#raidernation #lasvegasraiders #raiders #nfl #nfl Brock Bowers is not the waste of a pick some say he is. He'll be on the field along with fellow Las Vegas Raiders' tight end Michael Mayer and be used in a multitude of ways.
I remember the 1988 draft. Flores had stepped down. The team was headed in the wrong direction. Mike Shanahan took over. Tim Brown was still on the board at #6. Ron Wolff said “Thank you”. Michael Irvin and Sterling Sharpe were also in that class. We already had Mervyn Fernandez, James Lofton and I think Willie Gault was acquired in a trade. I wondered why. It seemed like overkill. Then, Terry McDaniel got selected at #9. It was a good day. Brock Biwers getting selected, then JPJ at 44…it brought back memories of ‘88.
Interesting you bring up Mike Shanahan, who was replaced by Art Shell who took a 1-3 team to 8-8... the following season Shell went 12-4. Maybe some history repeating in more ways than one.
He was completely uncoverable in Collage & he will be an absolute matchup nightmare for us. I think it was an excellent pick... even while I wouldn't have minded one of those massive OT's that went right behind him.
Carl.. I fuck with your videos/content. What's understood no need to explain. Side: notes.. many of Raider fans arent avid football fans like some of us. I appreciate you taking the time out to break down the gamefilm such as Bowers fade skills against the Gamecocks. Many of us understand why TT, AP, and LG picked up Bowers but it always sadden and frustrate me how casual fans simply don't see what we see.
When it comes to his blocking… he did have a foot injury that hindered his blocking abilities, especially later in the season. If you look at his early season tape, he’s much more tenacious and shows his strength
He’s a really cool player in that you don’t know if he’s a wide receiver, a fullback or a tight end on any given play. Good luck guessing right on personnel packages. My favorite play of his he took a jet sweep 75 yards to the house. Absolute 😂
Probably the best YAC TE of all time coming out of college. Dude is a weapon. Freshman year he dominated targets playing with AD Mitchell, Jermaine Burton, & Ladd McConkey.
He can do it all. I hope our OC is now up all night drawing up plays for him. I want to see him at Tight on the line play one play two in the slot play three split out wide, play four lined up at fullback, play five lined up as a wr.
great breakdown. i watched his tape after we drafted him, and i immediately thought of him as a fullback. i was hyped tho because he is practically the best fullback prospect since they went extinct. crazy route runner too. im really excited for play action with him, because he is such a good blocker, but you also know he can sell the run and get open. this is the sauce, i just hope luke getsy is cooking
I doubt he's gonna be doing much TE blocking duties when we have Mayer who is a better blocker and can also still flare out and do what we need him to on stunts, freeing up Bowers to be all over the place.
Raiders fans, do you remember the 1982 draft? We had a very good RB in Kenny King and you know who we drafted that year, just a HOF RB named Marcus Allen. History repeats itself yet again. B.B. is a potential multiple year All-Pro player and will soon be considered as the best or second best Offensive player we have. Carl will have to invent a new nickname for this guy.
I don’t see the raiders losing more than 6 games at the most! Putting 200 on raiders make playoffs ty for the video Bowers will prove his worth by week 4
Great video Carl. No doubt he will do great and I believe will put last years pick on the bench (effectively making it a less valuable pick than previously thought). The few plays we run a double tight end will be great but I will be amazed if we run 20 of them in the season. It isn’t that he was a bad pick, he is gonna be a great. But we just added a bigger turbo to the engine and have two flat tires on the right side of the truck. We might move a hair faster than we did with the extra HP, but we aint winning the race until we fix the worst thing that has been hurting our offensive for the last 20 years. I’m salty - I get it. But I am also more silver than black in my hair. 53 years old and know how long since we won a superbowl? 40 years man. When our amazing feat is making it to one playoff game to loose- it is disappointing to say the least. If it was things like 2016 where DC4 was injured and we had no back up QB to get anything done- I get it. And I will never forget the cheating refs give the win to tom TUCK brady. That’s enough to make people think stuff really is rigged like the wwf. But man when we just keep making the same error over and over that any high school coach understands- loose the trenches loose the season… it just gets old. And each new coach we get- it takes them a couple years to realize that o line needs fixed. Everyone want super star skilled (ball handling) players- like strongest transmission- best transfer case- biggest engine and better turbo. Make the paint job shine with some killer 15” subs and huge amps. But man when we always have 2-3 flat tires- you aint gonna win the car show if you can’t even get there.
If Zeus can add a little change of direction to his game then there’s literally nothing that can stop him from becoming the force of our offense. Bowers and Mayer are going to be lining up everywhere. One on the line one at fullback. Both on the line. One shifting to the outside. Opposing defenses are going to have way too much to think about with our receiver corps on top
Play @Mark 7:32 My boi Gronk would be Proud! When you talk about throwing unruly patrons outta the club that's, textbook blueprint on how its done! Go Raiders
Bowers isn't going to be running away from linebackers or corners in the NFL like he did in college. He will defiantly open up the field for raider receivers and make it more difficult for teams to match-up in two tight end sets. Because the raiders don't really have a q-b 1 that can throw the ball downfield they're going to rely on the running game with dink and dunk passing. I do think they'll end up with another q-b in free agency, maybe even Baker Mayfield. You know what they used to say: Defense wins championships. If they can keep teams at or under 17 points a game and whoever ends up being the q-b is a game manager that doesn't turn the ball over they have a chance at the playoffs. When jimmy-glass's contract expires in June there will be a ton of cap space for a Brady or Mayfield. The next few months of free agency will tell a lot about where the teams projected playoff possibilities are.
Regardless of Mayer that was the last regime so whoever was drafted before this year is having to compete for their jobs that someone else gave them imo
The problem is people acting like they know ball when they don't...Brock is a rb a fb a wr a te but because he's listed as a te that's all people see. I went around saying how we needed to draft Johnson c like we did pre draft but everyone blew me up saying we don't need a c when the guy is a iol that means g or c... people only want who they hear their favorite pundit pump
@@RicardoDuran_Jr you got me, but I still think K. Mack was inconsistent at times. Especially when it came to sacks. One example is when he would have a 2-4 sack game and not gave one for a number of weeks. My guess is that he would have those multiple sack games when playing a lesser player.
Six QBs drafted before pick #13 and only CBs were taken with picks 40-43. Is it just me, or was the rest of the NFL coordinating to make the Raiders reach for subpar talent? It doesn't matter, because by taking the best player available, the Raiders had their best draft in a decade.
🤷🏻♂️ Whoever says.. he is a wasted pick ’ is probably the same ppl that Probably wanted him ON their teams’ If it's Raiders fans' 🧐 then.., they don't know football 🏉 and are just complainers . 🙎🏻♂️ They don't know what the Raiders are going to do with the Offense.
🗣️Can you smell what the bROCK is cooking? bROCK smelling Bowers elevates Mayers ability, by taking a good te & making him a sleeper because Bowers is so much better at the position. Mayer is the 5-7th option now. RB(Laube sleeper in catches), Adams, Meyers, Bowers, AOC likes Tucker then Mayer, Gallup. Mayer is down the list. That turf toe isn't a joke. Deion said, a ballerina can't ballerine without that toe, he retired. That injury doesn't get better with football. Bowers is the best fail safe for Mayers and Adams (contract wise) leaving. Main point: Shannon Sharpe, Kelce, Gates. The Raiders haven't had a hofer stud at TE for a while. Mr. Darren-DIAR(no-yards-after -carry)-RIA-Waller doesn't count lol. Literal diarrhea at the position for decades. (Since potassium hardens 💩). Tolesco: "It's finally time for the black hole to tighten up in the middle." So we added two spider y 🍌 weapons up the middle in (Mayer& Bowers). Now with the weapons of Davante, Meyers, and (over kill if they show up 400+ yards 4 TDs each: Tucker/Gallup) The the middle should generate a lot of Firsts by way of sitting in the siems/TDs in the redzone.
