Well done guys very tidy job indeed ! Your mum and dad must be very proud of you Izzy. And always nice to see Drew on the scene as well . Now get cracking on with the next job and get the videos up. 🤣🤣🤣
Cheers Jim! Glad you enjoyed the videos and Drew's always buzzin to be grafting and getting food 💪 Currently working on digging footings and smashing houses down 😭
Just a quick note regarding the block work finish level on any gable the block work should be 20 - 25mm below the level of the top of the truss this allows for shrinkage in the timber trusses, in other words if these the trusses have got wet during the build due to rain then once roof coverings go on they will shrink down and the blockwork will always be below the level of the truss.
Nice to see the topping out Izzy. Nice touch mentioning all the things your parents have done for you. I doff my cap to you. Nice job mate and nice to see a young un having pride in his work. Keep up the good work and the vids.
What a ‘feel good’ video to enjoy. Izzy your happy attitude really comes across well. Those bacon and egg rolls look amazing and made me want one! Your parents must be so proud of you and your abilities. I saw the insulation going in but not any wall ties (not always easy to see on my phone) so I’m wondering if they aren’t needed? But why? Please do plenty of recording on the knock through and even more on the garage. From other comments I think there are lots of us looking to build our own garages/man caves soon! 🍺
Thanks very much mate! Yea I also got that feeling when putting the video together 🤜🤛 they are very pleased and proud ☺️ will make sure to film the other bits and bobs on this job then mate 💪
There must be a LARGE air space gap in-between the face of the insulation and the OUTER WALL inside the cavity ; this includes an air space gap in-between the face of the insulation and the cavity-wall-tie drip point-which is in the centre of the cavity, pointing downwards. Ask N.V.Q. City & Guilds BRICKWORK teachers for proof of this ! With the cavity-wall being abridged with insulation (insulation touching the outer walls) , moisture will transmit from the damp outer wall through the abridging insulation into the inner wall !
Fantastic job! Your parents brought you up well young man! You’re a credit to them and they must be delighted with their extension. May be a silly question but I didn’t see any wall ties?
Thanks so much mate, they are really pleased ☺️ no a few people asked that, they are there I can assure you mate 💪 just hard to see, but I'd you pause the video you can spot them Hope your well! Starting filming again next week💪

Hi there! I learnt on the job. I was taught by an old school Bricklayer. All the basics I got from him...and most of it I taught myself. Never been to college

3:12 BIG MISTAKE, You are cutting off the extra mixture from this side, but WHO is going to cut off the extra mixture the OTHER side of the wall. You are doing HALF JOB here
