I see no one really has said anything about what his illness is, Diverticulitis is a very painful condition and if his was anything like mine they rerouted his intestines, and it never feels the same,,That 6 hour comment was a cover for his fear of being looked at like he was weak, That's one reason Alistair kept hitting the scar ,..They cut your Intestine then take out the bad part and sew it back together and you can not eat anything for 5-7 day's,And for those who are stupid they give you an IV feed,,,But the mental part is bad...your gut dont feel secure for a couple of years..Have a few teeth pulled then Box Nick Diaz and you might get the Idea...Brock was not gonna stay champ anyway.,Between Cain and other true MMA fighter's he would have to increase his learning curve and his heart was'nt in it
In fact Alistair was hitting his liver not intestents....It is a big difference and it is an old Dutch technique...Maybe you odda do your research before writing :)
+Nuno Sousa AM sorry mate but u r the one who is dumb here! brock lessnar has always been this huge he is a freak of the nature they dont make them like that in gyms no matter how hard u work or how much roids u take in u cannot come close to being that big it jst dont happen ! he had it in his genes and he grew bigger and larger then most people and if he had taken roids he would have ruined his own body the guy who is that big already dont need that thing he did use painkillers and stuff to deal with the pain and other kinds of things but no never steriods! he is just freakishly huge
+Mathieu Paquette In wwe people do take riods but its all under check and they see that its all under control but right now the kind of guys that are coming in it dont look like any of them are on roids!
@TheXXLethal It was an emotonal decision. This happens a lot. He will come back. I think he just won't get over it. He'll want to have at least another good fight, even if he loses that one, too, as long as he feels he's given his best. So many fighters do retire, and every year they have to mentally force themselves to suppress the urge to fight again. Now, a lot of fighters do eventually lose that urge. But Brock will never get over that last fight. He knows he's better.
Don't eat horse meat! LOL, that was probably the funniest comment to come out of the audience. Good press conference video and it's good to see Brock Lesnar back in the game. It'd have been a shame if such an athlete as him would have to hang up the gloves because of an illness. Here's to UFC 141...and for that matter, 140 as well Seriously, two amazing PPV's back to back!
Lol i feel like my whole life was a lie growing up i always hated brock lesnar in the wwe but oh boy was i wrong, hes such a cool and funny person completely opposite of how he was showcased in wwe, what a great man, RESPECT!!
@Maximum007 34 is fairly old in professional sports, especially one where you beat each other senseless. also ever hear it's easier to learn stuff when you're younger? he picked up MMA in his 30s, he's old
@Vassago879 Lesnar was never arrested for steroids nor has he ever tested positive for steroids; and he has been tested since high school. He was arrested because officers "thought" he had steroids, but later testing proved they were not in fact steroids, but a vitamin supplement.
@SensiiSmokeZz That's like saying since Wanderlei beat Rampage twice, and Rampage beat Chuck Liddell twice, that Chuck Liddell should have lost to Wanderlei. It didn't happen like that did it? MMA math does not work.
Let's be honest, Brock is a great fighter, and a freak just because he was able to do so well in the ufc off of no mma experience. But I think part of the reason he did so well early on is because he was fighting people he was bigger than. He was able to use his weight and wrestling to gain and advantage and ground and pound. But when he fought someone bigger than him in Overeem, he had some trouble.
@davistran510 Well said man. Brock has his faults but he has achieved a lot in a short space of time, more than most in a lifetime. I'm disappointed to see him retire but then I'm surprised he even came back after getting diverticulitis the first time let alone twice! People need to stop hating on the guy and give him the credit he's due. You won't find anyone in the UFC talking shit about the guy he's earned their respect for giving it everything he had despite his illness.
@Damondeeh20 Maybe, but he looks pretty solid to me...check out the difference in their head sizes. Lesnar's dome is freaking huge, Reem's looks small in comparision.
Youre so right...I honestly think he shouldnt have taken that match with overeem at least not that early after his surgery. things would go down differently.
here's the thing with this fight..it's on new years eve. you're celebrating. your a brock or overeem fan. ur watching it while 2011 is coming hoping for an exciting year. then brock lost or vice versa. then your outlook suddenly plummeted...you say"damn UFC"..
@LucianLycan1313 It goes Bantamweight, Featherweight, Lightweight, Welterweight, Middleweight, LightHeavyweight, Heavyweight, and THEN there's these two!
@TheXXLethal In case you didn't here his speech at the end of the fight, he promised his wife & kids he would retire. If he would have won he would fight one more time and then retire anyway. He didn't lose all confidence & pride.
I knew Brock couldn't handle overeems' standup, I had feeling it couldn't go very well. But if Brock would took reem down, he would manhandled the reem. He just couldn't handle the highly technical kickboxers and Strikers. I wish he stayed longer and trained and learned more. But I love when he's the beast in WWE
+George spartan all steroids in world want make ppl know how to strike lol. He had better striking. I remember that testosterone controversy with overeem, but if he wasn't on whatever he was taking, alistar was still been the better kickboxer and striker. Plus, I don't think Brock gave is all in that fight. I think he knew he had Vince and wwe in his back pocket, and he could go back and make millions again no prob. It was prally a combo of overeemz striking advantage, him on some extra testosterone, and he wasn't 100% in that fight cuz he knew he could go back to wwe if he lost the fight. Brock was a beast at wrestling and ground n pound, but as you could see with Cain, he wasn't experienced enough to handle high level strikers. I was just as let down he lost to Cain as overeem. I been a lesnar fan since 2002
Pipebomb guy he didn't. He was 5 months from the surgery already from that disease. He just couldn't take overeem down and overeem was a superior striker. Brock doesn't suck as a mma fighter or anything, he just couldn't take the man down to beat his ass that night. I also think he had that money Vince was offering for him to come back and be a part time mega star for wwe again, and he wasn't all there mentally for UFC 141. Plus, overeem was on a lot performance enhancements that made his already powerful leg kicks two times harder to Brock's surgical repairs stomach. I think second time around Brock would have a much better chance against him. Fact, I think Brock would crush him
@DjInTheFlesh If he didn't have a chin, then he would probably would have been knocked out by Cain or Carwin. There is a difference between not having a chin and panicking when getting punched.
If Brock lesnar has recovered from the surgery and his illness and back to his best when he first burst onto the scene he will defeat Alistair with ease. Back then he was able to take chair shots without falling down, doesn't get knockout easily by just punches and is able to pick up, slam people and F5 people like the undertaker with ease back in his wwe days. Maybe he shld return there and train to recapture his form.
@yeahthrowingdownroc I see what your saying, I had to listen to a workmate that would eat Brock's shit go on about the guy prior to the fight with Overeem. I personally don't believe he could have been 100% after his illness but he has to say he is at the press conference. No fighter on the planet is going to sit there and say "I'm not 100%" they can't it's inviting disaster, just looking at him he doesn't look as buff as he was 2 years ago for a start!
brock needs to do what he used to do best, bullrushing and machine gun goliath hammer fists, brock being technical ended up in a bit of disaster and he needs to not shrivel up when he does take hits.
