He's actually thrown a lot of passes that should be considered "bad" decisions but he's able to make those plays. His off-script plays are actually a very underrated part of his game.

My good friend was a niners fan so we always watched their games and he has been dumb impressive the moment he walked in the field. Fairy tale story for sure that he even got the opportunity to do what he does being the last pick in draft…. But we can say that is the definition of seize the opportunity! Every other team in the league drafted a player before him that they would go back in time and replace.. it’s just so much to comprehend. What a guy tho.

Jimmy G played like 1.5 games with McCaffrey. Deebo and Kittle were getting hurt left and right over the course of his time as QB. Also, clearly Aiyuk has improved a ton. Congrats Purdy, you're slightly better than Bum Ass Jimmy G. I have a hard time deciphering whether 49er fans actually think that Purdy is great, or whether they're just insecure and trying to push the narrative to try and convince others.

The final piece to a complete puzzle. He doesn't necessarily carry the team on his back, though. Unlike some other QB's who are good, but wound up on a sh*tty team, so they weren't really able to shine that bright. (Kyler Murray for example)

you know I get it from the average non-49ers fan, but how in the world people who do sports analysis for a living who are still saying this is beyond crazy.

Yeah, that is funny. He's only THE TOP DEEP BALL QB IN NFL HISTORY. Well, for the past 20 years - since PFF has been tracking the deep ball stat. Brock Purdy is currently 66%(!) for pass attempts 20+ yards or more. That's the highest deep ball Cmpl% since they've tracked the stat. The previous high point was Tua Tagovailoa last year at 54.5%. Brock is currently 11+% higher than the previous NFL deep ball Cmpl% record. Dak Prescott threw a longest pass of 39 yards against the Eagles, and the media made a ruckus and pronounced Dak as the MVP frontrunner. Meanwhile, earlier that day Brock threw a 54 yarder, a 45 yarder and a 41 yarder - 3 deep balls all longer than Dak's, and nobody mentioned it. That weekend Dak threw 24 of 39 (61.5%) for 271 yards, 6.9 Yds/Att, for a 99.4 Passer Rating, while Brock threw 19 of 27 (70.4%, his 7th(!) consecutive game with 70+% Cmpl rate) for 368 yds (that's 136% of Dak's yardage but from less than 70% of Dak's attempts), 13.6 Yds/Att (essentially DOUBLE Dak's efficiency) for a 122.1 Passer Rating. If Purdy can't throw deep then how does he have the 3rd most yardage but with the 22nd most (one of the fewest number of) attempts? Hah! Just noticed: Lamar Jackson and Brock Purdy both have the same number of completions so far this year (252, with Lamar needing 18 more attempts to achieve the match (377 vs. Brock's 359)); both played 13 games. Lamar: 2,934 yds; Brock: 3,553 yds. Brock has 619 yards more from the same number of completed passes. Yeah, that's over 6 football fields more.

@@rhmayer1 I have a theory. They don’t want Purdy as MVP. What message does that send that the last pick in the 2022 Draft “Mr Irrelevant” pretty much proved Draft analysts are not what they claim to be. Same People who put Zach Wilson up as a Bona Fide Superstar.

I think his haters just watched the eagles game and assumed all of his games were low air yard big yac games and it just isn't true. His highlight real is as good or better than any mvp out there. People who actually watch the tape, they know.

I don't think they doubt that he's playing at an extremely high level but they refuse to believe he's an Elite QB at this moment. For whatever reasons which make no sense to me, Dak is in the mix for the MVP. I don't agree, we slaughtered the 'boys 42-10. It must be that 3 game losing streak after the trouncing of Dallas or they feel that Dak is carrying the cowboys. Personally, I'll take Brock over Dak any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Go Niners.

I totally agree with you. Plus, he has few Int's. He's running Shanny's offense as Kyle intended so he is somewhat the product of the scheme but so was Joe in Walsh's system. They both fit.
