“134340” is the 4th track off Love Yourself: 轉 Tear. It features a hard hitting chorus backed by jazzy instrumentals. The number 134340 is the asteroid number scientists now use to reference Pluto ever since it lost its status as the 9th planet in our solar system. Pluto is also the Roman name for the Greek deity Hades. Hades’s storyline is mentioned through the song. On Naver it has been described as « containing the analog sound that is unique to BTS ». Here is the explanation of a few lines: IF ONLY I COULD, I WANTED TO ASK YOU WHY DID YOU DO THAT BACK THEN? WHY DID YOU KICK ME OUT? Back in August 2006, The International Astronomical Union (IAU) downgraded Pluto’s status to a dwarf planet because it didn’t fit the criteria of a real planet which are: 1) Is in orbit around the Sun, 2) Has sufficient mass to assume hydrostatic equilibrium (a nearly round shape) 3) Has “cleared the neighborhood” around its orbit. Pluto only fit the first two criteria. It didn’t fit the third one because it did not dominate its orbit, and had other solar system bodies nearly its size. Planets are supposed to be significantly larger than their surrounded solar bodies in order to be classified as a Planet. Such as how Earth is much much larger than the moon. Here the speaker is taking on the role of Pluto, who was kicked out of the solar system and lost it’s status. From they’re point of view, they don’t know why they were pushed away and kicked out from the relationship (the solar system) and follows around or continues to orbit his significant other (the sun). If Pluto could, he would probably ask why he’s no longer a planet. He seems to be talking to Sun, because it still orbits the Sun. Does the Sun still want Pluto to be there? Does the speaker’s significant other still want them? WITHOUT A NAME TO MYSELF, I STILL REVOLVE AROUND YOU As of September 7, 2006, Pluto is now just a number. Alongside its companion satellites, Charon, Nix and Hydra, Pluto is now named 134340 while the remaining 3 are named I, II, and III. So Pluto is now nameless. Compared to the speaker, which is stating that he (Pluto) has no name (status/place) on their relationship anymore but now a stranger and still revolving around his ex-lover’s life (the sun). OUR GOODBYE IS COLORLESS, THAT UNCHANGING COLOR wordplay: 무색해 (original form: 무색하다) literally means ‘to be colorless,’ but can also mean ‘put something to shame’ or ‘to be meaningless.’ COULD IT BE REALLY THAT YOU’VE FOUND ERIS Eris or minor-planet designation 136199 Eris, is another dwarf planet that is in the same belt as Pluto is in named Kuiper Belt and allegedly is the same size as Pluto or larger. Eris is actually one of the reason that Pluto lost its status as a planet because Eris is in the same orbit as Pluto. It actually correspond with the origin of its name. Eris is the Greek goddess of strife and discord. Making conflicts everywhere she goes. It just so happens that Pluto is on its bad side, being the victim of conflict and losing its status. MY COLD HEART IS 248 DEGREES BELOW ZERO Pluto spent 248 years to complete the orbit around the sun The temperature of Pluto is around -248 degrees celsius. THE TEMPERATURE RIGHT NOW IS -248 DEGREES Suga is referring to the coldness of Pluto and at the same time to its year length. Even thought Pluto is a very cold planet, its lowest temperatures “only” reach -233 degrees celsius. The number 248 comes from the fact that a year in Pluto (the time it takes to go around the Sun) is equivalent to 284 earthling years. This number can also be a reference to its orbital eccentricity, i.e., how stretch its orbit is, which is 0.2488 (being 0 a perfect circle and 1 a straight line). (BEYOND THE FOG, I WATCH YOU AS YOU CONTINUE TO SMILE Pluto is in the Kuiper belt, there are countless objects, meteors, dust and ice surrounding the sun THERE’S NO MEANING TO MY IRREGULAR ORBIT) pluto has the flat eliptical trajectory and a large angle deviation from the sun, completely different from 8 planets of solar system Hope you enjoyed.. See you on Patreon.
This song was on their tear album, which represents toxic relationships, parting, tearing apart, tears. This song uses the metaphor of Pluto becoming insignificant (because of being deemed no longer a planet) with becoming insignificant in someone else’s eyes.
The lyrics from the live was more accurate than the ones from the lyric video. Also the channel Jaeguchi is by far the worst lyric video channel out there as they still get which member is singing mixed up and their translations are really bad.
They sing about whale, piano, airplane, god of wine, pluto.... they sing about anything and it's always a hit! That's BTS 💜 Anthing that comes out of their mouth are pure gold.
134340 is Pluto’s prison number. They are using Pluto aka 134340 as an illustration to represent themselves and their love interest (the Sun). They are circling around their love interest endlessly but they aren’t recognized by her the same we don’t recognize Pluto as a planet or call it by that name anymore. So yes your thoughts on it was correct and yesss it’s brilliant of BTS to come up with this type of concept!! They are always thinking outside the box 😭
Lyric videos are almost always incorrect because they just use Google translate. The live performance you watched was translated by a Korean speaker and is one of our most trusted translators in ARMY. Miintae is great!
In a Twitter feed Tuesday, the Johnson Space Center of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) said three BTS songs -- "Moonchild," "Mikrokosmos" and "134340" -- will be added to the playlist for the planned lunar journey. "Wow, there are a lot of BTS & RM fans!Jun 7, 2019 travel to the Moon (2024)
just like how pluto (134340) was "erased" and not deemed as a planet therefore being "meaningless", they are talking about how in this relationship, they mean nothing to the other person as well. BTS sings "you erased me, you forgot me" to correlate to this as well. They were once a part of that persons "solar system", something meaningful. But now since they've been "forgotten" or discarded or left alone, they are now meaningless and lonely. this is why they sing "im just circling meaninglessly". Just like how Pluto, or 134340 is technically not part of our solar system, they are also not a part of that persons life anymore. but since they sing "i'll keep circling around you", they're still attached to that person, still "a part" of them, they just aren't meaningful to them anymore. just like how Pluto is still a part of our solar system, but it doesn't have any significance or meaning to us anymore.
The song ‘134340’ by BTS is an incredibly meaningful piece with clever lyrics that illustrate the pain of loving someone who no longer reciprocates that love. The piece uses several elements of poetry and literature to deliver this message. For instance, the whole song demonstrates a metaphor, comparing the speaker to the former planet of Pluto (now known as 134340 Pluto). This illustrates the fact that the speaker’s loved one no longer reciprocates his love, just as Pluto is no longer considered a planet. Great creativity .. I love their deep meaningful songs. As always Please stay healthy and safe everyone . I love you all.
Double meaning. Pluto losing its status as a planet so it is now lonely, orbiting around the other planets. Second meaning, guy lost his love. So clever. If you put these 2 in mind while reading the lyrics, it makes soooo much sense and it's so creative & clever!
The concept is basically (I reference to a relationship) „I haven’t change, but you found something better, so I became meaningless.“ But the enteral destiny is to always be with each other but just... don‘t count. Like Pluto to the sun.
tbh there is so many talented artists in the world but bts really is on another lvl. its not just talent, they are whole package, and every single one of them individually is breaking records and shining. Someone finally listened to my favorite song, Thank You! Who would imagine it's about Pluto being reduced to nothing but a number "134340". That jazzy flute killed me, so relaxing. Enjoy!🙋♀️🤗🤩💜💞✌🙏 #BTS_Dynamite #ArmyWithLuv
Just like how Pluto lost its status as a planet that revolved around the sun, the song 134340 can be seen from the perspective of a failed relationship, where at one time the individual meant something to someone.
The number is Pluto... a planet stripped of it's name and position, still circling the sun without anything left. They are comparing it to relationships. This is one of my favorite songs from them, honestly.
Needddd to do ‘So What’ next. You can’t claim you know BTS until you’ve heard that song. It was the highlight of the love yourself tour. It comes from the same album Love Yourself: Tear as 134340
I think when someday RM profess his love to someone, the poor person will take at least 3 days and wikipedia to understand... but will be the most beautiful declaration
I always read this lyric video and song in Pluto's perspective lol, it's so sad and somber when you think of Pluto haha. Poor pluto, maybe pluto also felt he was never a part of our galaxy after all this time we spent with him, just thrown away, insignificant, like pluto was never even ours to begin with :'(
BTS expressing the feeling of pluto in their music and NASA acknowledged it by deciding to play it in mars mission in space. dont worry pluto we BTS and ARMY there for u
5:14 after BTS released song about Pluto, Pluto is officially again planet of Sun it is about them too, BTS forgotten in music industry in korea But they belongs to it
134340 is the name for pluto(planet)...and this song is a totally methaphoric way to explain that feelings of a person that was remplace or forgotten by who loved....yeah BTS songs are always so deep and hard to understand hsjsjs
That only shows you how smart they are. They don’t write songs just for the sake of writing. They are here to educate and entertain at the same time. All their songs have deep meaning to them. You can relate to them and feel the message they wan to tell and share to everybody. That is why I love them so much.💜💜💜💜💜
They make Army smarter. We are always learning more because of BTS and their creative concepts/lyrics, etc. I noticed that Army tend to read and study all the things that BTS brings to our attention.
One of the most awaited MV to drop but never has...underrated masterpiece. The very song was reportedly used by a Science Professor to teach about the planets in class because of how brilliant the lyrics was written!
134340 WAS THE NUMBER GIVEN TO THE PLANET PLUTO AFTER IT WAS DISREGARDED AS A PLANET......THIS SONG DESCRIBES THE FEELINGS OF THE PLANET PLUTO WHICH IS USED AS A METAPHOR FOR THE FEELINGS OF A PERSON WHO HAS BECOME INSIGNIFICANT LIKE THE PLUTO IN SOMEONE IMPOTANTS'S EYES.IF THAT MAKES SENSE.💜💜
I'm sure others have said it, but yes, please be wary of some of the "color coded lyric" channels. They usually try and push out their video RIGHT after the song is released. This can cause inaccuracies with translations as well and who is actually singing, but is used to garner views as quickly as possible which can hurt proper chart data. You'll get to the point where you can tell who is singing yourself.
"who the hell would use the reclassification of pluto as a vehicle to talk about the aftermath of a relationship? BTS, that's who!"....Just last week, there is an account on twitter that posted this. It started a whole thread of " who the hell... BTS, that's who" posts discussing BTS' lyricism. It was so fun as ARMYs were trying to explain their lyricism in profound words... BTS = Lyrical geniuses...
My previous comment about the lyrics being flowery had to do with the lyric video. I have to remember that the lyric videos are not always an accurate translation of the songs. I like the live version of this song a lot more, and I'm glad they explained what 134340 meant. I think it is true about Pluto, ever since it has been reclassified as not being a real planet, but a rather dwarf planet it has lost importance to me. It's funny but I don't see it the same as I did before.
DT:I am bit lost what they're talking about... Literally title of the song 134340(Pluto) in the bracket 😂😂 Anyways,I always enjoy your BTS reactions 💜💜
Jimin’s hairstyle slayedddddd in this performance. This is the perfect hairstyle for him. He looks amazing when he’s showing more of his face and jawline
Si no tienes idea que 134340 se refiere al número designado a Plutón después de bajarle la categoría de planeta a planeta enano no entiendes mucho la metáfora de la canción. Una de mis canciones favoritas de BTS!!!
