Also do not be alarmed by the flashing lights on the dashboard during this process. That is normal for this process and means that the ECU is in programing mode. The long hold switch off is indeed critical in this phase. BT-Moto has a video up on their site that explains this very clearly but I agree that the written directions are not as clear on this point. Beyond that just follow the directions on the handheld Flasher.
