They should have done it when he was alive. Met Buck 19 years ago. Huge hands. Confident demeanor. He was a good human being. Shame on the Hall. But his family can rejoice!

One of the great shames of the Hall of Fame is that they didn’t induct Buck when he was still with us.

If anyone out there enjoyed Buck here, make sure to catch Ken Burn's "Baseball." This man steals the show.

The request was mine, and I'm very happy with it. If you're interested in more the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum held a online rememberance yesterday, on what would have been Buck's 109th Birthday ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LxXfHQhPZYc.html

If I had the opportunity to meet any man ever involved in baseball at ANY level, and shake their hand, Mr. Buck O'Neal would be my choice. An absolutely wonderful human being, a charming, intelligent, handsome repository of baseball history. His inclusion on Ken Burns "Baseball" elevated that series. Rest in piece, Sir.

Buck was a wonderful guy. I was lucky to meet him twice when he came to sign hats and baseballs at the KC T-Bones. My Dad took me to his coffin at the NLBM back in 2006. He was one of the best people KC has yet seen.

There was a time where I met Buck. He hugged me & my sisters. I became overwhelmed. He actually calm me with how emotional I became. My sister later explained, It was like getting a hug from God. Buck was the best ambassador of baseball, KCMO & life. Forever Miss Buck!

Letterman hit it out of tbe park inviting this 1-derful man to his show, wish the segment had been longer, I could hear Buck talking for hours, charisma all the way, a walking encyclopedia and great storyteller, so sorry he wasn't alive at the moment of his HOF induction this summer.

Always blows me away to see the WTC’s on these old show’s. I was visiting my sister in the Village, off Rivington, a week before they fell. I made it home ok, but she watched the 2nd tower fall from her rooftop and became a refugee of Manhattan. Crazy times! Edit: just have to say, and it should be obvious, that our struggles were nothing compared to anyone effected by the crisis… whether that be 9/11/01 or the many millions of Mid Easterner’s that died in reaction to it. I’ve got a lot to say at 230 am, apparently?

His book, 'I Was Right On Tims', is a fantastic read. And if you visit Kauffman Stadium, in KC, there's a red seat behind home plate, in a sea of Royal Blue. Buck's chair.

The older Letterman got the more hyper his brain seemed to have gotten when he interviewed guests. When O’Neil said he began playing baseball at the age of 12 it was pretty obvious he wasn’t referring to the professional leagues. But Letterman misinterpreted what he said, which is why O’Neil said when he was that age he was good “but not that good.”
