Window screens and free restrooms (in public places and commercial businesses) are generally required by most municipalities in the US. Cats are kept indoors so they don't get run over by cars and so that they don't pick up diseases from feral cats, and because since everyone has window screens, it's easy.

Soccer is a popular sport among school-aged children, more so than with adults. I'm sure you've heard of the term "soccer mom" to denote a mother who transports her children and their mates around to soccer practice and/or soccer games, etc.
@Marcel_Audubon
@Marcel_Audubon 2 месяца назад
a "soccer mom" is a middle aged woman who doesn't have any interests of her own so has surrendered her life to chauffeuring her children around to a bunch of pretentious activities - really nothing to do with soccer, more to do with being pathetic

Outdoor cat is a killer. Indoor cat is a lover.

I have an indoor/outside cat. My cat uses a doggie door to go out when he wants. Except late at night I close the door to the doggie exit.

Indoor cats live longer than outdoor cats, so on that basis alone I only had the latter. Not to mention cars and predators 😅

Cats here are generally indoors. There are some people that install a cat door so they can do their own thing.

I have a cat and he's an indoor cat. He's almost a year and half years old and he's an orange tabby. A very weird yet cuddly and talkative little guy. He causes a lot of mischief and our house would be absolutely boring without him. He's our baby and his name is LINK after The Legend of Zelda video games. 😼

On farms there are barn cats but mostly there has been a move for quite some time to have inside cats. It keeps them safer and keeps them from decimating the bird population. The last two beloved manx cats we had, ended up in the resident eagle's nest. Never again.

Yeah, the average lifespan of indoor cats is a lot longer than outdoor cats. There's a lot of hazards for outdoor cats (especially getting run over by cars).

Australia is very clean . Littering is frowned upon with beautiful national parks and the people very friendly. Australia is the lucky country.

Littering is a $1000 fine in most US places and window screens have been the norm here since before 1900 i understand that English people are well known for not being practical but this is the 21st century perhaps it time to take notice.

littering? you mean dumping by the side of the road? littering (like dropping your candy wrapper) certainly doesn't have a 1k fine anywhere

Excellent video! I enjoyed hearing your thoughts. I would bet that if a forward-looking entrepreneur decided to manufacture, and sell, window screens, he'd make a fortune over in Britain - a fortune $$$$$$.

Re: indoor cats -- You young people may not be aware that the internet existed before the World Wide Web and in those days it was mostly databases and mailing lists. I participated in the Cats mailing list and a lot of the content was Brits and Australians accusing US members of being control freaks because many kept their cats indoors and US members defending themselves. "Indoor cats live longer". "I had a cat that never came inside and he lived to be 20." "It's cruel to keep them in. They need to be free !" "Yeah, free to get run over or killed by a coyote." etc.

Soccer is VERY popular in the USA and there are soccer facilities everywhere. Not as popular as baseball, hockey, basketball and American football -- but it's quite common. Personally, I've never encountered a "paid" toilet anywhere in the USA.

I’d say soccer is more popular in cities but not in towns. Most small towns don’t even have soccer teams but most towns do have a space to play it or even makeshift play it.

Soccer is very popular with kids (considered safer and easier by parents) and is very popular as a womens' sport. The national and state parks are fantastic here. You do a nice job. How can we make suggestions/requests for future reactions?

Littering here is illegal countrywide so you will get fined if caught but we generally have a division of the waste management department that along with weekly collections they have crews that go around and clean up behind the losers who do dump in the less obvious places. I live next to a wooded area and people will sometimes dump their crap over there. There used to be paid toilets back in the day but if they still exist, they are definition the exception not the norm. What you will get sometimes is a business that doesn't allow public use, for instance a small gas station. Soccer is a very popular sport to play, more with school age kids so that's how it becomes an adult favorite. Dude, been there with the flies laying eggs and then it's an infestation. Dealt with it two summers straight so now I hunt any fly that gets in the house like a hunter, lol. Yes most cats are indoor cats. You'll still have outside cats but for the most part, they've been abandoned or some do let their cats roam around but to keep them safe, their indoors.

Most kids play soccer because their parents think it's a safer sport to play. Very few continue to play the sport however. Women's soccer though is very popular. All my cats have been indoor cats and want nothing to do with going outside.

Cannot understand having to pay to use toilets in train stations. Do you also have to pay to have lights on the stations? or to sweep the station and empty trash bins? All of that should be included in the train fare, in the city's transportation operating budget.

If you have a cat in the US and you actually want to keep it around, keep it in doors. We have predators over here. An out door cat may or may not live to tell the tale. Yalls lack of window screens baffles me.

People are required to control their pets and any animal that roams around in public could land the owner in legal trouble. And if that animal hurts someone, the owner is legally responsible for the medical bills of the injured person. Finally, not caring for your pets properly is very frowned upon in the US. Besides legal problems, bad pet owners could also have problems with their neighbors and other members of the public. People in America will become aggressive with people who mistreating animals and allowing cats or dogs to roam free is considered mistreatment.

There’s many reasons to keep a cat indoors and many have been listed but another reason is cats are EXTREMELY environmentally destructive! They are very efficient at hunting and reproducing (reproducing like rabbits, literally). Cats can almost single handedly put some pray animals on the endangered list because of how effective they are.

You don't have windows screens for the same reason we don't have metric system. The cost of retrofitting old windows then making new windows is too enormous. The cost of converting inventories items, spare parts, and existing equipment, machines, etc would be enormous with no gain in quality.

you have to pay at toilets every now and then in the US but it's nearly universally seen as a scummy thing to do and implies the owner of the property or whoever makes that call is a cheapskate.

I live in the Denver suburbs in Colorado, and having an outdoor cat is basically waiting for them to be killed. The amount of wild animals around is just way too high. Plus, outdoor cats hurt bird populations. Before I was born my parents already had 8 cats. They just built a screened in porch.

Cats outside work for you guys, but not for us. As well, because there are a lot of predators that will kill dogs, cats. And other things This is not to say that there are not outside cats. There are. They're just not as prevalent at least where I live

There are indoor and outdoor cats in the United States.. probably depends on the area. But I don't understand the point of having an outdoor cat? If they are gone all the time then what is the point of having a pet? Someone else can just take the cat also and keep it.. It could get hurt and not be able to get back home.. It could get diseases or ticks.. I'm aware of getting them vaccinated.. just defeats the whole point of having a pet in my opinion.
