Penny wants a wedding dress that is under £400, will she find a gown that fits her style as well as her budget? Catch Say Yes to the Dress on TLC - Sky 133, Virgin 162, BT TV 323
You don't know any of them. Everyone has their first impression of people, of course. But do you need to share it? Poor girl, being judged officially on no ground what so ever. I must say, your comment is both disturbing and depressing.
The fact the seller was kind enough to lower it to 400$ is amazing, But the bride just had no respect. Asking to drop it to half of the heavily discounted price? That's just using her! It's like the seller is doing it for charity.
She asked politely if the seller was willing to lower it and didn't push forward when she initially said no. I don't see how that would be disrespectful. And what do you mean 'using her'? The seller could've just said no. I get it, it's amazing to get a £2000 dress even for £800 but when you have a certain budget, you shouldn't go much above it just because the seller is nice.
I wouldn't say the bride was disrespectful. She had a budget she had to stick to and Katherine was very kind and sold it to her because she wanted someone else to have it. She could have just as easily sold it for $1000 online or somewhere else but she wanted it to go to someone who deserved it. :)
Thank God someone said that. I would have bargained if the dress wasn't worth the high price but it almost fit perfectly and its a really expensive looking dress
I thought that is what she was going to say. But it started with her saying it's not about the money. They wanted to pass it on to someone they liked, and were okay with giving it as a gift for a small price to make sure the person valued it, I think she decided the bride having real priorities about other stuff didn't mean she didn't want oe appreciate it and what was important was that it was good feelings. If I could guess...lol.
Negotiating I'm ok with, the way the bride went about it, I am not ok with. The bride asked to drop it down to $400, then when the seller finally comes around she wants $250. Her attitude was shit, making excuses about alterations doesn't matter as on average, it would cost $50-$75 for the adjustment she needed in the bust. There's a level of respect when negotiating and she completely and utterly ignored it.
I agree that it was too much to ask the seller to lower the price more. I can tell you that $59-$75 for an alteration would never happen. Friends were quoted $175 to take 2 inches off the bottom of a dress. No lace or anything to deal with. An bust adjustment is very involved and costly. I am an professional seamstress/tailor.
@@PJ-il3nh I was going of the prices around where I live, which happens to be very far away from these people. Therefore I understand the price is not the same. 😊
@@PJ-il3nh While I agree that bust alterations are tough and costly, anyone who asks $175 to take 2 inches off the bottom of a wedding dress with a non-fancy hem should be charged with attempted (financial) rape & extortion. Vendors think they can get away with murder when a wedding or funeral is involved. Unfortunately, they're often right.
Agreed. The seller is too kind. I don't think I would have the nerve to offer any less than $400.00. I actually bought my dress second hand through ebay, ut was posted at $400.00 or best offer. I had set a budget/goal of spending around $200.00. I messaged the seller the my budget, fully expecting a no; but see agreed! The dress was definitely worth more than $400.00 but when I was doing alterations I was able to to 98% of the beading was custom done by a professional. I hadn't heard of the brand and still haven't been able to find what the non customized dress looked like before.
This isn't a store. A person is selling something that's meaningful to them. Haggling is ok but be respectful. Choose something else if the budget doesn't work for you. And why did she say 400 first and then say it's too high. She's lying.
@@kelliemarieross sorry i think she knows very well that an individual reseller doesn't have & won't take that into account. It hasn't worked like that on the show, the price is just the price of the dress. She just got greedy and was shameless about it.
A tattoo that big costs 300-400 anywhere 💀 also instead of coloring her hair she could have used that money for the dress. She should've made better choices, and not made someone else pay for her misuse of wedding money
Exactly. Well she needed money for travels with her husband to be (it was said in this video clip). Not to mention 1st Katherine said she's willing to sell it for 500£ when buyer/bride said she can pay 400£. When Katherine said in video call 400£, bride wanted to pay max 250£. I understand for Katherine it wasn't abt money but I wouldn't give this dress even for free to this bride simply because she's a 100% egoistic user.
@@MJ-xk2nk how though ? She has her priorities and was respectful of the other woman. She knew it was a long shot, and was prepared to go for something else within her budget . I dont see how this is egotistical
I simply love Catherine who lowered the price of the dress for the bride, she is a really kind hearted person. Thanks Catherine for bringing a smile on the bride's face.
Really? If you don't have enough for the already cheap 400, pick a different dress. If you don't have enough money for the wedding you want, maybe wait and save.
I did move my wedding date because I feel inlove with a wedding dress I cant afford in order just to save a money for that particular dress. falling inlove with a dress is a different feeling tho I cant blame her and its wedding.
Ella Alpha At least she got her a lot less expensive, she can't go to somewhere else because, that was her dream dream dress, you could only find a dress for 1 to 3 hundred dollars on eBay , and let me tell you, they are so low quality and they will rip so easily.
Purplekitty what part of the planet do you live on. Where I’m from it’s very rare to find a wedding dress store that is cheap and good quality. And like that person told you, this is the women’s dream dress so it is highly unlikely that she would get it from another place. Idk. Does she live where you live, is that why you are saying that she can get cheaper dress with good quality. If that’s the case then I apologise and will back off.
Catherine was too nice. Like she only want 800 when it was 2000. Then lowers to 500? Dang, she is a calm lady. The bride needs to realize how much Catherine is helping her.
That felt disrespectful to the owner of the dress who was being completely reasonable. Another selfish bride. She lowered it at a great price. There was no reason to go lower than that.
I'd have the dress made into banquet-class table linens or a luxurious Christmas tree skirt before giving it to a tattooed tightwad. The top could be turned into a fancy evening blouse.
The haggling was tasteless. Not that I mind haggling in general, but this was pushing it too low. The owner should have kept it and sold it to someone else. There are plenty of online platforms for preloved wedding dresses.
right off Penny is very arrogant to the seller, I'm not against her only having 400 dollars for a Dress But she's wanting champagne and caviar on a malt liquor budget. she's has a nasty attitude.
@Rahr She asked for 400 and then slashed that and went even lower. That's just in very poor taste and a bit rude, she knew it was out of her price she should've just said no to it an moved on.
This kind of pisses me off. It’s unfair to rip other people off. She gave a price and there’s nothing wrong with negotiating, but this is just a scam. If this was a store that marked it down that much, that would be fine but you’re buying from an individual who has worn it and considers it special. I’m sorry to sound harsh, but find a dress that is within your budget, you have plenty of options. It may not be the one you want, but it’s the one you can afford. I hate when people feel entitled so much to expect strangers to do for them what they may not do for others.
She was rude to even ask, she knew the price of the dress and originally she said her budget was £400 then to come out ask for £250 was wrong. Katherine should have stuck to her guns and sold it on eBay for a price she was happy with.
I'm glad the bride got her dress but I don't agree with how she got it. She realized the seller was a good person and took advantage of that. It's a 2000 pound dress, that the seller offered quite reasonably for 800 pound. Then to help her the seller reduced it by 75% and said her lowest offer was 500 pound. The bride then says can you consider 400. And the seller said no. That should have been it. The bride then calls back, not to ask to reconsider the 400 pound that she initially said she'd buy it for but to ask her to sell the dress for half of the seller's lowest offer. That's just unacceptable. Katherine and her husband have amazing hearts, I just hope the buyer pays it forward and gives the dress away to someone deserving. I would hate it if after so generously getting the dress for 87.5% of what it's worth she turns around and sells it for a better value after her big day. It's ok to want the best for yourself but not at the expense of others. Either wait till you can afford what you want, compensate on something less important than the dress, or accept that you'll have to make sacrifices and pick something more reasonable. The I want what I want on one condition attitude just turned me off.
I don't know any of them but if I was Katherine I would have never give my wedding dress a second chance on that price. I would rather keep it to myself or wait someone else to take. Katherine has a big heart no doubt and one more thing! I didn't like her attitude who bought the dress. Why would you choose such dress which is not even in your budget!?
Oh my god. Why is nobody talking about how damn beautiful the style of the sellers wedding was? The bridesmaids dresses, her dress EVERYTHING. It's the prettiest one I have seen on this show yet.
I KNOW!!! I keep wondering what these girls’ tattoos will look like when their 70 years old. I know it’s ‘fashionable’ now to have tattoos but just because it’s the current fashion doesn’t mean that it’s a good idea. I think any young woman should ever disfigure her beautiful skin with one of those monstrosities is nuts!!
@@bonnielong5812 tattoos are not for looks. They're an extension of a person. Technically you disfigure yourself by wearing makeup or earrings or many other things that have permanent effects.
Well i know not everbody have much money, but at first she said she could spend about 400 pound. Alex dress the best price she said ? Its 645 pound &she just give 2nd price for 300 pound? So why not choose alex dress? Chaterine already offer the dress for her budget 400pound but suddenly she said 250pound? Because you hve high test and still wanting chaterine dress just for 250 pound? Chaterine is sooooo nice. . she willing to sell beautifull 2000pound elegent wed dress for 300 pound? Omg🙄🙄🙄 sorry girl . I know not everyone can have beautiful dress with that budget . And you really need to thank to chaterine a lot
Gracious generosity AND gracious appreciation! A gentle lesson in understanding and one that all people should take home in their hearts! The beautiful dresses are,, in the end, fabric, time, creativity, memories and love. As love cannot be bought or sold, the rest has served its purpose! A beautiful ending to this beautiful story!
We only catch a glimpse of the overall situation here. For everyone saying she’s cheap, consider the possibility that maybe she and her fiancé don’t have a ton of money to spend on their wedding.
it's not about how much she could afford, her attitude sucked toward the buyer. the buyer did not owe her anything. she is VERY lucky she gave her that beautiful dress for that low price.
*Holt tree house!!! She said tree house and I certainly underestimated what that tree house would look like lol!! That tree house is amazing!! Perfect wedding venue!!!*
Even a penniless person would also not go down that cheap as that bride. It's ridiculous !! She was crazy about that dress to be her's and yet she was selfish to the extreme. On the other hand, Catherine went way out of her pride ridiculously to give what the bride wanted. I have a big heart too but that's insane.
IMO, you should subtract the cost of alterations from the original budget. So, if the bride's original budget was 400 pounds, she should have told Olivia that her budget was 300 pounds (assuming that alterations would cost no more than 100 pounds-- I actually have no idea how much they would be). Very generous seller, but wow, what a tactless bride.
Dare I say I was kind of disgusted by the buyer. How do you come in with a popular dress designers name, but can’t even afford it. And this woman paid 2000 and offered up to you at 800, then 500... and you turn around and insult her by asking for 250 🤦🏾♀️ Oh baby I would have boxed my dress right back up and went home.
From the minute they saw the dress, it was no, no, no to everything. Doll, if you don't have a good poker face, don't go on a show like this. And... Be respectful to the seller.
Wait a minute, the seller paid $2,000 for the wedding dress and that expensive dress was sold for $300!!!! Then the NERVE of the bride to call the seller and say hey I give you $250 for the dress. You know what this bride is going to do after her wedding is over? This bride will sell that dress for $2,000 and say she paid close to $600 for the dress. This bride wasn't penny pinching with the LARGE tattoo on her back!!! Why didn't this bride find a place that rents wedding dresses???
that seller was so kind and generous I felt bad for her that the buyer took the piss by insulting her with 250 at 500 that was a bargain, the buyer had zero respect, if she wanted a cheap dress she should have gone to Oxfam. the buyer was like an arrogant beggar, disgusting behaviour
That entire situation would have broken my heart....maybe they should have a contract written for the dress. When her wedding is completed, the dress goes back to the original owner for the price she bought it for so it can then be sold for a legitimate price. This way the new bride CANNOT make any money off of a dress; no intentions of cheating or deceptions!
....She basically robbed that lady lol. Your budget is $400 supposedly. The seller isn't responsible for you needing alterations...her asking for $250 was just icky. Outrageous tbh. She got very lucky. I would've rented her the dress for $300 lmao.
The "Bride to Be" seems Stingy. She wants to pay $250 pounds for a $2,000 pound Wedding Dress! The Seller was Extremely Generous, and this "Buyer" is not a Fair Bargainer--She's outright "Cheap."
Why don’t they discuss budget before showing the bride the dresses?... If her budget was only a set 400$ (with alterations), then they should have only shown dresses maybe max 450$ asking price so they can haggle it down. Felt bad for the seller, she was too kind hearted to say no. If she waited a bit longer, she would have sold that dress no problem closer to her asking price... 😢. This is like low balling sentimental items!! 😤😤
I think she should have gone for Alex's dress, that showed off her tattoo so well, instead of busting Katherine's chops to get the other dress down from 800 to 300. (Or paid 500: another couple of hundred quid wouldn't make that much difference to a honeymoon.) In Katherine's shoes, I would have offered to RENT the dress for 300, so I could sell it again to someone else afterwards. But that's me.
The seller said from the begining it wasn't about the price she wanted someone who would love it as much as she did. But the buyer could also have talked to her instead of constantly trying to blame needing alterations for her need in price reduction.
She said her budget was £400 but then says its too much and to lower it down? Look for something that's in your budget then. The seller and her husband are good people with good heart. I would never have sold it for £2000 to someone who said their budget was 400 then said its too high that's taking the absolute mick
This episode left me with a bad impression with how low the haggling went. I would NOT have sold the dress for less than $500. Sorry. If you can’t afford it, then choose the cheaper dress.
When haggling you're suppose to start low then go higher? The seller usually starts higher and then go lower. Not the haggler starting low and then going low again....
That dress is stunning and not everyone has the sort of budget to buy new. In reality you are purchasing a dress that probably has only been worn for hours. I'm pleased she got it for £300 - as she really did shine! Loved her back piece too
She doesn’t deserve that dress. It has memories and she already lowered the price down to £400 for her and is just using the seller. That is rly cheap for a £2000 dress.Bless the seller. She should have gotten £5000 with that heart. She should have kept it for herself.
