One of ? Forget defining genres, there is before Heartwork, and after Heartwork, period. It’s kind of like before Maiden and after Killers. They sent every metal head back to grade school. There are other great death/grind core/extreme metal bands, but if you don’t acknowledge Carcass as the foundation layer of such music you should go back and reintroduce yourself to their Necroticism album, an album lacking in the credit it deserves. It would be like Led Zeppelin II or Paranoid, awesome, groundbreaking, but not quite what was to come. Works of art, painted black, magniloquent, Bleeding Dark, Monotonous palate Murky spectrum grimly unlimited Food for thought So prolific In contrasting shades Forcely fed Abstraction, so choking So provocative No one can touch that insight unless your name is Shakespeare. Poetry in hate and expression of reality and the desire for love and existence in the face of incredible adversity. Carcass Heartwork. Of dark foul Liiiiiiiiiiight!!!!!!
Tracks: 0:00 *Buried Dreams* 3:45 *Captive Bolt Pistol* _(they played only the last half of the song)_ 5:51 *This Mortal Coil* _(with "Edge of Darkness" intro part)_
carcass started in the 80s and still brings it live. very impressive especially when you see live videos of old bands where it's just sad and tired looking.
Modern Guitarists: "At the very least, I NEED a custom 3 piece Bubinga/Wenge multi-scale extended range baritone for drop tunings!" Bill Steer: "Hmm... oh, a melody maker!" The man's a fucking legend. Legendary band!
But at least he has no tuning issues cos u can't actually tune a melody maker. Don't believe me? Just listen to that 'Edge Of Darkness' intro... such a shame...
What a performance. Such a shame that this band was inactive for so long. Imagine if they had maintained the trajectory they were on with the Heartwork album. They would have been the biggest death metal band in the world if they had wanted to be.
I have to disagree, Gavin. Carcass are really great musicians but i can name a ton of other metal bands that also are great at playing their instruments. Even some of the "underground" death/grind-bands on Bandcamp are supertight and play really well together. There's so many good bands out there is what i'm trying to say but good music is harder to come by in 2019 contra 1991:)
Brilliantly as always. Sincerely, your fan since 1991. P.S. Noticed that Jeff's T-shirt says in Russian: Михаил Калашников - Совершенное оружие. (Mikhail Kalashnikov - Perfect weapon). Great, Jeff.))
Banda legendaria, que fue elaborando su material hasta ser uno de los iconos del metal pesado, aqui muestra de lo valioso que es su musica.junto a napalm death abrieron el camino del grind metal.
they should rename themselves as the spacesavers. No one can produce that much sound and that much quality without a wall of 300 marshall amps and a quadruple bass with 38 cymbals. I also think these guys seem so nice and fun. We will sing about ripping out your throat, but we will stay and help you clean up the mess too! Horns up to CARCASS!
They played at 10PM as I recall, the same day of that terrible storm (got wet to the bone). Who cared anyway, it was an amazing performance. A little bit more of Necroticism and it would have been perfect.
