I always save my best swear words for the trickiest jobs. I finally figured out a little electrical job yesterday after a lot of expletive usage. It turned out that the instructions on several of the components' packaging were actually incorrect. I only noticed after trying alternative parts and seeing that the cards had different diagrams on them. I'd made my own wiring diagram before starting and it turn out it was right all along, but the instructions for connecting up led me astray. I'm feeling much better now, thank you...
Great tip with a piece of wood and an adjustable wrench, thank you. Easy to remember 2 x 1". You are really lucky to find your main bearings bores being in line, I wasn't. Crank had a minimal misalignment which I opened on a bush. Both halves had the same number so it was factory mistake.
I am getting so confused with these A65 engines! Started watching the one that was supposed to be a new rebuild but wth lots of vibrations then you found cracked fanges etc! Next I see an enging going back together with no mention of cracks or anything like that!! My mind is well and truly BOGGLED! Keep up the good work Paul, the more you fiddle about now the better the engine will be and the longer it will last!!!
Good idea to assemble or disassemble the engine to this point before installing or removing. Ive always removed just the bare minimum before giving myself a hernia. I've always seemed to work harder and not smarter.
Would love to know how BSA built these engines on production line. The amount of fiddling and fitting required to get them together doesn't allow for easy manufacturing.
