Train like an athlete...workout like Bruce Lee here!
athleanx.com/x/train-like-bruc...
Perhaps nobody symbolizes the word athlete more than Bruce Lee. With his legendary workout routines and feats of strength, Bruce Lee has become an inspirational workout icon and someone we all can learn how to workout from. In this video, I'm going to cover the 5 main principles of Bruce Lee's workout and diet routine as well as show you some of his favorite exercises.
The first principle of Bruce Lee workouts was using muscle tension to your advantage. With total body tension, Lee was able to create more core and abs stability which allowed him to be more powerful from head to toe. Perhaps his most amazing display of this was his fingertip pushups (shown in this video).
Next, the iso tension principle was one he incorporated after completing a set of an exercise. For example, following his finger tip pushups, Bruce Lee would attempt to contract all of the muscles involved in that exercise in order to extend the time under tension and develop mind muscle control. The ideal time to use this is for 10 seconds after completing a set, and it's exactly where he included this in his weightlifting routine.
Third, Lee believed that you should never attempt to lift a weight that you couldn't actually lift with your own muscles. Momentum is not the fastest way to building more ripped muscle. He proved this with his barbell curl and launch exercise where he was able to show off his strength and control in his workout routine.
Next, we can't talk about a Bruce Lee workout without mentioning his ab workout. Known for his dragon flag exercise, Bruce Lee used this demanding core exercise to carve out ripped six pack abs. If you want your own set of Bruce Lee six pack abs though, you're going to have to start training your core more often...daily. I'll show you how to build up to the dragon flag even if you aren't able to hold one right now.
Finally, no Bruce Lee workout video is complete without addressing what he felt was one of the most important workout principles...recovery. He believed that you grew away from the gym and not in it. With attention to a good diet, proper sleep, protein supplementation and rest days...Bruce Lee was able to accelerate his muscle growth and stay ripped year round.
If you want to start training like the ultimate athlete, then you should head to athleanx.com/x/train-like-bruc... and get the workout program being used by today's top professional athletes (and guys that want to look and move like them)

People who complain about this guy talking a lot don't realize that he's explaining the science behind his rationale. Anyone who has a background in human anatomy and neuromuscular exercise physiology will know that what Jeff is saying is scientifically accurate (backed up by studies conducted in controlled lab settings). Then again if you don't like to be educated about your workouts then go back to watching your Jeff Seid videos.

Don't forget that Bruce Lee also believed in controlling your body energy. He didn't see Chi as a magic missile or a book of matches. He saw it as an internal generator. He saw it as a source of power that supersedes his physical abilities. It was his warrior's spirit. When he hit someone or something, he wasn't aiming at the object, he was aiming for the wall behind it. When he kicks you, he wants to blast you away, not make you snap in half and die, though he can do both very easily. How'd he do it? He meditated. He focused on his breath. When trivial things came across his mind, he would breath deeply and set the thoughts aside. This allowed him to find peace of mind, and achieve higher levels of thinking. You want to be a warrior? You want to win a fight against someone stronger and more experienced than you? You've got to outsmart them, catch them off guard, strike with precision, show a copious amount of insight, and you can't do that with a clouded mind. "It's the punch you didn't see that knocked you out."

Bruce Lee never talk meditating and his breath lol he talked about property alignment and repeating a movement numerous times. And being in physical shape he never talk about meditating. I like how people act like Bruce Lee knew everything he didn't. And he was a gifted athlete that was taught and self learned. Not someone who knew or could do everything.

I am not an martial artist , but I would like to give more information on how I view "totally relax". If you hold a cup of water totally relaxed , you are still using force , if no force is applied , then there will be no motion. Therefore , on the body level , "totally relax" means to use the right amount of energy , not too much , not too few , just the right amount. This is actually a concept of taoist of "middlelism?" (I don't know how to translate that") , balancing the Yin and Yang. Same goes to the mind , if you are too Ying (relaxed) , then you might fall asleep or lose focus , if you are too Yang (concentrated) , then you might stress yourself out.

Well it's kind of harder to do that when you aren't leveraging liek over 135 lbs. That is why female athletes can sometimes do obstacle courses better and do lifting exercises and climbing exercises even if they are technically weaker. Makes sense from a physics point of view. It might be a bad thing to try if you're gonna try to put 170 lbs or more on a finger.

Efrain Vazquez They're the best for the entire core. Keep in mind, core isn't just the abs, it is obliques and back as well!
@lpilgrim1
@lpilgrim1 10 лет назад
Edlus Entient Agreed. In addition, there are core muscles beneath the abs and back muscles too... balance exercises help to keep them engaged all the time and your lower spine is supported by these so they are very important. I know this because I've had back issues now improved from getting good advice. For example, instead of just dumbell press... now I do it with an exercise ball between my shoulder blades to balance during... it engages my core. Add this idea to many routines to add that extra core engagement. Love this channel by the way... great exchange of ideas.

Seeing an old Jeff video feels so wholesome. I never thought about how he started but now I see a simple white board. No huge gym and good edits even the audio is bad. How far this channel has gone.

I really do appreciate the wealth of information I've gotten just from the free Athlean-X vids. After watching a few vids I decided to tone down the speed of my workouts after they addressed time under tension vs explosive workouts. Best shite ever. I'm sore, dead, and I love it. Keep it up.
@SpandanChatterjee2904
@SpandanChatterjee2904 8 лет назад
what is "time under tension vs explosive"? What is better?
@colincolin7237
@colincolin7237 8 лет назад
+Spawndon time under tension is basically how long you actively use a muscle during a movement. an example of explosive movement would be clap ups(clapping push ups). A more controlled version of a push up (slow and focused) would yield more time under tension. neither is necessarily better as each has its place in a fitness routine. I'm not the best at explanations since I'm no fitness expert lol.

I see this video has a lot of dislikes. I , however , agree with Bruce lee's techniques. Not all are mentally strong and so Bruce lee's training is not for all. In other words there are more weak minded people so heavier weight is a substance that is needed to make up for the weak minded. You sir on this video look all natural!

Actually, bruce lee did 2 finger, 1 arm pushups. There is even a video of him giving a demonstration. Id love to see someone do that. It's not easy. He did these with perfect form.
@bigconan
@bigconan 10 лет назад
If you watch Bruce do these, his form is unreal. he goes all the way down, with just one hand on 2 fingers.
@mrdrprofessorGAMER
@mrdrprofessorGAMER 10 лет назад
He also did 1 arm pull ups, not chin ups, pull ups!! And he'd keep his whole body straight at the same time while only moving his left arm lol, not even his right arm, it was his left arm that he did it with.
@bigconan
@bigconan 10 лет назад
I've heard about those. Any videos of him doing them?
@mrdrprofessorGAMER
@mrdrprofessorGAMER 10 лет назад
Well the source is actually Chuck Norris, there was a documentary on him and Chuck said that he trained with Bruce for hours every day, and he always saw him doing 1 arm pull ups. Now if that is not good enough of proof to you, think of it this way, type in 1 arm pull ups on youtube you'll get some people doing them. Take the idea that these guys who are much bigger than Bruce can do them and put the fact that Bruce Curled 115 Kilos in his workouts. Bruce has balanced for 30 seconds while doing the Dragon Flag and done 50 reps of this. Using only his shoulders as his strength to keep gravity from pulling his legs down.
@bigconan
@bigconan 10 лет назад
I never doubted he could do it. If he can do 2 finger, one arm pushups with perfect form, he can most certainly do 1 arm pull ups.
