For public intoxication its more if a person is so drunk they are a safety risk or violent. If you're just a little buzzed but minding your own business its not a big deal. If you're causing a problem someone will call the police and you'll get put in jail until you sober up or someone comes to get you. People don't go to actual prison for that. I'm always amazed when I see Brits and other Europeans talk about how much they want to go to New York City. As an American I would do anything to avoid that cesspool. Most of the people that I know have been there one time and never ever ever want to go back. There are so many good things to see in the USA, but big cities are definitely not one of them. If we are lightweights when it comes to drinking, it's only because we don't have to stay drunk to cope with where we live. We drink for fun not survival.

Everclear is legally sold in most US states. It is 190 Proof grain alcohol. That means it is 95% Pure Alcohol. The Moonshine from illegal stills might even be higher than that.

I was under the impression that the Brits wanted out of the EU in order to go back to calling their own shots. Certainly the history implies they didn’t need anyone else before and they brought the US along into WWII and onto becoming a superpower. It’s the British who kept peace as possible in the world, followed by the U.S. The two countries were the major players in the world with their militaries and lost many good men. The British certainly have the fortitude to stand alone.

I went to an Midievel gathering several years ago. Performers there from all over America and I ended up drinking with a group from the mountains of West Virginia. They started passing around a jar of Moonshine made by one of them, and they wouldnt let me drink it. I had never drank it before. However, I did put the liquid to my lips. I had the worst case of chapped lips ever and it took 3 days before the pain stopped. None for me, Thanks.

The commercially available "legal moonshine" we have here is 95%, which is basically pure alcohol with the moisture it absorbs from the air.

You don’t typically get ticketed or arrested for waking home drunk. You get a drunk in public charge when you pass out in the street, or a yard, or decide to fight someone’s mailbox because it looked at you wrong

I was raised in corn country right in the middle of the US and my grandpa used to make moonshine. In the 80's their small town put together a cookbook of old recipes and there were 20 different recipes for shine and schnapps. When it comes to the EU, like anything else, you can't take to heart and simply believe one persons reporting on just one side of the argument. The examples givin for it being dumb to leave was 1: being part of a trading bloc 2: being able to travel within The EU countries for more than 90 days without having to return home. The reasons people elected to leave are MUCH more significant. The number 1 reason is that as a part of the EU, the member states are being ruled by the unelected body of the European Comission. The representatives are appointed, not elected by the people and they pass rules, regulations and laws that supercede the laws of the individual member states, meaning... The Parliaments and Prime Ministers of the member states are mere figure heads and your laws meaningless against what the Euopean Comission dictates. An example is they regulate ALL industry within the member states. The decide what and how much of anything a member country can produce and trade. Their regulations destroyed what was a thriving fishing industry for hundreds of years in England, killing thousands of jobs and destroying communities. That"s just one example. Anything that your country created and exported was regulated by the EU and it killed 10's of thousands of jobs. Your immigration laws were also being dictated by the EU. The list goes on and on. Simply put, it is 100% a dictatorship, that supercedes your democratically elected government.

As a Texan I can confirm that being drunk in public won't get you in jail or prison. Walking around with an exposed open container will get you stopped but you won't get anything worse than a fine.

Note about some laws in the USA. It is at the descrition of the local police to enforce them. There are a lot of laws on the books that are rarely used. For example, practicing witchcraft in Louisiana is illegal.

If not for a history events my family could of still been living in north east Scotland but out of all the places the family had split off to kinda glad i ended up in America That segment about American laws is just a list of "Dumb" laws that are out dated or hardly enforced of which some could be there for the sake of "Just in case". As for the rest of the video i got a great laugh out of most of it as it proved we both have people one could refer to as brainless leaving the rest of us to remind them to not look up in the rain. They take you to jail, or the police station, and put you in the "drunk tank", until you sober up. You can jaywalk right in front of a police car, and nothing will happen. Unless, you cause an accident, or obstruct traffic, or something. Occasionally, they might use jaywalking as an excuse to detain, and search someone who matches the description of a suspect in a serious crime. If it's not you, and you don't act like a fool, they let you go without a ticket or anything.

Most common USA liquor is 80 proof ( 40% alcohol ), but there are many "specialty" liquors that are popular that are 90, 100, and 120 proof ( 45%, 50%, and 60% alcohol ) and a couple of "grain alcohol" liquors like Everclear and Golden Grain that have 180, 190, and once in a blue moon 200 proof ( 90%, 95%, and 100% alcohol ) that are very dangerous but tasty.

As for the police, I have watched numerous videos of British police using a checklist with a bunch of questions on it like how was that word used or a certain behavior demonstrated ? Absolutely insane like where did you use that word it and how was it implemented ?I kid you not. Bacardi makes a rum that is 151 proof. That is 75.5% pure alcohol. Pure fire.

Favorite drink is a ice cold... there's frost build up on the bottle... 100 proof Captain Morgan spiced Rum. 50% alcohol per volume... tastes much smoother than the 73 proof. Not a fan of anything stronger than that but I can take down a gallon of 73 proof without getting sloshed xD

the drinking laws are not really enforced in the south as much. they will still give you dwi if your really bad. but most of the time a good officer will follow you home and make sure you stay there.
