I was expecting someone to call Martin's character a wanker or something and him immediately breaking down in tears...

I expected him ta get punched.

I wanted in the last scene for David and Robert's characters not to hold him back and just see Martin get slaughtered.

What's this shit about expecting a punchline or "where's the joke" I'm seeing? The funny part is in the lines and interactions, and then how it gets more ridiculous and the other two builders always appear just in time to stop the dude somehow, and then he just goes back to work.

atomicmrpelly I imagine they probably never got to have one, as the show was cancelled before a lot of their running gags could be brought to natural conclusions.

It didn’t really need to go anywhere with it. This is a collection of short skits from multiple episodes they even change the joke by having the guys holding him back appear out of nowhere but they really didn’t have to do anything else with it. As for why the men hold him back THATS PART OF THE JOKE!! Being held back implies the man is violent and adds to the comedy of someone going crazy over being called touchy. Literally every possible comedic skit ever can be questioned by asking why people do things it’s dumb to want every character presented in a joke to have clear motivations
