One of Dan Lok’s passions in life is martial arts. Like many young kids, after watching a Bruce Lee movie, it changed his life forever. At 17 years old, Dan started training in martial arts seriously because he was being bullied in school. It wasn’t long for Dan to learn the techniques he needed, and gain the confidence necessary to defend himself.
Dan has studied with legendary martial artist such as Bruce Lee’s original student Ted Wong (tedwongjkd.net) and Joe Lewis “The Worlds Greatest Fighter” (joelewisassociation.com), making him a second generation student of Bruce Lee - in Bruce Lee's authentic art of Jeet Kune Do (JKD). He's also a third generation student of Ip Man (Wing Chun Kung Fu).
Dan has also trained with other great instructors like Sifu Adam Chan (www.pragmaticmartialarts.com), Canadian lightweight boxing champion Tony "Fire Kid" Pep ( / pepboxing , and Octavio Quintero (www.theartofjkd.com)
For Dan, martial arts training permeates every area of life. It’s not a hobby, it’s a way of life, and it influences how he does business.
Martial arts gave him the confidence, focus, and patience to push through these obstacles and to keep fighting when he felt like giving up.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Dan is NOT a full-time martial artist and he doesn't even claim to be that good of a fighter.

Mr.Lok, fighting is spontaneous not rehearsed. I’d like to see you upload a video of yourself showing the true evidence of your martial arts being put to the test against a resisting opponent. You can do all the drills, “stand still techniques” and demonstrations all day and appear to look good but do you yourself know for an actual fact that it does work against a resisting opponent? If you are unwilling to upload a video of yourself sparring against a well experienced martial artist then I’d like to spar with you.

Rather than pinning the attacker’s hand I think I’d strike right away to face/jaw. His momentum and intent is still in his right hook. But it is good to brainstorm options. Also, if you pin that hand, then immediately you could either palm strike his face or even roll to an elbow attack while you are still pinning the hand.

Hi, Dan thanx for sharing your other interests, the principle is very much the same as in life, just like, when somebody tries to put you down, (saying bad comments on you, trash talking)but what important is how to defend yourself. Dan have you seen some fights of Manny Pacquaio our famous world boxing champion in real life use of that techniques..against Lucas Mathysse, I'll bet you'll enjoy it.

I love your videos. But I’ve never seen you fight or spar. Most other RU-vidrs put videos out of them sparring and 100% of the time they revert to traditional street fighting. JKD and Wing Chun are beautiful to watch and I absolutely love Octavio as he resembles Bruce as closely as I’ve ever seen. But it’s discouraging that I’ve never seen JKD applied successfully in a sparring situation. I understand how Wing Chun would be impossible to apply effectively against a real fighter, but as for JKD, with Octavio’s spacing, speed and leg work I would imagine he could have success. Please 🙏🏼 post a video of you in a real fight. As a martial artist you know what I’m talking about.

Good video. I didn't like the techniqe at around 6:10. I get you gotta close the gap but that seems like a vunerable position plus if it's a hook he still might pop you in back on the head and knock you out. Plus if he is faster with his out her punch you just gave him your face unless your punch is faster of coarse but leaves to much to chance to me. But again it's just a drill just not my style of what I want in my toolbox. You not gonna have them gloves in reality. Steel sharpens Steel.
