Sharon Shannon has this wonderful way of driving the rhythm wherever she goes. You can almost hear that beautiful grin of hers.

It's lovely to see her smile in every session she plays.

Of all the many versions, this is probably the finest, and of course, given the musicians, it couldn't be anyhting else...

This is, without question, my all time favorite Irish trad tune. I play along to this video so much - I have to do it when my family is not around. I love it; them, not so much.

tom Scotland - a long time ago I stumbled upon your videos and a life-long obsession began. Last night Transatlantic Sessions came to New York for the first time. I lived my dream being there. it was as spectacular as you'd think. thank you for being the catalyst with your sharing. life changing! life improvement!

Thanks for your comment. I too have seen the Transatlantic Sessions - these sessions are held every year as part of a Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow, Scotland. It's a great mix of Scottish, Irish and American folk music. Long may they continue!

Russ Barenburg on guitar -- this tune is so much fun! Also called "Ruby with the Eyes that Sparkle" in Cold Mountain. Guess they figured the Pig's Foot name wasn't commercial enough :)

Much of American music comes out of this tradition. Folk, Country Western, Bluegrass, Gospel Music etc.

wonderful. I love real music played by real people. I'm certain that if I were sitting in this room it would sound even better; not completely different live like the technologic music created mostly today.

Check Mark Knopfler's Oklahoma Ponies. He used this meldoy but wrote lyrics to it. It's great

Great tune . . but whats best about it is it's played at a steady pace. A lot of old time tunes (in my humble opinion),are played too quickly.

Phil's actually playing a Cittern, very similar to and Irish Bouzouki, but not quite.

Excellent. Just pick up your instrument and play along. Feels great. Everyone should learn to play this. At this speed. Music doesn't have to be complex to feel good.

Not worth arguing about 3 or 4 beats/minute either way . .
@AndrewZinn

eh. its played pretty much about the right speed. think saying the phrase "shove that pig's foot further in the bed"... that's about the speed you should be playing this one... at least that's where I've heard it played... if anything this may be a touch slow
