Great reaction. As you've been told, this was part of the four NEX_FEST events that BMTH arranged in Japan around the start of November. BABYMETAL had played their own set and came back out on all 4 events to perform this song live with BMTH towards the end of the BMTH set. You could see they were all having the best time and really enjoying performing together. BMTH reallt started to blow up and become more popular in Japan after BABYMETAL invited them to tour with them there late in 2019 - BMTH opened for BABYMETAL at 4 of their big arena shows.

👑 🗡 NEX_FES was a festival put on by Bring Me the Horizon. It was held in Hyogo, Japan on October 31st, in Aichi on November 1st, and in Tokyo on November 3rd & November 4th. Everyone knew that BABYMETAL would be there. They were a featured artist, and performed their set earlier that evening.

This was more like a festival Bring Me The Horizon organized in Japan rather than just a normal show. They had other massive bands playing before them like Yoasobi, Maximum the hormone, Hanabie and ofcourse Babymetal and some others I can't remember from the top of my head. So the crowd is really a mix of fans of all of those bands.

👍 👍 BMTH and Babymetal have respected each other for years. They were both performing at a metal festival way back when Yui was still in Babymetal, Olie saw the girls hanging around and thought that they might be a little uncomfortable in an almost all male environment with little understanding of English (at the time - now Suzuka is proficient and Moa is better). So BMTH kind of took them under their wing (Olie wore a Babymetal t-shirt during his performance later) and the bands have been close ever since. BMTH went on tour with Babymetal in Japan the following year and they became big over there. So the collaboration was Olie wanting to honor that relationship and it turned out to be a monumental hit.

There's a very famous (amongst fans) picture of when Ollie first approached them and they noticed he was wearing one of their shirts. It's one of my favorite photos because you see each girl's personality in it. Yui is the far more reserved/shy putting her hands over her face in surprise, Su has the surprised face while laughing in shock, and Moa is my absolute favorite pointing at the shirt with very much a "no friggin' way!!" facial reaction.

This is an edited video of the 3rd day of NEX_FEST, it was the first song of BMTH encore, BABYMETAL had already done 11 songs on stage at that time.

It's definitely more than just that one performance being shown. There are some clues during the entire video, but the biggest one is during the breakdown with Ollie's scream. You can see Su on his right side at the start as they put their hands up, then they cut away and back and she is on the left side of him still in the stance, then another cut away & back and she's back on his right side. It's definitely two performances and not them just flipping the video because the mic is in Su's left hand in both. Like everyone, I've watched this video and reactions SEVERAL times and have caught a lot of details about it!

This performance took place at Nex_Fest which was a mini festival in Japan hosted by Bring Me The Horizon. Babymetal was one of the headline acts for the event which took place in Kobe, Nagoya, and Tokyo. Babymetal had played a set earlier in the afternoon, so the crowd knew to expect them to appear for Kingslayer near the end of BMTH's set which closed out the performance.

I was at the show, NEX FEST arranged by BMTH, and considering the fact that it was easier than usual to buy Babymetal's merch, quite a lot of the crowd were fans of BMTH.

BMTH and Babymetal have had a special relationship ever since a few years ago Babymetal took BMTH on the Asia leg of their tour. Performing in those huge shows really spearheaded the rise in their popularity in the Asian market. So, BMTH has been trying to get Babymetal on one of their tracks and for one reason or another it never really worked out until this song.

Tbf, Babymetal still plays sometimes small shows in Japan, with tickets who can only be bought by the ones in the official fan club :) Wanted to add that in recent BMTH shows they always play Kingslayer, and the song is always a blast, with all the crowd singing SU's part (because that part it's usually on a backtrack) Both fanbases really love this song!

This entire collab and live video is amazing from start to finish. There are two instances where you know Moa is absolutely loving it. The main one is after the "Oh yeah" part where you see her pumping her fist in the air and looking right at the camera with the biggest smile of just pure joy I've seen on her face in awhile. The other is earlier in the song during the second set of "get the f*ck up, wake the f*ck up" when she does the dance move right at the camera. It is clearly an improvisation she wouldn't normally do unless she felt super relaxed and able to have fun with it. You also know Su is loving it when they show her bending over next to Ollie with a huge grin just before the "Oh yeah" part. I'm sure Momo also had fun, but not having the same history as the Su & Moa w/BMTH, it was probably a bit more subdued.
