I was in a similar boat as Anita and completely understand. I had a friend from the time we were toddlers. She was my maid of honor and when she got married I was not even in her wedding party. It was very hurtful but all in all it was one more sign that she doesn't really value me as much as I did her and I always would be making room in my life for her and she would always push me aside. I concluded last year I've had enough of that I will no longer be bending over backwards for her.

I feel so bad for Anita. They bashed her and it was horrible. She had every right to be as upset as she was, Ashley was so rude for telling her to get over it. I’m so sad for how she was treated.

If this is how Kymberly always is, I hope Anita realizes the kind of friend Kymberly has become and leaves her. Anita deserves a true friend that will stand by her side & not let somebody trash talk her!!!

Honestly, I'm surprised Anita didn't slap Ashley. Ashley was being rude and accusing Anita of making it about her when she was just trying to look through dresses and calm down. Ashley in this edited clip made several snide comments beforehand that no doubt added to the hurt. And then when she's crying in the toilet Ashley just comes in and tells her to get over it and basically taunts her in assuming it's just because she didn't get picked as the maid of honour. And when they tried on sample dresses Ashley ironically made it about HERSELF by constantly sniping at Anita and going after her for feeling hurt.

OMG... Anita is a freakin angel for having stayed. That bride and maid-of-honor was horrible to her. I would've never stayed.

Kim was wrong for choosing the maid of honor DURING the appt and not PRIOR TO. Anita's feelings were valid but Kim did not empathize with her. Ashley was rude, and childish.

It says a lot about this bride's character that, firstly, she would treat her friend Anita this way; and second, that she would feel greater affinity for someone as cruel and manipulative as Ashley. Right or wrong, my intuition is that Kymberley needs people around her who will admire and flatter her. Anita might well have been the admiring one in her earlier years, but now Ashley, doing it for her own twisted reasons, is more skillful at this. I suspect that Ashley has had long practice playing Kymberley like a violin. She's no friend to anybody but herself. On the other hand, Anita.seems genuinely attached to Kymberley. Poor Anita. Either she does remain attached to a very old friend who doesn't seem to care that much about her, or else she loses her illusions about the nature of this friendship. It's lose-lose for her, while for Ashley, if it's as I perceive it, it's win-win: her aim seems to be to feel powerful over others, and I suspect she doesn't actually care as much about Kymberley as she cares about using her as a way to her own ends.

If I were Anita, I’d go home. I wouldn’t spend two cents to be in that wedding, after being treated like that. Nothing was resolved. The bride never acknowledged she literally broke her friends heart. You can tell Anita sees her as her best friend, but the bride's best friend is Ashley. Never did the bride actually say "just because you aren't my maid of honor doesn't mean I love you less." We're not always fortunate to have lifelong friends. Sometimes people grow apart, pass away etc so to be blessed with a friend since childhood that is loyal, trustworthy and that truly loves you, that would be the obvious choice for most. My heart is broken for Anita because not only did she break the news to her on national television, she told her right in front of the chosen made of honor that is always rude and competitive with her. Granted, it is up to the bride to choose whomever she feels would be better suited as her maid of honor but in my opinion, just wasn't the time or place and Anita's feelings were hurt yet she had to deal with Ashley telling her to get over it, as she's crying.

If I were Anita I would drop those “friends”. I really felt her pain when she said “I’m always second to you” because I’ve been there and dropped people because of it. I hope she is doing well 💗

I feel that the bride SHOULD NOT have a maid of honor. She knew that there is this much tension between her bridesmaids, and by choosing the maid of honor during bridesmaids dress shopping, she added fuel ⛽ to the fire 🔥.

I feel for Anita, same thing happened to me. Bride told me she didn't want a MOH or if she did that she'd want me to be her MOH.... I found out at the brachelorette party that she chose her fiances' brothers ex wife who she's known for 2.5 years to be MOH.... it does hurt more than one thinks and can't see the friendship lasting 💔

But, while we all know that Anita should reevaluate that so-called "friendship", I would encourage Tommie to do so as well. 1) if Kymberly and Ashley are willing to bully Anita that way then they would be willing to do so to Tommie as well, and 2) When Anita finally decides to dump those to buttholes, guess who will be on the receiving end of their toxicity in Anita's place? A really good friend would not wait until they got on national TV to tell a friend that she knew thought she was going to be the maid of honor. Obviously the conversation was already had with the other friend that she was and the other wasn't. The same thing happened to me years ago. My cousin was getting married and selected other cousins as bridesmaids, all except me. Then invited me over to a family gathering without telling me I wasn’t included. Oh the hurt I felt I will never forget it.

I feel for Anita. I was the MoH for my best friends wedding and when she had her son I thought I was going to be his godmother and found out on Facebook I wasn't. I also thought I was going to be a bridesmaid in my brother and sister in laws wedding and wasn't picked. It hurt cuz I thought we were close enough for me to be in the wedding. But it wasn't my wedding so I just let it go and I helped her day of like a wedding coordinator since the venue didn't have one and she was so thankful for it to not have to worry about things.

I can understand why the childhood best friend was hurt. The bride definitely should’ve told her before the appointment. That wasn’t just hurtful, but also humiliating. More over the bride should’ve made sure to keep the maid of honor in check. If you know you have two friends that don’t really get along with each other, at least try to make sure that they’re not being mean to each other. If I ever get married, I am not having a maid of honor. There’s too much potential for hurt feelings and quite frankly, I’ve seen too many women use it to bully each other. It’s not worth it to me, sure you may not get as much help on planning the wedding. However I think the cost of not having one is much less than the cost of losing someone you really care about.
