I can't believe Elizabeth's mother and sister won't be at her wedding after all. How abusive is that husband to forbid them from going?! Absurd, mom needs to get out of there asap.

There's love for your husband and a mother's love. There is no way in the world my husband would stop me going to my daughters wedding. Seeing her mum cry is heartbreaking 💔. Both brides look beautiful.

Awful how a family can't set aside their differences for an important day such as a wedding. I hope things are working out for this couple. Dayna on the other hand is pure goddess in the dress you chose.

Does anyone else feel that Elizabeth's mother is trapped in a toxic - possibly abusive! - relationship? As a mother myself, there's no way that ANYONE could keep me from my child's wedding. I just want to pull Elizabeth's mom aside and say, "sister, do you need help getting out?"

Elizabeth, you are inspiring. You broke the cycle of being controlled and embarked on a life of YOUR choosing and making. All while still maintaining contact with your mother and sister. Not many people have your strength, compassion and skill at setting boundaries. You, girl, are fierce! You have done a great service to your sister, to see how it is done. Oh my gosh I remember that episode with the bride who now came for a fitting. I was so hoping the mom got to be at the wedding. She will regret this forever. I hope she ever finds the strength to leave her husband. I know how difficult it is to leave an abusive relationship, but it can be done.

Dayna’s family acted exactly how I would want families to react. They saw what the bride loved and also knew who she was and what might fit her more

I was so touched by the second bride's story, and am glad that the mother and sister were able to share the precious experience of finding her dress together. The first bride looked lovely in the gown that she chose. She may be inspired by Beyonce, but she needs to shine as herself.

Elizabeth's father should be ashamed of himself, no right to dictate, what surprised me was that he wanted his daughter to stay with her lying, cheating ex husband and expect her to put up with it! I feel sorry for her mother as she is clearly not confident enough to go to Elizabeth's wedding without having her husband's approval. Moral of this story, bullying comes in all shapes and sizes.

For all the people judging the mom for not supporting her daughter, think for a second that she has another daughter to protect as well. If she has spent decades with that man (based on her older daughter's age) she may be without financial resources of her own, a skillset outside the home, & isolated from a support system. Her decision could easily be based on keeping a peace for her minor child (which big sister would understand). This girl could have a medical condition that is dependent on the father's insurance. She could have special educational needs that he pays for. I work with young people 13 -25 and sometimes the mothers (parents + caretakers of all kinds) have several unpleasant options and get to pick the one that is the least horrible.

I love Lori's words that every person is fabulous the way they are. Allow the dress show your personality. Don't compare yourself with anyone or try to be someone, just be yourself.

Of course Elizabeth’s dad doesn’t want her mom to go to the wedding. God forbid she gets any ideas about following her daughter’s example, and musters up the strength to leave her abusive husband for a better man. Ladies, do everything you can to leave an abusive partner - they won’t change, no matter how much love or loyalty you pour into them. Pour it into yourself instead.

What a shame for the bride whose mother couldn't be there. I don't know the full story, but it sounds like the father is a piece of work. The bride seems strong and gracious in a bad situation. Edit: I got nosy and looked up the bride, and she seems to be still happily married 8 years on. :)

If memory serves, the second bride Elizabeth's ex husband cheated on her, but her dad was opposed to the divorce for religious reasons. He is refusing to let his wife go to his daughter's second wedding now. Awful, and heartbreaking.

That mother is a horrible mother. I'm a very traditional Southern Girl and putting your husband ahead of people as head of the house is one thing, but it's your child. It is your child! I am not one to rant and rave about this "misogyny" culture but in this case, yeah.. she's a horrible mother and he's a horrible father and that man is obviously abusive. Bustier than a B cup requires a pattern change? That’s a LOT of people :/ not to say A and B aren’t normal, but so are C’s, D’s, etc. I haven’t been a b cup since early high school, and to be made to feel like my chest would be abnormally large for a wedding gown even though I wear a size 6-8 seems silly.

I agree, and why do these brides insist on destination weddings that deprive their parents of the pleasure of being there. The couple have the rest of their lives to be away and alone with each other!
