Honestly? The Imperium fracturing into a number of warring civilizations would be a fun idea to explore. The Imperium would still exist, Segmentum Solar isn't going to vanish with the snap of a finger.

I think the best way to start it off would be with the final death of the Emperor. Of course this doesn't work because without him we have no astronomicon, but I think it's possible to plan around it. Imagine, for a moment, the emperor perishes. As the throne fails and chaos is unleashed, the Emperor's last gambit is played. Every scrap of emotion and spare power collected over the years is burned by his fragmenting soul shards at once. The faith energy collected from the entire emperium over 10,000 years is used in a single moment. The Emperor's final will pushes back against the warp itself. Imprinting itself on the emerging hole in reality and banishing the daemons pushing in. As one the legion of the dammed and the other imperium half deities (Celestine etc) appear inside the new golden planet of the warp. This planet becomes the new beacon, and is protected by all the dead and collected heros and otherwise of the imperium. With his true death ending in a manner like this, a fracturing could occur without needing the setting to collapse due to lacking FTL travel. You'd get several remnant factions, several breakaway, and you could have some really fucked up books about those who are doing cult shit to try and bring him back faster (They prob don't know he's a perpetual at this point for the most part)

5:42 Far as I know, Elves are not in hurry to do anything because they live forever and since their afterlife is a physical place in the world, concepts of worldly possesions or making most of the time you have doesn’t apply to most of them. As for the Dwarves, There aren’t many of them left and those who did eventually died out because female dwarves are pretty rare(we only know one).
@kabob0077
@kabob0077 6 месяцев назад
On the Elves part Men are their siblings, literally they are, Men and Elves are the Children of Ilúvatar, the Dwarves meanwhile are adopted because they were made by Aüle behind Eru Ilúvatar's back with only a vague idea of what Men and Elves would look like. So the place of Men and Elf was always by each other side until Men inevitably die (which is their Gift) and go beyond to places even the Vala not know while the Elves return and wait in the Halls of Mandos.

5:40 Tolkien Elves are some of the least Douchebag Elves in all of Fiction. With the exception of a notable line of Elves from the First Age, they dont tend to wage war or be violent for no reason. Dwarves, They tend to like living in their Mountains, and dont care about other areas most of the time. They are also heavily outnumbers. Which is the biggest reason why they have conquered everything: They are vastly vastly outnumber by the Men of the East, who in their majority swear fealty to Sauron. Its made explicitly clear that come the time of the discovery of the Ring, Sauron has already won and only the final strike remains to be landed. He's conquered the great ancient forts that stood to contain him, and none of their like can be remade. The return of the Ring to him, is the final blow, but its indirect and direct intervention of Eur Eluvatra himself that ends up beating Sauron. Because without Frodo's pity to keep Smeagle alive, he would have fell to the ring, and not cast it into the fire. Thats also not taking into account Sauron's Tech advantage as well. So they are outnumbered, outgunned, and backed into the last little bit of land in the world not occupied by Sauron's forces.

Was that questioning of LOTR about the lack of apparent conquest of the Dwarves and the Elves for real? Assuming it might be, so... The Dwarves have digged into nearly all of the meaningful mountain ranges and other delves suitable for their particular tastes. The Elves have their race exclusive heaven across the Sea while for the most part residing in the most blissful realms across the Middle-earth. Aaand as the biggest reason the capital G God of the verse was ushering in the Age of Men so both races during the movies were near to their date of expiry on the continent.
@090giver090
@090giver090 6 месяцев назад
To be honest, LOTR as a setting consists of two and a half books (yes, the second book is three tomes long but it's still a single very big book). So it has its excuse to be a bit more "static" setting than Warhammer which counts dozens of books for cannon events alone. After all, we are not expecting to know the entire history of the Word in all its divercity by reading just the "The Three Musketeers" alone.

also it takes 20 or so years for a human to mature and have a kid often less it takes a dwarf to hit I think 90 (the reason gimli wasn't out and joining thorin was cause 75 is an irresponsible age to send a fine dwarven youth on an adventure)to be considered a man if you take casualties you cannot replenish them meanwhile the humans can easily bounce back from mass death wars in that time also humans aren't objectivley inferior in lotr there the middle road a human outrun a dwarf easily unless it's a sprint then it's a toss up and that same human is likley stronger and harder to kill than an elf the elf just has more experience and is better at dodging which again is kind of the problem the baking time is not good

An interesting idea. For me personally, so long as the imperial guard or other interesting factions that fight for humanity(or what they view as the best for humanity) exist I'd be fine. Unfortunately GW is never going to do this as they fear change like the imperium itself does.
@Jack-0-lantern
@Jack-0-lantern 6 месяцев назад
If the Imperium did fracture, than that would force the writers to strengthen the other factions in order to keep the other threats at bay. Like the Craftworld and Exodite eldar can finally unite under the Ynnari banner or previously abandoned plot lines can come back into the lime light like the one about the Severan Dominate. One thing that I hope could get more progression is the Farsight Enclaves. Now, I liked the Farsight: Arks of Omen book, but the book seemed to focus more on progressing Commander Farsight personal story more so than the Enclaves story as a whole. I mean we don't even know if they officially claimed Arthas Moloch for colonization or not, after it was cleansed of Chaos. (The ending was kind of vague on whether or not the Enclaves were going to take the planet after the conflict). Maybe with Imperium fractured, the Farsight Enclaves can have a sphere of expansion of their own. They can call it "The Red Sphere Expansion".
@norsehorse84
@norsehorse84 6 месяцев назад
That first sentence is probably the main reason the Imperium won't ever fracture, cause I'm half convinced GW hates basically every xeno faction they've created in 40k.
@RipOffProductionsLLC
@RipOffProductionsLLC 6 месяцев назад
Yeah, while a fractured Imperium is a cool/interesting idea full of potential stories, the nature of all the external threats the Imperium can barely maintain itself against means that those new successor states would stand no chance at survival.(unless they all allied together in a united front against the endless Xeno and Heretical threats, but then they're just the Imperium again, so why bother changing it?) And besides, the Imperium already has internal faction infighting, most Imperial stories have some bickering between the Administratum, Mechanicus, Inquisition, a Space Marine Chapter or two, and so on... A fractured Imperium is the Imperium that already exists.
@Jack-0-lantern
@Jack-0-lantern 6 месяцев назад
@@RipOffProductionsLLC Not necessarily. The imperium would be double edged sword for some of the Xenos factions. After some time gaining alot more strength, they would than start to bear more of the burden that used to be carried by the imperium. The Tau would have to fight the Tyranids and chaos more often if they had a larger amount of territory. Chaos as a whole and not just Slaanesh would have to start to pay alot more attention to the Ynnari if they succeeded in uniting the craftworld eldar and exodites under one banner. The bigger the xenos factions become, the more likely they'll have to deal with eash other and chaos. The burden of holding the galaxy together gets spread out a bit more.
@norsehorse84
@norsehorse84 6 месяцев назад
@@Jack-0-lantern Oof. That's how you know it will literally NEVER happen. That would involve humanity in 40k losing ground that actually matters, and xenos becoming actually strong. And note, there is no in universe reason this can't happen. It's because GW won't allow it, despite it creating far more potential conflict and interesting storytelling, cause apparently the Imperium is the only faction worth rooting for in their eyes, and xenos aren't allowed to gain anything.
@discountplaguedoctor88
@discountplaguedoctor88 6 месяцев назад
I know that it likely won't happen, but a back-to-back reaction to Pancreas's videos on the Mechanicus AND Necrons would do well in driving home the little detail that in some ways the two armies are complete opposites.

@norsehorse84 6 месяцев назад
I mean, they can come up with basically anything that they want if they want the Imperium fractured and for human civilizations in 40k to be far more varied and exciting. My guess is the Badab War didn't work not because of any in lore reason, but because, at the end of the day, having more human factions opposing each other means GW would have to come up with reasons for 40k factions to dislike each other for reasons other than "super racism", which requires nuance and is much harder to do.

Following the idea that humans might get some technology the mechanicus wouldn’t approve of, what if Trazyn started mentoring his own mini empire of humans. In return for help securing and maintaining artifacts, he teaches humanity about the glory days of the dark age of technology. The humans begin to resent the imperium and mechanicus for holding them back, whether or not that’s a fair judgement, and follow Trazyn like some kind of historian god of knowledge.

@psyc840 the issue is that 40K's bad writing tends to just be matters of degrees compared to good 40K writing; the same ideas run throughout, there are particular esthetics for each faction, and that's what the fans like about 40K to use a metaphor, it's the driver riding up the curb or into the ditch on the side of the road, at least you're on the right path and the scenery is nice. The stuff folks are targeting when they say "tourist" are folks who complain that 40K isn't to their taste and want it changed to fit them. To apply the earlier metaphor, this is a new driver insisting we get on a completely different road with a completely different destination, and being mad that you don't want to go.
