My personal take: Bruce knew that criminals will not take batman seriously after realizing that he is just a guy in a bat-suit, because batman can not do what he does if everyone knows who he is. so he fakes his death and comes back as full-time batman (with fear toxin) to make people think that Bruce Wayne was not the real batman after all.
@@CYBERUS212 after which the manor explodes, faking his death. Since the Batman continues to prowl the streets, everyone can only assume that Bruce Wayne wasn’t Batman.
@@logann.5355 id just assume he faked his death like how is there any other possible way.... im not arguing lol im just trying to imagine myself without the knowledge of a person playing the game
Here's what I think; when Wayne Manor blows up, people think Batman died. Since his identity was revealed, they know he's only human, and they think a villain blew him up. When Batman seemingly returns back from the dead as a flaming bat demon (due to the fear toxin), criminals would be even more scared of him since they would think he literally came back from the dead and became supernatural and truly unstoppable.
@@CYBERUS212 what i think is that the general public never knew that Batman was just a human, they probably thought of him as an entity. So when bruce was unmasked, it was probably a letdown for the public to think that Batman was just a human. After bruce died, and Batman is still roaming around, the general public will probably think it was just a cover up and someone used bruce Wayne as a scapegoat.
Starting off as a young, hotheaded, ambitious and militaristic Batman in origins and seeing this man develop into the calm, concise, and calculated vigilante we see in the later games; only for that militaristic brutal side to rear its ugly head one last time in knight, was such a treat of storytelling. These games are a single experience meant to be played in order and when they’re played in this way they hit so much harder
I just can't imagine Bruce ever doing this. I always pictured the Batman Beyond route making more sense where Bruce fights till he literally physically can't anymore or is killed.
Even in scenarios where the knightfall protocol happens, he isnt actually dead. He just makes it seem like he is. So that he can continue being batman, but now with it being far more difficult to actually find out who batman is. I would honestly like a story where batman did die though, and hope gotham knights doesnt just bring him back out of nowhere
@@sportstalkthevibe4244 yeah and in between this and Arkham City apparently Deadshot got scorched by the sun and spent a year in Compton. Something to ponder…..

If you look to the right at @1:47 you’ll see the calendar man one of Arkham Batman’s fist villains he caught. In Arkham city he mentions “I was there for your beginning, I will be there for you end.”
I love the demon bat ending :D He is so powerfull that in the end he became an entity of justice, like the batman who laughs his last from, but not as a villian tho :) That would be badass, as a last game.

I wish that the makers of this series would make another batman Arkham game one last time so that batman may finally get the ending he and his comrades deserve
Honestly The Arkham kinght Ending is The Perfect ending for The Arkham Series. As you know they Can’t kill the Batman. So they Show the Bruce Wayne is the Batman. And also Depicted the True Nature of Bruce how he became batman and his Darkness after the Death of His parents . Alongside what will happen if joker takes control over his mind . So from storytelling it’s a perfect ending for Both Joker And Batman . At Least for me . Yes you cand debate about the tank Fights in the game but there done well . overall Grate Game . And For The Future Games By Rocksteady. I would love to see Superman game in Similar Fashion like Arkham Series. if they make another Batman Game i am up for it. Otherwise i and good with new takes on More Dc Characters by Rocksteady
This game is not tied in tot he Arkham series. Or that universe. As weird as it is the suicide squad game is the one that’s tied in to the Arkham series.
@@eze2k10 I will never understand their decision. I mean Knights looks more Arkham continuing of the story than Suicide Squad to me. Even in Arkham Knight he made protocol that fakes his death. It makes more sense to continue with knights. But well, need to wait and see for the story of games.
They didnt die, it was just a plot to "end batman" in the eyes of the people cuz everyone had known who batman is so they probably wouldn't be as afraid of him as they would not knowing who or what the batman is
I think that it has nothing to do with fear toxin, It's just a stylized cinematic to show what the criminals see now. A legend. Since the batman supposedly dead, his existence is constantly being questioned like a legend. Spreads fear to every criminal in gotham.
That's another way to think about it. You can't kill a symbol. Only make the bearer a martyr. When the person is dead, the legend can no longer be tarnished.
the one reason i love and will continue to love batman, the games movies everything. Bruce, we've been with him from the start (not literally but figuratively) we stared in awe as his parents were gunned down, we watched played, cheered him on as he became Batman we helped him even, thru solving puzzles directing his movements. its a connection i just love, we know his weaknesses , pain , what drives him who is behind the cowl no matter what, theres no media where Batman is involved and we DOnT know its Bruce ( none that ive seen at least) and takes the hits, bullets explosions and manages to save a city that doesnt want to be saved cause Gotham somehow alWAys has some crime lord or criminal somewhere. and Batman doesnt kill them but hes always there to stop them. In short, i love Batman
THANK YOU KEVIN CONROY FOR EVERYTHING YOU ARE, WERE AND WILL BE THE BATMAN FOR ALL OF US. YOU DID NOT DIE, YOU ONLY BECAME SOMETHING GREATER, YOU BECAME A LEGEND
No, he quit because he knew that if the Criminals knew that the guy in a Bat Suit is just some Billionaire, they wouldn't take him as seriously, as they did before. And they also would be able to attack him anytime, anywhere - limiting completely his Personal Life.
@@rvt_jimz9573 That's like the dumbest comparision you could make. "He also a Billionaire." Aha, and was anyone ever scared of the Iron Man ? No. No one is scared of Tony Stark. They just know and treat him as just another Superhero. And even when his Identity was a Secret, people still weren't afraid of him. On the scale of taking Iron Man seriously, the common criminals treat him just like another [flying dude in a suit]. The whole point of the Batman's Secret Identity, is that the Thugs are afraid of just an idea that there is someone dedicated enough to fight for Gotham every Night. The fact alone that they don't know who he is, is why they are scared of him. If they knew that he is just some random Billionaire, they wouldn't take him as seriously as they did before. Being a Billionaire has nothing to do with this. And on the point of the Private Life - Bruce has his own, and then he has the Mask. While Stark's Private Life is being the Iron Man 24/7. Only the entire point of the Batman, is that the Thugs and Criminals are afraid of him. That's the point - Batman strikes fear into the Scum's Minds. Batman exists to strike fear into the Common Thugs, the Criminals, and etc. While Stark fights only Super-Villains and World-Ending Threats. The common thugs are left to lesser Heroes, such as the Iron Fist, etc. So next time do actually think something through, mr Emote...
@@TheCursedCat1927 lol so u saying the point being superheroes is to make hte villain afraid?? if the villain not afraid then you quit superhero? 🤣🤣🤣, look that only lame excuse. @@rvt_jimz9573 well, it's Batman's modus operandi. In Batman Begins there is a great quote: "As Bruce Wayne i can be destroyed, ignored, but as a symbol - I can be everlasting". The purpose was for criminals to think that Batman is not just a guy in a suit, but something worse. And people are afraid of things they don't know. That's the most primal fear there is. So thing is not beat the crap out of criminals. It's to make them scared of thinking of perpetraing a crime because the bat is watching and when he gets them, there is no escape.
That explosion from mansion doesn't mean that batman is dead. He might have done it himself to protect identities of, NW, R, BW. I I'm 90% certain that we will see him in the next game, I'm hyped on this 😎😎😎
It’s been years since this has happened I don’t know if Rocksteady has confirmed it, but The Batman isn’t dead. I’ve been wrong so if I am I’m willing to accept it. W game.
It's unclear whether he's alive, or if he's dead and the Nightmare Batman was someone else. Could actually be Azrael, seeing as he tried to replace Batman. And the method of using a Fear Gas and Fire fits Azrael both in the Game and in the Comics (his Bat Suit in the Comics has build-in Fire Cannons). If you are talking about the "Gotham Knights" then have in mind that it's NOT a Continuation to the "Arkham" Games and is set in a different Universe. It's also based on the "Court of Owls" Storyline from the Comics, which is why people assume that he isn't actually dead.
@@TheCursedCat1927 It's absolutely not Azrael. He's either in prison, or busy dismantling the Order of Saint Dumas. Besides, it was the Order brainwashing him to become batman, he doesn't actually want to be Batman. I don't know why people assume somebody is using fear toxin and assuming the role of Batman. It's pretty obvious that there is no Batman, and that the thing is a hallucination caused by lingering fear toxin side effects, something that was built up throughout the game.
@@captaincaptain2128 I gave Azrael as just an example - I don't actually think it's him. And the reason people think that there actually is someone, is because we are told that Ivy's Plant pretty much cleared out the Gas completely.
@@TheCursedCat1927 I know ivy's plant cleared the gas, but it's established on multiple occasions throughout the game that there are lingering side effects due to exposure to the gas. Batman lives on as a legend, and anytime the criminals commit crimes, they see the fear version of him because they still fear him. That's how Batman lives on. Remember, Crane was using a new type of fear toxin, and when you're on Staggs ship, they make mention of lingering side effects multiple times. We also see the lingering side effects in several characters. Also remember, the only people exposed to the toxin were criminals. It's spelled out pretty clear, although I've also played the game to completion dozens of times, so I've memorized pretty much the entire game. Of course, the game doesn't definitively give an answer, but it's heavily implied through all the clues throughout the game, and none of the other theories make any sense.
Batman didn’t die. Batman didn’t quit. Instead, Batman hung up the name Bruce Wayne. Ppl don’t no that Bruce Wayne did with his parents, and that from his ashes, the Batman was born. Batman is not a mask for Bruce Wayne. Bruce Wayne is a mask for Batman. Doing what just happened now allows Batman 2 work his job full time without having 2 worry abt the board meetings and all that shit. Batman freed himself by doing that. The ending just shows Batman using modified fear toxin on criminals
No one actually knows what the Ending actually shows, because to this date Rocksteady still didn't say if Batman actually died in that Explosion, or if he didn't.
@@spider-man8112 You do realize that the way that Ending is made, it is only suppose to make you think that it's actually Bruce, right...? There doesn't really need to be anyone at all.
Bruce’s message at the end of this video isn’t the same one from the end of the Arkham games, look at the animation style. It’s the beginning of the next Batman game coming out.

The Arkham series is my absolute favorite. I remember my dad bought me all the figures up until I graduated high school. Can’t believe it’s been 7 years
To this day I’m still confused😂 I want to believe that Bruce just faked his death, but what about the ghost bat at the end, did that have something to do with scarecrow’s toxin?
He died as much as he died back in the movie Dark Knight Rises. 😂 And the end is just a figure of speech, a staging. Not everything has to be so litteral, but if you don't have the soul of a poet and you don't like reading you can say Bruce just came back but only as Batman now no more living the life of Bruce Wayne in public.
Supposedly the real Bruce Wayne is dead now, he is dead. There’s no more Bruce Wayne. Now it’s Batman, the real Batman. Batman will now put more fear into thugs.
But these arent' even in the same universe/continuity. Bruce said he triggered the cave destruction, and GCPD can't be trusted since Gordon died. In the original Arkham ending, he blew up the mansion and then Gordon lived to become mayor
Plus Damian doesn’t exist, Barbara is crippled, Red Hood works alone, and Mr Freeze left Gotham with his wife. The only reason people are confused is because Batman is also seemingly dead in this universe. That’s the only similarity.
If only this were live action DC would sky rocket as the most grossing cinematic universe just like Marvel. damn DC with comics, games, animated movies is GOAT

The only sad thing about how Arkham Knight ended is that Batman is dead. The symbol of Batman died when Gotham saw Bruce Wayne was Batman, as Bruce once said “as a symbol I can be indestructible” but once the person behind symbol is shown it’s no longer a symbol that works
I was told that Gotham knights wasn't set in the same universe, and yet the beginning of Gotham Knights feels a lot like a continuation of Arkham Knight. It seems like a natural progression.
As cool as this ending seemed, I don't really see it as the end of Bruce's story. To me, that only happens when Terry McGinnis takes of the mantel of the Dark Knight; HE (in my opinion) is the only one worthy of wearing the cowl. Why...because while he doesn't have the rest of the Bat Family's brains, he has more heart than all of them; more than Dick, Tim, Jason and especially Damien (the little "B" word)
Fun fact you can see calendar man in the crowd right before it zooms in on the manor and in Arkham city he said that he was there at his beginning and he will be there at his end
I'm curious if Bruce will show up in Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League. I don't think he's dead, and I could see him providing some intel support in that game
Maybe. I could see him making a cameo, possibly confirming what actually happened at the end of Knight and what the fear toxin batman was actually about. But I don't think we'll get a big batman rebirth or reunion, most likely just a cameo with Bruce possibly lending some behind the computer aid or something like that. Anything else would defeat the purpose of the ending and ruin his sacrifice. Personally, I'd just rather move on and let the Batman remain a mysterious legend, and not touch the iconic arkham franchise.

Bruce Wayne didn’t “quit” being Batman. Since everyone knew who he was, his identify of Batman died. Now it was truly just Bruce Wayne in a costume, therefore he initiated the Knightfall Protocol which meant blowing up the Batcave along with Wayne Manor and himself.
