After the scandalous verdict of the judges in the first fight of Evander and Lennox, all the boxing fans only talked about and argued. It was obvious that there was no draw. Holyfield won three, at most four rounds. All the hype around this fight was on hand to Don King. Now it is possible to organize monetary revenge, which was pre-registered in the contract...

Holyfield was a warrior who fought everyone and anyone. He didn't duck anybody and he wasn't even a natural heavyweight. He is the only man to be "undisputed" at two weights and is a Legend who deserves a lot of respect.

He took tons of steriods which is a stain on his remarkable career as a fighter. But that said, he truly was the real deal. His mentality for a fighter was as good as all those in his generation. I would have 3 altogether that were unmatched in the mental game of that era. Evander 'The Real Deal' Holyfield Lennox Lewis And BIG George Foreman. Hell, George said that in his 2nd career as a fighter he never threw a punch in anger, not once! Shit man......imagine if he did! I love all 3 of these boxers/fighters, they truly are worthy fighters for all times. As much as I regard Lennox & Evander though, George scares the living hell out of me hahahah

Holyfield was a natural light heavyweight, and gained weight when training. That fact was in all the media back then. Then, when he quit training, he lost weight!! There's only one way I know this can happen, and I'm surprised so many haven't commented. While I was no Lennox fan, when they called that first fight a draw I stopped watching heavy weight boxing. It was so blatantly evident that Lewis dominated the overwhelming majority of the rounds, just plain outboxing Evander, that I lost all respect for this division. Lennox was cheated of a decisive victory and I enjoy these sports to watch champions battle not to see graft or politics or a desire to restage a fight for more money. Thankfully the UFC happened and as far as boxing goes I have no regrets from leaving the sport as an enthusiastic observer.

@Steevy Horton nobody ever said that boxing was clean before don king, and youre defending the guy, it has nothing to do with race, he created more millionaries of course he did nobody made millions in the 20s 30s 40s 50s and 60s, its just inflation in a 100 years boxers will be making billions with a single fight but a billion dollars wont mean the same as today, don king was around in a era that money worth less than earlier thats why he made a bunch of guys millionares, because there was more money in the world and boxing was becoming even more famous, gerald mcclellan needs donations just to be alive because don king got most of gerald's last purse against nigel benn wich left gerald brain damaged for life and don king not only never helped but took his money, so yes your argument is flawed.

Lewis's problem was he came along in a time where the division wasnt that great, and its stars, like Holyfield, were far out of their primes. So, even then beating the likes of Holyfield just carried less weight. Lol, Holyfield was coming up the ranks when Lewis was rebuilding. Plus, with Don King, it was extremely difficult to get fights with US belt holders. I guess you never followed Lewis career closely - he fought almost every best fighter of his era. Even Larry Merchant who has a scorn for all boxers says that Lewis ducked no one. Even a peak Tyson and Holyfield can't do much against Lewis. For one, Holyfield, for all his heart and stamina, does not have the power to KO Lewis. If Vitali, a genuine superheavyweight, couldn't KO Lewis despite landing 200+ punches on Lewis, Holyfield ain't doing shit to Lewis. Ditto with peak Tyson.

I don't see it that way. When Lewis became a contender, Mike Tyson was having "legal" issues before going to prison. When he was released, he was signed on with Don King and the Lewis camp would rather have dealt with anyone but Don King and Don King himself would rather have two fighters from his own stable fight each other because its more money for him. Admittedly, Lewis got caught out twice during his own defences of titles so that would also have been a factor. And finally, when Lewis wasn't a belt holder, he wasn't box office compared to a Holyfield/Tyson. It was best to avoid Lewis for as long as possible because the fight purse wasn't as big and there was a genuine chance that whoever was the champ could lose against him. Just my opinion. Not looking for an argument.

@@TheMeeesterT Agreed. Lewis absolutely did not avoid Tyson. It was quite the opposite actually.

Not once but twice. The first one was scored a drawer but Lewis should have won. Made global headlines and even the White House put out a statement lol. Second one was much closer.
