I did the Bruce Lee ab challenge, which is what I call it, for 2 months. He was said to do over a thousand repetitions for his abdominals every day. Back in the day I was 16 or 17 when I did this workout regime and this is my honest review about it.

Hey man I envy your waist size and abs. I was a Bruce Lee freak when I was in high school. My drama teacher was so impressed with my dedication to training that he gave me space in the drama lecture room to train in. Those were the days!!

A new subscriber. Saw your vegan video and commented. About 1000 abs daily. I grew up in gymnastics from age 4 through age 18. 1000 abs reps a day is not hard IF you spend them out throughout the day. I'm Ukraine born and adopted and came to US by age 6. I was into abs workouts before then as boys in orphanage made us do these (in gymnastics "factory"). When I came US I was under stress and English was hard. And rural US was anti-immigrant. And I did lots of abs exercises for stress. As I got older I worked abs daily but throughout the day--not 1000 all at once unless an abs competition (wrestlers hosted a sit up challenge once as fundraiser). Abs are amazing muscles. Contrary to what many people say abdominal muscles fibers lean toward slow-twitch fibers predominantly. We use abdominals muscles all the time. And this is why we can do high rep abs workouts whereas we don't do high rep triceps or quad workouts. And abs recover very quickly for more work (unlike biceps for example). But yes 1000 abs reps a day is not hard--if you're young maybe. I turn age 20 next Thursday and have worked my abs most days far back as I can remember. Things changed for me after I got beat up at age 16 and I wanted to add more muscle overall--especially getting much bigger quads. Wrestlers helped me learn to lift weights and my abs workouts shifted to heavy resistance abs training. My abs reps came down big time as did frequency. I fell in love (eventually) with heavy weighted RC sit ups, cable crunches, hanging knee raises with weight belt and plate on thighs, etc. From age 17 to the present I occasionally will do high rep abs workouts, but mostly I try to do heavy abs. But doing 1000 abs reps in one workout a day does seem something not helpful (for all the reasons you give) and not the best way to build abs. In gymnastics we did what worked functionally with our abs training. My abs requirements changed after I got beat up (they targeted my 8 pack--what they called gymnast abs). I lasted but at a high price. Anton

everything in moderation i think is best, and 1 or 2 days a week exert yourself to point it is sore day after and then recover n repeat after all appearance of abs is more down to diet than this i guess this just boosts the core strength

I think the everyday training was for Bruce or any other athlete to maintain a very very high level of stamina, so it wouldn't work any better for most of us, who are pursuing some muscle gain and lean body mass.

Jeremy your info is on point it falls in line with Zabo, an old-school bodybuilder from the 40s and 50s who had deep Cuts in his abs. he worked at Gold's Gym and was the inspiration to Arnold and Frank Zane and supposedly did up to 1000 Roman chair sit-ups daily. I'll tell you guys what: I'm 50 and I actually have visible abs, BUT they can be better, I think I'm going to start some kind of daily AB training and post an update to my channel. Great conversation!

That’s incredible, you’re like Captain America. With better hair. I think 2-5 hundred crunches a day is more normal. 1000 is for masochists.
