Floorball is very popular sport in Nordic countries, it relates to hockey, it is played with a plastic ball with holes in it and with a plastic stick (nowadays probably some other materials used aswell) and it is 5 vs 5 in a rink. Goalie has no stick and goalies mostly play on their knees. No tackling but it is still quite physichal sport. The gear is much cheaper than in hockey and it is much safer too, so it is probably the reason it gained a lot of popularity during the recession in the 90s in Finland at least. And it is played in every school here. You need to look a video of it to understand it.

I suggest that, if you fly to Copenhagen, that you take the train Malmö - Göteborg, Göteborg - Jönköping, Jönköping-Örebro and last Örebro-Stockholm. You can just hop off at any minor city along the way and find local treassure. Almost every town is famous for something! Also you got to take the ferry between Stockholm and Helsingfors if you do consider visiting Finland aswell!

Fun fact: If you look at the amount of water Vättern has the most water of the lakes in Sweden. Vänern has a bigger area but Vättern is so deep that the waterbody of Vättern is bigger than Vänern.

Dreamhack (winter) at least used to be the worlds largest LAN party. Not strange since Sweden is such a PC heavy nation and at least used to have the highest computer density (computers per capita) in the world. I'd guess that isn't the case anymore because of smartphones and tablets... For some comparison the largest lake in Britain is apparently Lough Neagh in NI which is 383 km² compared to Vättern's 1'886 km². Sweden's largest lake Vänern is 5'450 km².

I used to live less than an hour away from Jönköping. I would tend to visit there the whole time, cause the city felt like it had everything that a much larger city would have... yet without all the stress that a larger city has. Oh and your pronunciation of Jönköping is pretty much spot on :)

You should visit Gränna and Visingsö. It's located 5 kilometers north of Jönköping. It is very beautiful and has a lot of historical places like castle ruins. There is also a candy cane factory to visit in Gränna.

If you go to Jönköping, you should go to stadsparken, get a nice view of the lake by kaptensbogatan or other viewpoints, tändsticks museum, and rosarium. That’s basically what this town has to offer.

I currently live in Jönköping. It's a nice, cozy city but not something I would recommend for someone going here just for vacation. It can be pretty fun as a student but for normal visitors it doesn't have any unique features to offer unless you go to events (like dreamhack you saw in the video, the world's biggest LAN-party. It's not just esport tournaments but normal people getting on the same local network and playing each others. It's a remnant of the past when online games wasn't as common or existed at all. You could play other people in your Local Area Network.). Jönköping is a clean, pretty and mostly calm city with a mix of old and new. The city has grown a lot in recent years. In the last 30 years the population has grown by ≈ 30%, mostly because of the "Jönköping University" (Which isn't a university in Sweden, so the name change of the school is a bit controversial). Jönköping has nice nature and a few sports teams that do decently okay, but yeah nothing unique really. You are right about it being a good place to have a family, It's nice and safe, but not an exciting town unless you are a student ( they have their own night club and bars). If you go to Jönköping you will see students walk around in their colour cordinated overalls depending on what university faculty they are part of. You will especially see the students dressed like that during Wednessdays afternoon until late night since Wednesdays are when the students go out clubbing and having parties. Dumme mosse is one of those things I would say are unique to Jönköping and I love to go there hiking, but it's not something worth to base your stay around. That sport was innebandy (literal translation inside bandy. Bandy is another sport that you probably have never heard about. Bandy is almost as a mix of football and ice hocley). It's a pretty common sport for people to play casually without being part of a club. It's a very cheap sport to get into. It's pretty common for schools to rent out their PE sport halls for a cheap price during evenings and weekends so groups of friends get together and rent it to play once a week just to get together and for exercise. Fun fact about innebandy, it's a sport closely related to firegifhters in Sweden. It's said that alll firefighters play innebandy and it's what they do when they have no emergencies. If you want to do more videos about Jönköping it's should probably be about the kick off for the university. It's a huge and intense event and is just a week or two filled with team building, partying, festivals and getting to know other students.

Jönköping is a small town most people just drive through since it is a central junction of different highways. I would not bother to visit Jönköping unless youré drive through (going somewhere else). As a tourist I think you would get disapointed. When I drive through Jönköping I rather make a stop in Gränna close to Jönköping. From Gränna you can catch a ferry to Visingsö and watch some ruins. I can recommend traveling by car around Sweden, it is very beatiful in the summer. 🙂

Well I'll be damned... My current hometown. Just as I was outside on the balcony at 01:10 at night and taking pictures of my mesmerizing view over the whole lake Vättern. At night time this place is beautiful... The E4-highway is magical if you drive from the north in the middle of the night.... And not to forget, there is no natural "border" between Huskvarna and Jönköping. And also that Jönköping is the home of the "Safety Matches", and Swedens logistical centerpoint, so logistics is a huuuuge part of the business around here.

Jönköping is a small an cosy town - we like to go there just to relax and visit friends. As a tourist, if you make a stop in this area in the summer, you must not miss to visit the very nearby small village Gränna. It is an old very cosy village with wood houses from the 1900's centry. In this village they are making the famous candy Polkagris. You can also find the small museum of Andrée's Arctic balloon expedition from 1897.

Or you know what, don’t go to that town with big expectations. If you drive by to Stockholm, just stop for a toilet break and lunch and a quick look at the lake. Then you can move on. Or book a room in quality hotel match, high up and towards the lake, a pretty nice view to sleep and wake up to, if you want to rest.

I live in a small village 28km North West of Jönköping called Mullsjö. Very nice nature around Jönköping. Train and bus are very god for all the region.😊

Jönköping was big under söderköping and norrköping..They where famous For the Husqvarna brand that exploded in sweden..and the coolest lake in sweeden..they have the hugest carmeetings every spring in ELMIA ITS SO HUGE..MOTOR SPORTS Even finnland and norway and åland travel to Jönköping...in april cars bikes builders trucks an lorries an companys and supporters. It has been all favorits every year..but every event in Elmia is fully packed with tousends of people from all over the world..

Lake Vättern is second largest and second deepest of the some 100,000 lakes that we got in Sweden. Its 300km around it and around 130m deep at the deepest spot just South of the Island Visingsö. Average depth is about 40m. Its ancience "crack" som 20-30 Million years ago and once the sea covered all this area as well. It takes about 60 years to circulate all of the water of Lake Vättern with rivers going into and out of the Lake. Its a beautiful lake and lots of small picturesque places around it.

Sweden has 95,700 lakes larger than 1 hectare and Finland has 56,000 and Norway 65,000 lakes of the same size. So far, no one has counted all the lakes in Sweden that are smaller than that, so we don't actually know if Finland, which claims to win in terms of numbers, actually does? We have many lakes anyway. You haven't checked out Gotland and Visby yet, have you?

Jönköping is also a town known for its population of travellers. It is reflected in its dialect.

You should for sure visit it in the summer time.....beautiful place....

Looking forward when you start to react to my part of Sweden, the High Coast/Höga Kusten. If you like nature, walking/hike, views, open air museum it is a really nice place. There you can come across Mannaminne, Skuleberget, Slåttedalsskrevan, Hemsö fästning/fortress, Ådalen III and more.

Jönköping is also a transport hub with many companies having big warehouses near the city.

I study in Jönköping for 1 year and worked at Husqvarna a nice town but cold in vinter beacuse off lake Vättern.

You alredy have a full bucket list, by visit Sweden, Finnland, Norway and Denmark.. I recomend you to by a mobile home, you gonna need it.. and at least a year.. here! Or go more practical, fly to any of the capitol citys.. and be prepared to sleep a lot becuse you gonna be tired, by flying and walking! Just visiting Stockholm castell takes tree days for all excursions.. and one must take a coffe and Victoria cake at the royal courtyard! But it only take two days at drottningholm where the royal family lives! Two days at Djurgården with Gröna Lund, Skansen, Vasa museum, ABBA museum! One day in "gamla stan", another day at "Södermalm"! Then do a daytrip to Waxholm! Eh did you get it.. it take time for every capitol to visit!

This might not be the best video about the town, it doesn’t really provides a good visual representation, especially since it was recorded during winter, but the town is mostly pretty generic so it’s ok, (the town is only relevant because of the lake) the video is intended for students who are considering studying here. Also to get a real look at the beauty of the lake, you have to be there in person and the weather must be nice.

The two guys English accents tell me they are not Swedish. One of the sounds German (but he looks Swedish!) and the other one sounds French. Jönköping is really pretty btw.

Innebandy (floorball) It's super big in Sweden (if you look at the practitioners there's hardly any money in it though) know that it's almost an unknown phenomenon/sport in the UK. Many Swedes are big on e-sports or at least were 10-15 years ago it was us and the South Koreans. You can definitely visit Jönköping, but if I were a tourist with limited time, I would probably rather choose some other cities. Absolutely nothing wrong with Jönköping, but a fairly ordinary Swedish city, has its sights but perhaps nothing that makes one wonder either. Sweden has a lot of lakes in general. It is probably true that it is a good city to raise children in. Since the cities in Sweden are generally smaller than in the UK, Jönköping still counts in Swedish terms as a relatively large city, I think they enter the top 10 of the largest cities in Sweden. It is also the city of residence for the county in which they are located. We have a lot of towns with between 30-60 thousand inhabitants, I would probably say that there is an average town, unfortunately we don't really have a word for Town in Swedish which I believe in English is usually used for something bigger a village but less than a city, so for us everything from 10 thousand-20 million is a city, however most often if the city exceeds 350 thousand inhabitants we usually say that it's a big city, So only Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö are counted as this, but usually it is added that Malmö might be doubtful if it really is..

Jönköping is a very nice place to visit or spend some days in, its near water and they have everything you need =). These guys doesnt sound that they are from Sweden, more Germany, so maybe they are students fom another country. They are good though to put Jönköping on the map =)

Not just Jönköping has lots of lakes. Sweden has over 100 000 lakes. Where I am there's 10 lakes within a kilometer.

12:45 yeah basically it’s a really great place to live (if you don’t count the weather), but it’s not that nice for tourists, pretty boring town. I would say that because most buildings are new and unattractive, since they demolished like 70% of the beautiful old buildings, and no one cares about modern boxes.

A nice and quite typical middle sized swedish city, they should have shown more of the actual city.

Huge cargo hub to and from the airport, as well as charter passenger flights, but no regular business flights etc as the Gothenburg airport is a bit too close and therefore that types of passenger flight head off from there instead. Economy of scale :-) Though, the Jönköping Airport is also an important emergency airport and an airport that is being used during crisis situations, as well as bringing in NATO tropps from now on etc.

You want to see everything!! So… you’re gonna need weeks to travel around. And that’s just in Sweden. Then you have Finland, Norway and Danmark… I think you need months. I like Jönköping but Gränna is better. It’s very close to Jönköping.
