Nice one Mikey... I worked as a service Engineer for Buderus in the UK for ten years mainly on their oil boilers in commercial premises and then switched over to gas when they started producing wall hung domestic units , these boilers if maintained correctly are bulletproof machines and will last 30 years + without any major component issues They are extremely expensive to buy compared to other boilers but you get what you pay for and they have always come with a no quibble 10 year guarantee on parts and labour providing you use a Buderus approved service company for annual maintenance. I worked on one of these for the first time a few weeks ago. I was very impressed with how easy they are to service. It feels with most boilers the engineers actively hate plumbers and make them overly difficult to work on, cleaning the heat exchanger and combustion chamber was very easy.

Buderus (a Dutch company) introduced into the UK 2004/5. High quality boilers, so good that Bosch Thermotecnic bought the company only to find they were losing sales of British made Worcester boilers. They stopped importing the 500 and 600 range that directly competed with Worcester, but the 800 (the one in the video is a later version) remained because it filled a gap in the range. First one from 2005 still going strong,serviced every year and system water kept clean.

Changed one 2 months ago same deal. Then those for forsaken header flanges that always leak. Decent units but most were never maintained.

That looks like the vintage of the heat exchanger outlet adaptor upgrade and drain trap kit. It Would explain all the corrosion internally

A whole house filter wouldn’t do anything in a closed loop system. The rust in that system is from the steel pipes being eaten up from the inside, out

That heat exchanger is most likely already shot. it need to be cleaned every year.

Is there any major difference between the buderus, or the Bosch wall hung boiler? Obviously it’s not Korean junk or it would have died. But I’m wondering what the heck they’ve been doing for maintenance for the past ten years? You mentioned magnets for the return because of iron pipe would heating the cold water create condensate, if so they didn’t seem to be using a condensate neutralizing filter for treatment to prevent corrosion from the iron pipes. Or am I missing something? I try to listen to you and understand what happened with each system. I’m hoping to convert from steam heating to hot water heating system but it sounds like if maintenance isn’t done annually it’s going to look like their boiler. What I don’t spend on gas I’m going to need for maintenance and repair and cleaning so I might get a slightly smaller gas bill but get a bigger maintenance bill each year.

Hello, my boiler isnt heating one of my zones. The mechanism that pushes it to one of the zones get warm on the mechanism it's self and the hose that comes off the boiler but not after that mechanism. The one zone experiencing trouble gets warm but but warm like the two other zones. Is there anything i can do to trouble shoot it!?! I appreciate any help. Thank you
