Hey everybody, I know this situation has blown up and it’s been talked about for a while now and people are starting to learn more about it I just wanted to address one part of it. In the video they talk about “the mutual friend” that caused a lot of issues. I am not the person who did what happened. I regularly talk with Hunter when I’m in VA so we don’t have any issues. I don’t mind the fun drama of people saying Hunter and I have beef since we talk about it a lot but for something a little bit more serious I’d just like the clear the air.

I am reminded of a few good rules/agreements that everyone should make for themselves: (1) be impeccable with your speech-don’t lie about yourself or others because when you do so you create poison; (2) don’t take anything personally-whatever anybody else does is more about them than you, and when you take it personally, you expose yourself to being poisoned and/or manipulated, and worse, you ripen the conditions for lacking an ability to extend forgiveness, so you end up hurting yourself over a long duration, usually making it worse with your own actions, instead of putting an issue to rest; and (3) don’t make assumptions-assumptions expose us to negative energy and unjust opinions not based on fact, and this is due mostly to fear, so we can end up expending insane amounts of energy and create terrible destruction based on things that are only happening in our own minds, not to mention exposing ourselves to manipulation yet again. I have to be honest. This issue doesn’t involve me, but it seems like there is a substantially significant assumption that has been made, and that is fueling a major part of the problem. I understand Brodie being upset about moving to VA, but you have to appreciate that Paul is whom he is on tour, and you never know what he is going to feel and what he feels he needs to do-but I can definitely understand Brodie not being pleased. However, the issue with the two friends saying a third party (who isn’t Paul) did something that Paul is assumed to be lying about and/or having any real control over just leaves me with more questions than really anything (you don’t know for a fact that Paul has firsthand knowledge of anything or felt like he had control over anything, or even felt as if it were his responsibility). And frankly…..I am not at all interested in all this drama between Brodie and Paul (or the appearance of drama generated by one party). I don’t need to know any of this, neither does the average person, and it just contributes a negative message-sorry, but true. The best thing for Paul and Brodie to do is put everything behind them and try to be friends. Look, I’m sorry if this is insensitive, but unless Paul himself did the thing Brodie is talking about, unfriending him for life over it is not the right thing to do. We all at times could be better friends and we all wish we had certain things to do over. Holding a grudge based on assumptions based on what people say isn’t going to help in any way. And frankly, I get that some things were said in the video, but I don’t think this cleared the air or is the right way to clear the air.

@@HouseOfMontague1 wait so the other person who has a financial stake with Brodie is supporting he did nothing wrong and that is suppose to matter? Not taking any shots at Hunter but it benefits Hunter and Foundation abosultey zero to disagree with Brodie, in fact it would be incredibly negative if he did. It only makes sense if he supports brodie, they are in this together. I dont follow foundation anymore, I stopped when Zach disappeared and then Paul did, then the channel went a different direction, which is ok, not complaining about it, it's just not what I want to watch. Even Hunter brings up that Brodie changed the direction of the channel and its not what the planned or what Paul was trying to do, but they didn't see that Paul couldn't keep up? Brodie says nothing radically changed in those months leading up, buy from Him and Hunter it seemed the direction went from local to worldwide, Seems pretty radical of a change to me. That being said, since Brodie came to disc golf he has disappeared from news for a long time now, when was the last time he was relevant besides when he was around Paul? Now there is beef and it's all Paul was the problem? Seems convenient that the beef is mentioned a bunch of times pretty quickly after being dormant for so long and, wow, Brodie is in the news again! I'm not saying there isn't beef, I'm not saying Paul wasn't the problem, he very well may be. What I am saying is basing an opinion off of only 1 side is silly, for all you know Brodie could be lying out of his ass, he could also be telling the truth. Personally hearing his story a lot doesn't really add up properly, it fits but feels like a lot is missing. He speaks a lot without actually saying much. He talks about not wanting this drama out there but who made it? Who kept posting it? Who made it public? All him, he doesn't get points for not wanting the drama out there after he built the fire and lit it...

@@Therealyoda34 Yes many times in my life experience you hear someone’s side of the story the way Brodie is doing here, you hear them out and it makes sense and you finally decide you agree with their side and support them. But then, you hear the second person’s extended deeper version of story & you then think oh I didn’t know that part then now your support the second persons story instead! People do a great job of making themselves sound valid when they get to tell you the story the way they want to and make you agree with them. But sometimes also what you realize is both sides are valid. It usually is just communication problems. I think this Hunter guy would go along with Brodie obviously in this video any way and it corroborates nothing. It seems in my opinion Paul was very busy, had too much other stuff happening and didn’t have the time to focus on what the plans and to communicate with Brodie and them on everything. On other hand, Brodie is a social media guy and he automatically thought the idea was to do more of online stuff, but Paul wanted local scene and the two never realized the two ideas would clash like that. I think both people are valid and it’s misunderstanding. Bet they will get over it in a couple years. I think men forget the emotions of the happening after awhile and just want to have fun again and move on pretty quickly. But women I would not say this lol probably would rarely have the ability to move on from it lol. I do wish I was straight but things like this is what makes me happy I am not lol I do not have to deal with that tbh.

But a lot of people disappear from social media for times and then come back. I'm not trying to be rude, you have some very valid points. First of all thank you for putting some light on the issue and even more that you straight up said that some aspects were handled incorrectly!! Appreciate every disc golfer out there and for a pro to come out and literally say "I didn't handle that as I should" is absolutely commendable!! Like I said on the collector page that all things in life will have it's issues and you can either learn or burn!! The Nikko thing has opened up a situation that no one has even connected what many pros have said in the past!! Didn't a LOT of pros say "We need an official to make the calls instead of the players on the card"??? Now that an official makes the call, good or bad, it's a huge ordeal with backlash from thousands!! The decision is who makes the calls, not what happens because of the call. Case by case scenario for punishment will never be correct unless like other sports you have a "certified official" that are connected to the PDGA.. Until then you can't blame Official 1 for calling something Official 2 never would. So the PDGA and all of us members need to seriously contemplate where the sport needs to go and in what division!! My 2 cents

And I agree with what happened to Nikko. One of the things that draws me to disc golf is the overall good vibe and attitude you see among the competitors. I understand the stress and tension that comes along with any professional competition, especially as the sport and prize money continues to grow. But I don't think anyone wants to see bad attitudes or sportsmanship, players exploding after every bad toss, or slamming discs in the ground....... I enjoy the uniqueness disc golf has from other sports and would hate to see it go too far in a negative direction.

Props for speaking publicly about this, takes a lot of guts to come out into the open and try to clear the air about something very personal. Sounds like a common lesson was learned, which a lot of people learn the hard way: do not mix business and friendship. It almost always ends in the end of a friendship. Even if both parties are invested, someone will ultimately feel "more" invested than the other party/parties. On the issue of Nikko, Paul is flat out wrong imo. If disc golf is going to grow as a franchise and be taken seriously as a professional sport, threatening an official or any other player (on or off the course), whether verbally or physically, cannot be tolerated; you can't make that your brand and profit from it. Everyone who pays attention to disc golf knows this isn't an isolated incident too, he uses intimidation commonly as a tactic on and off the course. Thanks for the conversation.

Lessons learned: 1. If you're going into business with someone, where a relocation or a significant $ investment is at play - you get a contract signed that spells out obligations. Brodie had said Kelsey was alone when he wasn't home and how he couldn't train in the off season as much as to why he moved back to Dallas. There was a lot of subtle hints along the way. I think it's fully understandable why he's upset about the whole thing.

At the end of the day I think it's important to get to a point where you can forgive other people who have wronged you, and show love towards them, regardless of whether they are at fault or not. Hardest commandment to keep. Love your enemies and pray and do good to those who despite fully use you. Sounds counterintuitive, but it puts you in a position where both people can be at peace. Despite popular belief, an apology is not required to make the situation right again for both people (it will come, but being angry or ending a relationship will not help. Showing love will and will help the other person come to a point where they will much more likely make the effort to makes things right - this will actually also make things right in the eyes of all those who are witnessing the situation. It's the hardest route to take, but has the best outcome).

Obviously he should have sorted his stuff over a decade ago but let's not forget about all the players, officials and TD's who flat out didn't enforce the rules all these years. I hope he comes back with some harmony and stability to his mental state and I think it will ultimately be good for him but it might be wierd at first to not have that bi-polarish rollercoaster during play and it just might be an addiction to that feeling.

I could be way off base, of course. Because I don't know him personally at all. But I get the feeling Paul doesn't think in a direction outside his immediate scope very well. And that's just a common trait for anyone who has a laser focus. He has the next steps for 5 years or more planned out as it impacts him directly. And so it feels like he either never considered how those directions would impact things like Brodie uprooting his life to move East, or he purposely ignored it because he just flat didn't want to address it until he wanted to address it. Bummer that a little foresight could have salvaged something like this. But also, it seems to be like if it wasn't this thing, it would have been something else down the road. You can be friends if you have two personalities that aren't necessarily on the same wavelength. Personally I don't think the disciplinary board was swayed very much by the reputation of the player but rather the history of a uncontrolled outbursts which in some cases are also code of conduct violations (kicking the mini in anger would equate to throwing any object except the disc in play with anger). Those of us who are a little older and more controlled can see that a serious wakeup call was in order and I myself am a bit frustrated at all the people who have let this slide for so long. For me it all comes down to what is likely to be more effective: 1) a slap on the wrist which essentially means the player takes a forced vacation and simply deflects blame and comes back without working stuff out... or 2) A lengthy consequence forcing the player to look within himself and reach out to get proper help. In theory they could have shaved a few months off the 9 he got but any suspension serious enough to force a personal re-evaluation would almost certainly run the rest of the season. - I hope to see Nikko play well next season and most of all enjoy discgolf with a bit more harmony. Edit: The one way I can agree that Nikko probably feels a bit targeted is due to the fact that courtesy violations are so rarely enforced. Most CVs tend to be forgiven without a violationcall because they are rare single events and the offender shows sincere regret and apologizes and there is support for leniency there simply because "the spirit of the game". In the case of time violations however most of the "forgiveness" is already used up by the time you start clocking someone because you know people don't pull out a stopwatch until after half a dozen obvious time violations.

Ultimately the Disc Golf Network just needs to continue to invest in technology that enables them to get higher quality and more reliable streaming like you would get with a network providing coverage for any other professional sport (yes I know their budget isn't at the level of ESPN / NBC / CBS or whatever, but gotta work up to it and keep improving) OR stop showing live live coverage, and simply go to a delayed model where you get the full coverage with good resolution without parts cut out which is what people want with a certain amount of time delay to put together the broadcast in a truck on site or something. Services are available for simultaneous shooting and parallel source upload that could be fed back to a central location and delay streamed out at perfect quality, or they could invest in really ultra reliable hotspots that are networked together across the course and you put one at every hole or something, or both. You don't have to rely on through the air streaming where of course in wooded areas and places far from a hotspot aren't going to be as good, or whatever exactly it is they're doing cause the video quality is just not good enough as post produced coverage, regardless of what you think about the live product they do. Half the time you can't even see the disc, it's like watching hockey back on old tv's before HD sports where you can't even see the puck.

Let's see some much needed accountability and not play attorney for Nikko. Let him have his reflection time and accept his punishment.

Did it really happen on the 18th hole of the last round right after he just threw out of bounds? (Read that somewhere) if that’s the case nikko was totally justified getting pissed bc you and I know he was prob taking that much time all weekend and getting called out at the last minute is ridiculous. That being said, the way he reacted is not acceptable although it was entertaining, but he should not have been stroked if the circumstances are like I heard.

Exactly. It’s not complicated. That is just the consequences/result of those actions. In most situations that individual gets fired and loses his income

Based on Paul’s $1M/year contract, he needs to focus on Disc Golf, and his charity, the PM foundation. His primary income is from his disc golf sponsors, and being involved with Foundation is a distraction to his main focus, and the money he makes through Foundation is probably pretty minor. Paul basically “made it” in playing Disc Golf, and doesn’t need Brody or Foundation financially. Brody’s main focus and main income is from his RU-vid channel making videos, and he still has to find ways of making money in DG including working on Foundation. He didn’t “make it” by playing disc golf, so he needs these side projects for income. They are both focusing on two different thing. It’s a huge advantage to Foundation to use Paul’s name, and Brody is probably mad that they can’t. Overall they were getting more from Paul than Paul was getting from them, so it wasn’t a fair relationship. It makes sense that Paul bailed, and it’s interesting none of this was brought up.

It wasn't brought up because it's not really important to the story. The main beef is that Paul didn't tell Brodie his intentions prior to Brodie moving his family from their home. Paul knew Brodie was moving. And Paul knew he was going to leave Foundation. The proper thing would have been for Paul to have a conversation with Brodie prior to the move, not after. For the reasons you mentioned, no one would blame Paul for leaving Foundation. But Paul did not behave in the manner you would expect from a good friend.

Its three dunces that still don’t know how to run a business. If you have a GOAT partner, you don’t ever bother him ever except for to send him dividends. These guys are dumb

I’m not a foundation fan. I watched brodies videos long before he got into disc golf. I’m glad he’s joined the sport and brought more eyes on it. I’m rambling to no point. Regardless I still liked the video because I respect this and I respect Brodie for stepping up and clearing the air and admitting his faults. Good on you dude, keep it up.
