well and the family are doing good
Great video. So much energy! At 7:40, were you safe with the extra stand to reach the gable? The height of the scaffolding was now quite low. Glad you are safe.
Cheers mate, tried to keep is somewhat similar to the existing house. But your probably right. Dry verge is gonna hide 80% of the details anyway, which is a shame really Hope your well
Brilliant work buddy, and congrats on finishing that gable! Sorry I didn't comment on the last video, I've been revising for some exams. (Not C&G exams, I've passed all those!) Keep up the brilliant work as always, looking forward to the next one mate! 👍😁👌👷♂️🧱🧱🍻🍻
great work as always!!! loving the content!!! stating the obv, but why don't you get a brick elevator would be easier to transport the bricks thank you for the content
Lovely brickwork again. Will say corbel would look better if you put headers on the end ( less than ¼ bonded) also how did the roofer get over the last course of your corbel as I bet its more than 50mm above the rafter end so above facia board? Other than that awesome 👍
Nice tips i do miss bricklaying i am a bricklaying by trade you make me want to go back but my back elbows and shoulders would have something to say about it issac . Great job bricklaying just love it but as you get older it crippled me mate . Good luck brilliant enjoyed that . Justin 👍 🧱🧱🧱🤣
I've seen your brickwork mate though your videos and it's bang on mate! That radius wall you built was awesome! When we meet in July we'll have to get a few down together for a laugh 😊 Guess I've got that to look forward to😂 Thanks for your support Justin! Hope you lads are all well! See you in...4 weeks now!
Lol me too, if only the prices of brickwork and blockwork which they are today, I wonder if we would have had to work so hard as to have batterd our bodies so badly. I used to kill myself every day on site. 51 now and feel messed up.
As we get older its the lack of (MSM) organic sulfur, vitamin C and hydrolyzed collagen that causes the problems. Those minerals repair any damage...like cement...but we run out so the mix gets too soft.
Yes you are right there mate, however depending on the angle, reflects how much. In this case it worked out perfectly and can work OKish to about 35-55°
There must be a LARGE air space gap in-between the face of the insulation and the OUTER wall inside the cavity ; this includes an air space gap in between the face of the insulation and the cavity-wall-tie drip points(which are in the centre of the cavity). Ask N.V.Q. City & Guilds BRICKWORK teachers for PROOF of this !
Hi mate im joe im 28 and I have autism and I'm going to start going to college to be a bricky there's good money in bricklaying and its a good trade to get in to and it's something I've always wanted to be mate and your bricklaying skills are sick bro also is it hard to do it buddy👌 👏
Cheers mate, sorry only just getting round to all the comments. Best of luck to you buddy! Persistence is key! Keep at it and keep practicing! You'll get there, if you want to💪💪 if you ever need any help, drop me a message and Instagram and I'll help you if I can!
I thought Drew was joining the Marines? You’d think that would motivate him to work hard for his fitness. Is he overdoing training in preparation for the Marines so too tired to work on site?
That corbel is absolutely fucking horrific. Why didn’t you just cut the headers out and bond it in? I’ve watched a lot of your videos and your work is usually at a good standard but those corbels have really let you down
Hiya mate, I'd have to disagree with you. Next next door had bonded in corbels and I thought they looked horrific. I guess it comes to personal preference. The customer who is VERY VERY particular much preferred the way I did them rather than next door or what were originally on their house. Cheers Robert bud, hope your well
@@stuartjones1982 thanks for pointing that out for me 🤷🏻♂️ if you post videos of your work online then you have to expect positive and negative comments
Know you don't give 2 sh@'s about an old timey Texas Bricky of the mid 70's Izzy. But here goes... Fresh out of the U.S. Paratroopers; my desires were to work the summers learning to become a Texas brick a layer & a stone a mason during the summer months & earn a degree towards becoming a high paid Psychiatrist during the winter seasons. First day on a residential job as a helper I learned to make the formula of the mortar. That night it had rained so the formula was offset to the point of almost running off the mud boards of the foreman & his bricky. He then whispered to me - ''Hey Rock: think you could move that 55 gal. water barrel a little farther from the mixer for that next batch of the day?'' @ which I replied ''No sweat boss.'' And upon my return for the 2nd wheel barrow load: I took the time to steering wheel that now nearly full 400 lb. drum of water 2 rounds away from the mixer. Whereupon both he, the other mason, & both their helpers stood fast in awe as I shouted out to the foreman... ''How's That Boss?'' I'll never forget to this day the first time I saw his trowel bury 2''' deep into his scaffold floor board: as he then leaped from it & proclaimed for all to hear... ''Dammitt All Son! Your gonna make a bricklayer. You got a strong back & a weak mind!'' From that point on, he saw to it to get me up on his walk board to spread his mud before him & to hand him his brick: each time we hit the long money walls from the front garage, to the kitchen, to the back yard of the homes. I'll shut up now with the gestalt of my thesis of it all... ''There's no construction material touched & adjusted more, on any building than that of the lowly brick or stone. None!'' ~Just another one of those many one's of ''We The People'' Who's awaiting His Just⚖Return🪃- as The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. ~Psalm 118:22
still enjoying all the work however it's becoming more difficult to watch you both as the swinging from side to side would make one seasickness please slow that phone down!!!
Man you weep vents look ugly that way around! Turn it 180 and flip it upside-down. Read the side of the actual weep vent it has instructions on it. You can use them both ways around and the other way around is much cleaner look than what you did. I know because I made the same mistake and had to cut them out
Amazing job by the way! You smashed out in a day what takes me a week. Im not a bricky tho. The way around you did the vents are at an angle, I put them the wrong way pointing up so the rain would go in and the water in cavity wouldn't go out! But if you us the other side as your front then it has mm markers on the spout. Ones marked for brick and render etc so you know how far to have the spout poking out. Hey I have a massive problem ATM. I just rebuilt my gable end was bowed and cracked major. Had to pull fascia backing board forward 45mm at top peak and put noggins in order to be able to build up level! I'm redoing the fascia now and just realised my soffit on the left side is 1 brick higher than the right side! So my box ends will look odd 1 bigger than the other! I always wanted corbels but I only have scaffold up the gable end. Can you cut out and tooth in a corbel with just scaffold on the end? And how much should I pay a brickie to do that? Roughly? Grand job you thought me lots aswell.

P.s. just encase you didn't know the regs are for the dpc to overhang past the lintle each side by 150mm minimum and curled to the next nearest brick. You probably know that though. Lol to job
If the corbels everywhere are flush? Why on earth would you change on a extension which is supposed to be an extension of what’s already been done? Poor.
Good point, but I personally think the corbels which stick out 15mm look much better than the flush ones. The customer preferred what I did. Which is a win win
