The action at Manchester Piccadilly station early on the afternoon of 23 May 1994. We see classes 08, 86, 101, 150, 158 (in both 2 & 3 car configurations), 304 (soon to be retired) 305/1 & 305/2 (in both 3 & 4 car configurations). A wide variety of liveries are seen including Intercity, Regional Railways, Greater Manchester PTE, Merseyrail and West Yorkshire PTE.

Eeehh that brings back some memories loved that made me quiet nostalgic loved the 304's and 5's used travel from Heald Green on the styal line on them back in the day before the Airport line existed Thanks for sharing

The train at 4:48 is in the Network North West livery, NNW was created to attempt to capitalise on the success of Network South East

I was using Piccadilly daily in 1994 , mostly on the Rose Hill and Hadfield services which involved travelling on '101' dmu's and the '304/305" electrics. One of the '101' units had been painted in B.R. green and was running as a 3-car formation: it may have survived somewhere but without the centre car.

wow! so many train types and liveries, even some which I recognised!!! (Blue Grey, Network SouthEast) The railway scene has changed sooo very much since then!

What a colourful mixture of units and locos, many of which are now history. Theres much less variety around now. Even at Piccadilly its all pretty uniform most of the time :-(

BR really squeezing their money's worth out of the ex NSE class 101s again! People complain of overcrowding now, but 2 car class 158s on Transpennine services, remember.

+David Taylor Glad you enjoyed the video. I did take a few still shots of trains inside the station but they were probably taken while I was waiting for a train to depart, so they will be similar angles to those in the video. Unfortunately my UK videos do not get as many views as my North American videos and so since Google gives me a commission from the adverts which I use to pay for camera and computer equipment, I have not edited a lot of my archival British Railways footage. I worked at Piccadilly between 92 - 98 in the barbers they used to have in the station. Do u no of anywhere where pictures of Station of the 90s erea are available mate if possible

Unfortunately I do not since I live in Canada.All I can find in my collection is one view inside the signalling centre taken in 2000

The North was the dumping ground for everything too knackered for London. I remember the ex NSE 101 had a first class section,unique to the north west,and I was the guard on that set many times!
