Not trying to be rude, but this whole build series really shows how little knowledge these guys have with building an off-road truck. The original rendition, the coilover setup, the hydro hose routing, even their description of why they went with bigger tires. The whole build screams "more money than sense" And dear god, please clean up that wiring mess under the hood. With the budget this show has, there is no excuse for rats nests and butt connectors
Why did you leave your rear shock mounts BELOW the axle? You're just going to constantly hit them and damage them. Put them at 1/4 to 1/2 way up from the bottom of the axle to ensure you're not going to cause problems.
Those hoses hanging down like that will get ripped off if you drove that truck up here in Canada. Good idea, not so good in application. You need to redo those hose's to protect them from getting snagged on stuff when off road.
16.5” rim doesn’t have a safety bead! How do you expect to air down? Come on Power Nation. 🤦♂️ I normally never comment negatively, but this episode forms a list of do not do’s; episode one and two. This isn’t the way to show guys how to build. Research at least a little before you put a show on this platform for so many to see. Try RU-vid…. There are lots of guys doing right the first time there. Disappointed in this information.
I knew when I saw the small tires on it the first time it was going to be sketchy and then when they got out there seeing how soft the suspension was that something was going to give. They definitely did a bit better this time around. That thing sounds freaking awesome 👌
I was told by Grandpa, who was a farmer, to never pull hard in reverse. The reasons? You can't see if you are getting yourself in trouble cuz you can't see well behind you. The pinion and ring gears are putting tons of force on the coast side of the teeth, and are applying force at about 135°, instead of a flat 175°- 180° like heavy duty teeth line up. He told me, "it works fine a dozen or so times, then it doesn't, you're broke, the other rig is still stuck, and you both are walking for another rig. The whole way back, tge two of you are complaining g about what a POS the rear ends are in whatever make you abused. It couldn't be your fault. We used Scouts to pull John Deere, and old Fords tractors out, which had buried themselves to the axel.
May I first compliment you on this episode not feeling like a commercial for your sponsors. I like the stuff u did today. I would like to see you strip the interior, linex the whole thing inside and out, put in suspension seats and a killer stereo... either way this was fun to watch
Correct me if I'm wrong, but did something look funky at the very last second when the tire caught the bumper? Literally last few seconds of the video.
Nice. A snorkel installed with no air filter . Guys, I really hope you’ll add some reinforcement plates to your front shock hoops before they tear out of the frame. Also a crossover brace between the hoops is standard out west for a reason. Those hoops will flex inward.
It’s completely badass! Lots of folks in the comments are talking shit, but only because their rigs have been on jackstands for 5-10yrs while you guys are out having fun.
I have my parents 91 suburban they bought brand new a year before I was born and drove it my whole child hood until I turned 16 then I got it cause at that point they wasn't daily driving it anymore for last 5 years and we did a partially restoration on it refreshed the 454 that my dad put in it few years before 7.5 inch lift with double off road fox racing adjustable racing shocks and suspension with mickey Thompson short course/stadium super truck tires on aero off road racing rims partial roll cage for weight savings and took out the rear seats and bench seats and installed 8 racing seats with racing belts cuse why not it's cool and fun and all you gotta do is release 4 pins and a bolt on each seat to remove it I'm 30 now and I did more work to it now it's my ultimate off-road toy I can jump it and all and it's not a rough ride like you think with the 454 big block, I have jumped it 50 feet and about 8 foot on the air the bottom of tires was out on sand dunes and it felt like I didn't even jump it landed so softly
I like the natural talk. Not fake TV voices announcing a kids tball game. Carcass is the worst with the fake voices. That being said I do not feel that the technical expertise is high at MST.
Not to tell you guys what to do but the hydro assist lines should be run and secured to the tie rod or drag link and run up to the box. The way they are now will get snagged or smashed into by rocks and sticks. If you turn the assist fittings to where they face each other it's cleaner and makes it to where nothing hits them.
@@TacoXL When your right your right. I run leaf springs with assist so I had to secure mine to my tie rod and run longer hoses but in this case with a non side to side moving track bar your right about mounting the hoses to it.
I have watched the video this thing u build is wicked i have enjoyed lot more sitting here watching just like u been driving truck 😅 THAT JUMP WAS AWESOME AND DO IT AGAIN 😜 I WATCH END OF VIDEO 5 TIMES
The Toyota FJ80 snorkel as it is almost a perfect fit, same one I used. You should have filled the snorkel with sand when bending it to prevent kinks, old school tube bending method. Turn the vent around when splashing water, that should be a given.
Love the fact that you guys built a suburban. And glad that you fixed some issues from the last episode but it looks like there’s still some stuff that isn’t perfect. 1 being the fact that you don’t even have an air filter.
Bringing back the unbreakable suburban..... um the title in itself is self explanatory!!! It will do nothing butt break... thats why its coming back and back and back again!!!
It looked like your shocks were making contact with the lower mounts. The hoses for the hydro assist I feel like should have been longer and managed by strapping them to the track bar. When you cut the hydraulic line with a cutoff wheel did you clean out the inside? 16.5-inch wheels? That’s something you should probably talk about. Also, it’s ‘lock to lock’ not ‘bump to bump’ when talking about steering.
I would have been nice to see each one of the jumps in one continuous shot and then maybe also both of them in slow motion so we can see the compression and the rebound.
Very, Very poor form here! I pay to subscribe to Powernation and yet this episode is available to everyone and NOT available to me on the Powernation channel as a subscriber WTF!!!!!
The worst hydro steering hose routing I've ever seen. Rear coilover lower mounts are going to bind at full articulation and should protect the lower third of the coilover when reversing hung that low. Sick other than that!
