Bride #1- I hope there is more to her and her relationship than the superficial materialism that she demonstrated. That won't get a couple through rough times. Dress #2, I think I'd replace the black tulle train with a shade of brown so it would coordinate with the other tones in the dress. It's beautiful though.

Yes it may not be endearing to wait to marry your partner until he can afford a blingy ring (which was ugly, imho) but after all they have had a successful relationship for 15 years, so clearly he was down with it. She misused the word "demand;" it's usually stated that a person COMMANDS a presence...although as much vanity as she displayed could have meant that she does DEMAND it, believing that she's "owed" such deference (she'd never get it from me. I'm rarely impressed by anyone, but that's just me being an elderly woman who simply doesn't care what anyone else believes his/her personal status is).
