Da italiano dico che i film di Kitano sono i migliori film di gangster di sempre. Cioè dai... Scarface non regge il confronto! Magari il Padrino già è un altro discorso... anche se i film di Mafia secondo me sono leggermente diversi dai film di gangster!
no, it's a film about one yakuza guy who is essentially exiled from japan meeting up with his younger brother in america and starting a criminal organization in LA
just watched this movie a few minutes ago. for everyone: you guys SHOULD watch this movie, (i think its sort of asian-film noir). Before that i watched Outrage from 2012 first and the prequel from 2010 from the same writer. Will soon watch Sonatine and then after will look at more movies produced by Kitano Takeshi-san. Bravo!
Cool, I apreciate your responses! Thank you! :) Its nice to sometimes be able to actually discuss something without inmediately cursing at each other. One love!
watched the movie Sonatine, didnt expect the movie turned out this way since middle of it till end. Superb movie with sort of funny humor in it that i see in anime's
I had just got this movie over the weekend and I loved it, if you like King of New York, Harsh Times, or anything that has to do with mob or gang movie rent or buy this movie its a good ass movie.
This was supposed to be his break out into the American market and his distributors treated it like they never wanted it to succeed. Kitano was so annoyed by the corruption in Hollywood that he decided not to make another film in the U.S. I love this film but I become upset even thinking about how great it would have been if Brother succeeded and we got more American Kitano pictures.
He did a comedy called "Getting Any?" but be warned, it is one of the most bizarre things you're likely to see. He also did a film called "Kikujiro" which is pretty amusing, but it's kinda his attempt at a family-friendly movie and it really doesnt work somehow. All his others are stunnin watch them at all costs. I know full versions of "Scene at the Sea" and "Kids Return" have been uploaded onto youtube somewhere. Check em out dude... Keep it TK!!!
The worst thing is not many people out of Japan really know about the amazing comedian past-life of the great Takeshi Kitano before he starting to make films
