What you said was how I felt about my Dad. He was my hero. He was a very hard working man. The love he showered upon me was what made me. He was moving a house for me when he had a heart attack. That was the sign of a tough man who loved me and gave me hope. He would tell me to pull myself up by my boot straps when my sensitive self got disillusioned by the world. He has been gone many years, but I still hear him helping me with his winks and wisdom. I have never felt that kind of love and perhaps I never shall. I had the love of a Father though and maybe that was just enough to keep my head up and smile. I knew a hero. My name is Carol Taylor and I live in Oklahoma. Whereever I go people talk about him. I’ve been an AVID Springsteen fan for 44 years. I’ve also sung his songs professionally throughout central PA for 36 years. “The Wish” is the only one of his countless incredible songs that makes me sob uncontrollably every time I hear it. Because, while he’s describing his mother and the love and inspiration he drew from her, he might as well have been talking about my mom, the force of nature that was “Fritzi” Grasa. She kept me from crawling through that window, too! She died at 90 in 2012, but was dancing in jeans with her trademark bottled red hair, and partying with people half her age right up until the end!! Bruce, you’ll never know how much I love this song.

So sad for Bruce and family. I had a very similar insanely close relationship with my Mom due to outside circumstances involving my own father so I get where he's coming from. Money doesn't change that. My Mom made me on her own what I am today. I'm not a billionare, but I know exactly where Bruce is coming from

Am truly sorry for your loss Bruce Springsteen. Loss my mother only a couple weeks after 911 attacks. It was hard for a while but I Realized. That mom lived a good life. Never had money but she wanted a big family. 9 kids one died a couple days old. But her and dad had 8 kids 4 boys and 4 girls. We loss dad 11 years ago. Now their kids don't see each other much at all. Getting old sucks

Love your Tribute Bruce to your Mother. You will never forget Her. My Mother passed away 16 years ago. She was Always a positive person woke up with a Smile on Her face everyday. I think it was his mother, without her nurturing, personality and ways Bruce Springsteen would’ve never emerged. What a wonderful woman, think of how hard it was for her to live with a schizophrenic husband all those years. She lived to see 98 yrs. Bravo!!!! what a blessing she was a job well done, good and faithful servant!!!

As a widow with two beautiful daughters and their families, you have brought me so much strength when I needed it, just know our love is right back at you. I look back at the memory of my mother and am grateful to have had a strong woman who fused head and heart. She gave everything selflessly but not foolishly, talked to everyone making them feel like they were the only ones alive at that moment and worked hard from a girl to the end … but mostly she was my champion who always had my back, a soft place to fall, the breeze to help me soar and just be my mum even when I didn’t know I needed her. Love you mum…. Oh how I wish to have one more coffee with her at the kitchen table and just be in her company…. ❤

I admire you Bruce. I'm 56 years of age, and have come a long way listening to you from the start of your career. Still believe that "Darkness on the edge of town" was your best album yet, followed by " Human touch". But anyways, my condolences on passing of your mother, and I admire the old spirit of caring for your parents personally, as opposed to nowadays. Here's to you finding peace and strength in her passing, knowing she's one with the Lord and is in a happy place. God bless you for the true blue music you put out. Bruce’s stories are so incredibly poetic and beautiful and his absolute best are about his mother! What an incredible woman! 8 months ago my wife’s mother passed after her own battle with Alzheimer’s/Dementia and one of the finest memories and videos we have is her dancing to Elvis songs in our backyard. I am so grateful for the amazing women in our lives and their powerful souls that give us never ending memories of how to live our fullest and best lives even when all else is slipping away. Bruce has been able to share so much amazing insight and music for decades largely because of the mother he had. How lucky we are that he had the mother he did.
