With their swept back wings and aerial lifestyle hirundines (Swallow, Sand and House Martins) and the similar, but unrelated, Swift often cause ID headaches. Let us help you to separate these amazing summer visitors.
This guide is absolutely brilliant. I've found a colony of swifts nesting in some of the 13 boxes in Slawit,Huddersfield. It's wonderful watching them coming in and out of the boxes to feed their young. Had the pleasure also of seeing up to 40 at a time "screaming" around the skies of Grassington in the Yorkshire Dales,I even managed to pin-point 7 of their nest sites.
Fantastic. I'll be watching this many times in the winter months to remind me of the long summer days when you would normally see these wonderful birds.
Beautiful and easy to understand illustrations for correct identification of each species described in the clip. Wish I could give permission to translate the narration in to Hausa here in Nigeria where I am to share widely. Thanks and regards for making this video.
