The first bride's entourage was very well behaved considering the size of it. The second bride looked stunning in her simplicity. Especially with her hair up and the veil during the ceremony.

His wife was awesome. I remember God told Moses to do something, forgot what, maybe circumcise their son? and he didn’t want to do it. His wife wanted to obey God more than obey her husband so she did what God wanted. Think she performed the surgery. Don’t think Moses was mad about it. I hope he was grateful she had the will and strength to do what was commanded. I’m not fond of circumcision, but God said so, so ya gotta do it.

I had a huge smile watching this! I’M SO HAPPY ITS NOW A BIG FAT ETHIOPIAN WEDDING! When I was a teenager, in the the mid 80’s this country was being destroyed my war and famine. A huge concert called Live Aid and dozens of other concerts performed around the world. Totaling 40% of the world watched, too help raise money to help this once struggling country!

Although I personally agree with you, this family doesn't. Lots of people - including immigrants - love that maintaining the culture is very important. And religious experience is part of it. And she could have worn anything when wanted to in other ceremonies, but not church. Respect of the church and of its rules bonds generations together. Don't knock it just because it isn't your style.

Yeah, I didn't care for the mix of fabric. The lace seemed heavy like crochet. To pair it with such a light airy fabric like tulle seems an odd choice. And the crochet part didn't have much shape to it. That and the high neckline doesn't give the dress much interest, IMO. And i usually love Lazaro. Go figure.

It is not just an Ethiopian thing. My cousin and brother had a 2 day wedding. It just depends on what you want.

Some cultures have a 3-5 day wedding. This includes multiple dresses, multiple ceremonies to honor the families, religious and/ or traditions, to get legally married, for a community celebration. It's a pretty big deal. Having a small wedding or a private ceremony isn't an option
