This amazing trail is located in the Bernese Alps, high above Lake Brienz in the middle of the beautiful alpine landscape.
We have started this hike from Brienzer Rothorn, that means we have shorten our hike by taking the famous historical steam powered train up to Brienzer Rothorn.
This saves you about 4 hours. There's also another way, for those who are looking for an challenge, the complete ridge begins at Brunnig pass, it takes about 4 to 5 hours to get to the Brienzer rothorn, then another 22km to Interlaken. Surely an adventure to go for.
We did this hike in Autumn at the End of October, as you can see on the video from begining by strong wind assistance, little fresh snow, but otherwise good conditions with little sunshine, but pleasing temperatures. On the way we have met some wild Ibex colonies.

Things you need to know:
-Route it's not marked always marked, but very good visible path as the route flow on the ridge mostly
-T4+ difficulty max., hardest part is considered the east flank of Tannhorn, but very well secured with wire rope
-direct approach on Tannhorn is classified as T5+, exposed with high danger of falling rocks
-on the route there are many possible ways to go down earlier, descends are regularly placed all over the ridge
-there is NO water source on the ridge, in the hot summer months be sure that you are well covered
-camping it's not allowed!
We hope that you are gonna like our video, despite it's lenght, hope that the information contained in this video format is enough, there is plenty of stuff on YT already, but still I wanted to do it again but little bit differently as for us it means a lot, it is very beautiful hike and we have tried to express all the emotions of this tour into this video!
We love to do this kind of things, I'm glad that I can inspire people to go out there, to the nature in overall and we know that there are also people among us, they just cannot do this kind of hikes from any reason, in this case we are gladly presenting nature with it's full beauty in videos like this!
There is much to be discovered.. so be sure that you stay tunned!!

This video is extremely helpful to anyone who wants to see the exact challenge and risk you'd be taking and I'd recommend watching the entire thing to inform your preparation. Thank you so much for filming! Stopping for video and pictures on those dicey areas looked sketchy as hell. Kudos to you for completing the T5 route some of those foot holds did not look ideal let alone the loose rocks, well done.

The best video of the hike trail I have ever seen. I walked down the same path as you and this is the first footage I have seen of it.

Much appreciated! but it was under the best conditions! c'mon do this in summer? in august? suicide.. the friging insect it's gonna kill you before the thirstiness

@@patrikfusko Why is summer so bad (apart from heat)? But still i've done high speed cycling in 38°C (45°C in sun), why would this be different? From what i read, 30° is already near the limit of temperature in Swiss, so 20-22° is often e thing, and even more so: higher altitude (wich this ridge is) should remove some temps. I wouldn't go on rainy wet day for slip danger, and much worse pictures.
@jenshoefer7944
@jenshoefer7944 Год назад
@@Matti6950 the mentioned insects have been definitely a plague, even close to 3000m still plenty of them (biting), more dangerous was that a lot of normally safe trails became more dangerous due to rockfall or crumbling "climbing" routes. But you are right, when I did it the 2 years ago, it was muddy, and a slight slip may put you on the gras and then it gets fast very fast (downhill)😑
@Matti6950
@Matti6950 Год назад
@@jenshoefer7944 Hehe i will only go up with 4 days dry weather in advance. And i will use long pants i think :) After the announced rockfall in Brienz/Brinzaul i did some research but the hardergrat/Brienzergrat seem quite a sturdy mountain (see the undisturbed grass). The Suggiture and Tannhorn (cliffside) seem the most dangerous for a collapse, but not immediately. Suggiture has very steep straight upward stone cliffs, may disconnect at some point.

yeah, now it's autumn it means, that in the city is raining, on the mountains 2k+ is possible snowing, it needs some warm sunny days and then it should be dry and doable..or wait for the next summer :)

Tannhorn is by far the most dangerous (been putting at least .30 hours in research on this maintain ridge already to reach some tops next year, Augstmatthorn seems by far the safest, and has most escape routes also. I want to do a Augstmatthorn (mabye started by harder kulm) to 'Allgäuwhoren' as that top and the one before give by far the best image spots (images are a big reason why i travel, and this seems to be the best spot i found in whole Swiss).

Hardergrat is only part of the whole ridge.. In common know as brienzergrat.. Hardergrat begins from harderkulm and ends with suggiture.. Ridge continues via Augstmatthorn, Schnierenhireli etc

The difficult part you mentioned in the video , that was. The hardergrat? Thanks
