And if husband decides to move for his wife, then it is a huge sacrifice and everyone just praises him like anything.. as you rightly said , for women it is taken for granted. As a black South African woman I can relate. It's almost taken for granted that a woman will upend her life for her husband. In our cultures the bride almost always leaves her family to be with her husband and his family. In my opinion the bride experiences the bigger upheaval between the two people getting married. P. Absolutely. I have a friend who was about 15 pounds overweight in high school. Her mom really shattered her self confidence about her weight and nagged her about it all the time. She became reluctant to exercise because she felt judged and like she couldn’t keep up. She also has asthma which makes it more difficult. At a certain point she gave up, ate what she wanted, and gained 100 pounds but eventually she decided to embrace herself and just love who she was. One day years after high school we were randomly talking and she kept calling me skinny so I told her how much I weighed and she was shocked that I actually weighed 10 lbs more than she did in high school. The only difference between us was how we carry the weight. I’m a mesomorphic body type. She’s an endomorphic body type. And frankly she never looked big to me when we were in high school anyway. I’ve talked to her over the years about my own insecurities and despite the 90 lb weight difference they were so similar they to hers. I also have my fitness nut mother’s voice in my head. I also cover up my stomach. I’m not a huge fan of my arms. My thighs rub together. I exercise alone because I don’t feel I can keep up when I’m in a group. I actually have to watch what I eat and exercise more than her because my body can’t handle a lot of fat or sugar and all of my female relatives weigh less than me. She met a great guy and while we don’t discuss her weight I’ve noticed she’s slimmed down in the face. I would guess she’s lost about 10 lbs since she started loving herself, and I had my own cathartic moment last year and decided to love myself too. Now if we eat healthy it’s to be healthy, not to look a certain way. And we both dress in clothes that fit us, instead of aspiring to have bodies that fit clothes that don’t look good on us.

This is incredibly accurate. As a plus size bride, I can’t tell you how nice it is to find a plus size dress - not a size 2 stretched to fit me.

To be fair, this is consistently the message that woman are sent from birth. If you’re not thin, you need to constantly be attempting to lose weight-you’ll never be beautiful, loved, valued, etc if you’re fat. Eventually, most of us realize that isn’t true, but it takes a while 😉

My guy, Chris, is 6'3" and round the middle, he's a sort of large fellow, only because he's on insulin. He became diabetic due to a doctor's screwup with medicine dosage and it killed his pancreas. And it's the insulin that made him gain more weight than he would have liked. So he spent a year on a dating site with no messages whatsoever. He was on the verge of giving up finding anyone else, just because a year of not finding anyone, especially after he and his last gf broke up, kinda sent a message of "You're too big, and we girls don't want guys who are big." Then he and I managed to meet. I'm not exactly svelte myself. I was also on the verge of giving up. But something told me to take another chance, and apparently he was told the same thing. He is the best thing that's ever happened to me. I can honestly say I've met my soul mate. 😍

I dont know a single woman...big of thin that doesnt have a level of insecurity about themselves. I feel like modern, cheaply, mass market clothing has made it hard for anyone to find or feel beautiful in clothing. There was a reason people made their own clothing back in the day...outside of cost savings..and that was that clothing made specifically for a person fits and flatters better.

A trainee nurse in 1968 I was just 5 miles away from my family but with medical books to buy stockings no tights then and they laddered readily and that was not allowed , And outdoor uniform had to be paid for and nurses black shoes with at least five lace holes . With earnings of just ten pounds a month there was no way I could pay my bus fare to go home on my day off .No way i could afford to go into the town 3 miles away I could walk but did not have a penny to spend , We lived in and had bland hospital food , which was devoured by us hungry nurses because we worked so very hard Forty eight hours a week then and in 1969 the Hong Kong flue epidemic hit the UK and there was 4 weeks when we worked up to 84 hours a week just to help out as nurses were going off sick with the flue nurses were nurses back then and we did it for love of the job . So yes five miles not much but to far to walk there and back in one day because your day off was reading medical books studying . Amazing days amazing girls and an amazing time in history where people really cared for each other

Not every country is as big as the US. Also, I wonder if it's something to be proud about that even the next town could be that far away? I am proud to be Dutch and actually happy that I can get to the other side of my country in 2 hours. England is bigger of course. Some shop keepers says to me " this wont fit you, its xl size try xxl." Whereas i can fit in xl. So basically their perspective doesn't matter as long as you like it and it fits you. Moreover i also felt the veil she brought is unique, they should have went some wedding shop where they had colorful embellishments worked on white gown because these people usually don't have those and they try to put you into mood for you to like something they show.

@@guaponeela I don't think you should put your value on your size. I'm XL 36DD. I lost a few pounds and in some label's, I was L others XL. But if they're trying to put you in XXL there's a good reason for it. Just try to get the seam to stop and the shoulder, not down the arm. Maybe take the XXL in a little. It's not expensive. Shoulders can't really be fixed, but a dart in pants or a shirt is nothing. And it'll look better. You don't want to walk around in clothing that's too small because that definitely doesn't look good. I see women every day hanging out and with double boobs from a too small bra. Not good :)

I use to have hair that came to my mid back, then I got it cut into a pixie and it forced me to stop trying to hide behind it or use it as a shield. 3 years later, I'm slowly growing my hair out, its shoulder length now, but I have no clue how to style it so I usually put it in a slick bun/ponytail or braid.
