I bought this rifle two years ago in 6.5 Creedmoor and it my favorite all time deer hunting rifle. Super accurate and it oozes quality. I will never purchase another bolt action rifle. This is the best.
I picked one up in 7-08 on a whim when it was discounted in a local shop. It handles so well that it has become my go too rifle. It is light, comfortable, and a real tack driver. I have a safe full of rifles many that are more expensive and this is the one. I will use my 300 Weatherby for elk or moose, the x-bolt for everything else. I hunt in the Wyoming Bighorn Mountains. On those big climbs the little 7-08 X-bolt is just the ticket for a light handy little rifle. When I know ranges are reasonable. With good bullets Elk within 300 yards are perfectly reasonable for that little rifle. The recoil is so reasonable the target never leaves the sight in that first shot, making a follow up shot quick and easy if ever needed.
I wasn’t too keen on the XBolt when it was initially debuted. The “Euro” designed stock was just plain ugly. Fast forward several years, my oldest son wanted a rifle for Xmas. He “hinted” that he wanted an XBolt. Against my better judgment, I picked him up a composite Stalker in 30-06. The very first range session with it made me a convert. Everything we stuffed into it, factory and handloads resulted in sub moa bug holes! Truly unbelievable a factory rifle that light, with a barrel contour that skinny shoots that good.
Get him the 243 youth model. It’s a little shorter and easier to handle. It has almost no kick but tons of power. Drops every deer in its tracks. The one I have was my grandfathers and now its been passed on to me.
Great Rifle!!! Mine is in 6.5 Creedmore and it's a tack driver. I did pick up a very nice Leupold Scope where I can see very clear at long ranges, and pick up my cross hairs nicely. I think you and your grandson will be very impressed.
Agreed sir. The X-Bolt is a bargain. Great rifle for the money, without a doubt. Not to mention the X-Bolt White Gold Medallion is one of the most beautiful rifles I have ever laid eyes on
You should see the white medallion with a maple stock. www.browning.com/content/browning/en/products/firearms/rifles/x-bolt/limited-availability/x-bolt-wgm-maple.html
Appreciate the info and expertise in this and your other vids! I have an even cheaper version - a gray synthetic stocked 280 Rem. Like yours, it shoots sub MOA. And I agree with all your points. I added a 1/2" walnut spacer to increase the LOP by 1/2 inch -- which was simple compared to trying to do the same with other synthetic stocks. And I found that the synthetic stock material used is thicker -- like 2 or 3 times thicker - than other synthetic stocks. Solid, quiet, glass bedded stock. They also added slight, internal shoulder/indentation to the magazine to keep rounds from hitting the front of the magazine under recoil. They really paid attention to detail with this gun.. Thanks again!
Years ago I worked the gun bar at Academy, and we had an x bolt in 7/08 and I fell in love with that gun,but unfortunately couldn't afford it at the time.I felt like it would be the perfect whitetail rifle here in Northeast Georgia.I loved how the gun felt in my hand when carried at the magazine. The stock is so smooth and rounded there,it just felt perfect, and the overall weight and balance was perfect.Im now in a position to buy another rifle and have been thinking about getting one of these. Thanks for the video and story of this fine rifle.
Great vid brother! I have a Browning X-bolt in the black composite finish. Really grips to your hands. got mine in .300 win mag. I agree with every single statement about the xbolts. amazing quality and a sub moa shooter. I got mine zero'd in at 100 yards and i can clover leaf 3 shot groups. Again great job and following you for more reviews and tips!. Cheers from Newfoundland Canada!
Getting one tomorrow. 1200 cad in 308, with a bushnell elite on it, great review sir!! You sold me. You definatly know what your talking about. Thanks for your time!!!
This guy says the truth about Browning x bolt. I have my x bolt on a .308 Win. And i really fell in love once i see it on RU-vid channel. I have few deer and few hogs drop in it's tracks. Very happy. Very good quality. I couldn't say enough. I love it. Thanks
Love the X-Bolt. I've killed a lot of animals with my 30-06: from prairie dogs up to elk. Shoots just about every bullet you put in it. He didn't talk about the action much, but it is amazingly smooth and consistent with these rifles (at least with mine). A couple of years ago I was in a situation where I had to rattle off two shots back to back on an elk (adrenaline trumped decision-making skills). Within my last hours of elk hunting season, I jumped a couple of bulls. As they ran away from me, I put one in the rear hawk, then, without missing a beat, as the first shot spun him around, I put a second shot in the boiler room. I was able to place another in the boiler room as he passed through a small window in the trees about a second later. This is all off hand, from a mediocre shooter. I don't recommend doing that sort of thing, but the point is, it's just not possible to do that with a lesser rifle, trust me. The kick is just right to keep you on target and the bullets feed so smoothly it might as well be called a semiautomatic. Again, really stupid decision, I'm thankful Browning made a tool that could pull off the job.
Yes sir love my X-Bolt Stalker Long Range 30-06. My furthest kills are 253 yards, 262 yards, 340 yards, 370 yards and 387 yards. This is so far In the 3 years I've owned the rifle.
Really enjoyed the review, like I said yesterday I love my X bolt in 308. This will be my fourth deer season using it. Mine has been very accurate and I just shoot Remington 150 gr. core lokt psp. Couldn't be happier with a rifle and the great thing about it is that it was a Christmas gift from my boss.
@@carlreynolds1111 I shot a mule deer at 315 yards in New Mexico. Where I hunt at home in south central Alabama most of my shots are 200 yds in. My rifle has been very accurate and I don't use expensive ammo. It is zeroed for 200 yds.
I want a Winchester Model 70 Sporter so bad. 30.06 will be the caliber. I made my final decision on both based on your videos. Keep making the awesome videos.
I just ordered a Browning X Bolt Micro in 7mm 08 left hand. I previously had a A Bolt Medallion left hand in .270 and I loved that gun. It was a tough decision with so many great options on the market right now but I really missed my Browning. I can't wait to use it for whitetail hunting here in PA.
Reasons to love the X-Bolt: *Extemely accurate factory barrel *Detachable magazine *60 degree bolt throw *Bolt lock release button *Factory glass bedded *Free floated barrel ❤ my X-Bolt Stalker Long Range 30-06!
I have the A-bolt II Stainless Stalker in 7mm Rem Mag. I'd love to have the same rifle in 7mm-08 but I might do the X-Bolt since I can't find one. Unreal accuracy if you do you part and serious elk medicine for sure.
@@SultanofSpey i got w browning x bolt 375 h&h i used to have a browning BAR chambered in 300 win mag gave it to my brother and he then sold it for cheap
Buying one in 300wm of my uncle today for 1000 canadian maybe shot one box of rounds out of it and it's topped with a vortex 3x9x50 crossfire 2 but man it always sucks when you try give a friend or family member something and they don't realize the value behind it
I have 7mm mag also. Very accurate and balanced incredible. only gripe is the laminate finish Is soft nics very easily. Not a great bush rifle for durability on the stock finish..
I agree. Browning x bolt is a fine rifle. You said you didnt really like the abolt but I'm a fan of the abolt II. Browning is my favorite firearms manufacturer. Good video
Beautiful rifle. Beautiful scope. Any monolithic bullet featuring relief grooves begs to have a Lee Factory Crimp applied to the mouth in each groove for testing. Typically, each COAL will be accurate but one will be outstanding. However sometimes the longest one won't chamber. No problem. Just reseat to the next groove. Great review on a fine rifle. May have to pick one up! Thanks!
I have a Browning in 30 06 same mod. you have . I have not been able to find any thing I don't like about it. The only thing that I found a little bothersome was the bolt knob. With the short throw smooth action on this rifle. It was tuff to grip well. My answer was black surgical tubing. Huge difference i do love every thing about this rifle now. Great review as always. Good luck and good hunting.
The X-bolt Browning Rifle is the best designed and constructed firearm by far in my opinion. Congratulations on your review and wise purchase decision.
I couldn't agree more with you about quality of Browning xbolts, own a medallion in 300wm, a hells canyon LR in 6.5 creed, never an issue with them, also own a blr in 300 wm and a bar mk2, all I can say is very satisfied with the quality and reliability of all of them and not done yet buying Browning, lol, great videos, keep them coming
You’ve sold me. I’m a browning fan ever since my first little Belgian made 22 semi auto to My Ab3 and most recently my 68BAR. I wanted to get 7 mm round mag and an older model 70 or 300 WinMag in a model 70 or a savage but an older one try to get something with some history but I just think the best bet would be to get maybe even one of the Hells Canyon X bolts
Browning has become my favorite gun, I have 4 now. Imo just as good as a Weatherby for 1/2 the price. Safest bolt system I've ever seen when unloading a loaded gun.
Just bagged a 4 point mulie with my X-Bolt All Weather Stainless in 7mm-08 with 120 gr. TTSX factory ammo. Shoots .39 moa with a 2 lb trigger. Tack driver!
Excellent rifles. Didn’t play with mine much and it didn’t shoot 150 gr Ballistic tips from a .308 like I was hoping. Bought mine when they were on clearance at F&S before they sold to Sportsmans warehouse. After rebate I had $475 into it. Should’ve bought the .243 and .270 that were on the shelf too
I have the X-bolt Medallion in .308 and I love it. I have a Redfield Revolution 3x9x40 on it and it's crazy accurate with the Winchester Super X Power Point 150 grain.
I think I might get an xbolt cambered in 300 win mag. And maybe a 375 h&h in a Winchester model 70. Thanks for the honest review I wish you talked about the cons of that rifle too but that’s fine your videos are awesome
I had a gunsmith tell me my Ab3 the budget model of the x-bolt Line tell me that it was bedded exceptionally well for even a high-end rifle. Was surprised to see a rifle at that price range having had that attention to detail and careful craftsmanship. It was the Woodstock line though
Fabulous review, brother.. I just put a down-payment on one today. I was looking for a tika t3 but picked this instead... i'm happy I went with this one.
I have two X-Bolts in .30-06, one is the FLD and the other is a Composite Hunter. The FLD I bought new and topped it off with a Swarovski Z5 3.5-18X44 P BT and the Stalker with a Zeiss V4 4-16X44 BT. The accuracy of the X-Bolt is so amazing I also bought the T-Bolt in .22WMR and topped this one off with a Swarovski Z3 3-10X42 out to about 150yds the T-Bolt does not disappoint. I chose the .30-06 due to the variety of bullet weights and available of ammo.
I just picked up a Stainless Stalker in 300 H&H, and I’m going to put it into a laminate GRS Sporter Riflestock. This rig is going to freak out the guys with the 300 WinMag‘s at the range lol
Have you ever got ahold of the Xbolt pro line? On of my favorite guns to shoot. Cant ever go wrong with an Xbolt have 3 and will always have browning in the gun safe!
In the last couple of months, I’ve bought both an X-bolt hunter (.22-250) and a Model 70 Super Grade (.280). I wanted a lighter and more Carry-able .22-250. I have to say, I am very happy with both. But, for what it cost compared to the model 70, the X-bolt really blows me away. It’s been extremely accurate, and shoots everything from 40 to 62 grains equally well. I’d been thinking about the Vanguard in .25-06, but I’m definitely going with the X-bolt instead.
I have one in .270 that I got for 399 after a 100 dollar rebate from browning, it came with a synthetic gray stock. I found an online retailer that sells the walnut stocks from browning for 360 . Thinking of picking one up so I can have a more visually appealing rifle.
I would say Mauser 98 is probably the finest and highest quality made today in Germany but very pricey to say the least. The Xbolt is not bad for what it is although I'm not a huge fan of the reoil lug on it as opposed to the Winchester model 70's, Ruger M77, or Weatherby MarkV where the recoil lug is part of the receiver. I will admit the Xbolt Medallion is pretty good looking gun.
We all have our American Pride and we should. However, the amount of attention to detail Japanese culture puts into the packaging of an item alone is mind blowing. The item inside you can bet was crafted with even more care and precision. Each person is held accountable and you can bet sending out faulty items comes with pretty harsh repercussions. I worked for a Polysilicon manufacturer here in the United States that was part owned by Komatsu. Cleanliness and attention to detail were of utmost significance and importance in every operation performed. Percieved image by the world, toward the Japanese culture, is extremely important and drives everything they do. It's embedded in to them from a very young age. They are very self conscious of their image at first glance, it will stick with you once you interact with them on a professional level.
Anyone who has ever bought musical instruments, motorcycles, or outboard motors knows Japanese products are par or better than USA ones. Finding out the X Bolt is now made in Japan made me buy one today. Hunter 30-06 with a Leupold VX3 on it.
What brand and height rings did you use to mount the scope? I am thinking of mounting a 40mm scope instead of a 50mm like you have. Thank you for your awesome videos. It is really great having content from an experienced hunters point of view rather than a long range target shooter like most videos out there.
