[Bronco] Where would water go if it got into the Everglades snorkel?

Some water can pool at the bottom of the external snorkel piece against the fender. Beyond that volume, it may be able to pool a small volume in the internal tube's bottom grooves. Finally, it can pool at and drain out of the bottom of the air box IF it dodges the filter. Some additional sealing beyond factory spec may be desirable, but having a couple stages of pooling to allow evaporation seems at least thoughtful. For intense water crossings where water may come over the hood, though, there are a couple areas to keep an eye on.

Contrary to live observation, right at 5:34 a decent size water droplet can be seen moving in inside tube. It actually looks like the shaping of the pipe in there facilitates another small volume of water being able to settle and not make its way to the air box. Since that drop stopped there and didn't move forward (even though the vehicle was slightly downhill), I think that may be the case. I'd like to go back in there with a flashlight and confirm.

You also have to account for the engine pulling the water toward the intake more so than gravity simply allowing it to run down the tube. I would not silicone the factory drain hole in the airbox.

@@rydfree I agree with the intake doing that pulling. If you anticipate water crossings deeper than the height of that drain hole, though, would you still skip on sealing it? I'm torn.

I picked up a 2023 Everglades and was curious about the snorkel and car washes primarily. I flipped the mesh plate to the back but the solid plate doesn’t fit flush on the front. Also I noticed a hole drilled in the snorkel on the bottom side a little above hood level. I’ll be curious to see if it’s a drain hole and how it performs

Regarding that hole drilled on the bottom side of the snorkel... that is super interesting and new information to me. Would you mind posting a picture of that over in the bronco6g thread? That's at www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/everglades-snorkel-installed-on-2-7l-badlands-bronco-update-completed-water-flow-test-video.69930/ Or share it here in whatever way you might prefer, but I'm very interested to check that out. Congrats on the 2023 Everglades btw! Very cool. And yeah those plates seem to be flexed in a way that they don't sit flush when flipped, which seems kinda silly. I think with the blocking plate on the front, though, it'll block enough water for rainy weather or car wash. If/when I seal off the drainage points, then I'll be more concerned about how that plate fits.

@@pandapaul also I talked to ford and they assured me the vehicle was good to go through car washes with the plates reversed. I’ve taken it through 6 or so car washes with no issues to date
