I think much of the world views American food as mostly garbage and fast food because that's all the gets exported globally. It's nice to have some representation of what actual American food is that is rarely represented properly.

As a Kentuckian born and raised, thank y’all for coming to Kentucky. I feel like so many people from other countries visit places like New York and California and think they know what America is like, but we do things so different around here. Hope you enjoyed all the little joys of the Bluegrass State.

I've said it on other videos, and I'll say it again. Thank you so much for showcasing a part of America that doesn't get near enough exposure. Yes we have crazy people, yes we have problems, yes we can be fanatical. But, as is clear in your videos, there are so many of us who are devoted to our crafts, value quality and intentionally, and care about the environment and our communities.

As someone who is on the border of the North vs South of the US, all anyone ever hears about are the crazies. The outwardly racist, those who worship confederate ideologies, etc. But I strongly believe that if people did more travelling to areas they think are cesspools, the more I they would see them for what I've seen them as. Just normal communities of hardworking folks who like to come together in a community. We've got a big problem of too much judging and not enough coming together and learning about each other.
@Silverizael
@Silverizael Год назад
@@jjkurtz03 It's just too bad that the politicians elected by the people of the state are trying to make life so horrible for any and every minority group in the state.
@DimT670
@DimT670 Год назад
@@jjkurtz03 the problem is that way too many are like the examples you mentioned, and community of hard working people is in no way incompatible with racism or being a confederate. They just exclude those they hate because of simple neutral inherent qualities they were born with These people are not judged because of who they are, but because of what they say and do. And its not a couple of crazies but a significant precentage of the population
@chelseamorning4640

It's because stupid often speaks louder than smart, on any side. So people just hear the loud outliers rather than hearing the majority of genuinely decent people who are too busy living to be problematic.

Can I just say how impressed I am with Ben's driving? I'm not sure I'd trust myself with the steering wheel on the right and driving on the left side of the road. I think I'd crash into a double decker bus.
@charleyh.553
@charleyh.553 Год назад
I think our lanes in the US are a bit wider, and the roads tend to be straighter (more planned/grid-like). I think it'd be easier to try driving here than try driving there. (Still wouldn't want to try switching sides)
@kilianortmann9979
@kilianortmann9979 Год назад
It's not extremely hard, especially because the wheel is also on the "wrong" side and reminds you of that every time you step in the car. You need to make the mental switch once, and then just stay in that mindset, in some ways it's actually harder on an empty road with no one to remind you.

I see a lot of foreign people - typically UK - talking shit about American food over Reddit-way. And it's true enough that food standards are, legally-speaking, fucking horrendous here - all these chemicals other places have banned, the shit conditions animals are raised in, the bland mass produce, the salmonella risk the U.K. just doesn't even have because they have the sense to vaccinate their chickens, the lower standards for chocolate (and BS ways merchants get under even that low bar, like labeling product 'chocolate-flavored' or 'chocolatey'), the lesser cheese... ...But this here makes the multitude of ways this place is garbage more bearable.

Soup beans! I grew up with them, because my dad grew up with them, and his parents grew up with them! I still make them occasionally -- great for the cold winter days. Pimento cheese is the USA's version of a cheese-and-onion sandwich. And I can't wait to see what you get into in Maysville -- my grandpa would go there with the farmer who employed him, the two would get roaring drunk, and then the horse that drew the wagon would take them home. It's where we sold our tobacco when I was a kid, and where we bought our steers to raise.

They usually have common game like venison and rabbit, but I've also had turtle, pheasant, alligator, ostrich, muskrat, squirrel, reindeer and a few others. They normally support local organizations like VFW posts or volunteer fire departments.
